    Underwhelmed

by JR on 12/10/23Old National Centre - Indianapolis

Gotta say, as a long time fan of the Dead, this concert was very underwhelming. Felt like an amateur band that would serve as a party's backdrop. Texted my pal anticipating their coming show in Memphs - "Dead Muzak."Highlight was the fellow playing through his Leslie. Other than that, meh...

    Great venue, smooth band

by GeezerBob on 5/23/23Jannus Live - St Petersburg

I enjoyed my first visit since it was the old Jannus Landing. Very pleasantly surprised to see bleacher seats set up. For years I'd avoided the place because I don't like to stand up for 2 or 3 hours. This was a big plus. Of course I also wandered around the place and listened to Jazz Is Dead, a most unusual cover band. Their languorous, soft-pedaled instrumental versions of slow Dead songs were precise but uninspiring. They could call the group Smooth Jazz Is Dead and play it in elevators. So I'll definitely be back to Jannus Live but probably for a livelier musical attraction.

    Fantastic Evening

by MazerFace on 5/22/23Revolution Live - Ft Lauderdale

I saw Alphonso Johnson for the first time in Philadelphia when I was a teenager , He has always been a favorite bass player of mine. Playing a 10 string Chapman Stick everyone there was blown away. Pete Lavezzoli was exceptional on drums especially with Jazz is Dead playing in his hometown. You simply love his talent and energy as he sweetly bangs his drums with passion and precision. Bobby Lee Rogers played exceptional well on all of his guitars and Banjo. Last but not least Steve Kimock on keys and guitar. Jazz is Dead is a group of 4 men who sound perfect together . Now one that loves music should miss seeing them live.

Great venue, great sound, great band. I saw Jazz is Dead in the 90’s. This band was more subtle and beautiful.

    Jazz is Dead

by Mardy on 5/15/23Buckhead Theatre - Atlanta

Buckhead theatre is very cold. Bring your sweater. Music was ok but the band was late and the show did not start on time. Because I had to work the next day I left at intermission. Also there was either a bad cable or a bad wireless hop resulting in one of the instruments having very loud inference noise. Very distracting.
