About
Indiana Hoosiers Women’s Basketball History
The Indiana University Bloomington Hoosiers women’s basketball team played their first varsity season in 1971. After joining the Big Ten Conference in 1983, the Hoosiers claimed the regular season conference title in their first year of eligibility, a feat they wouldn’t repeat again until 2023. Indiana also won the conference tournament championship in 2002. Among Indiana’s nine appearances in the Women’s March Madness tournament, two of their deepest runs have taken place recently, with an Elite Eight berth in 2021 and Sweet Sixteen finish in 2022. Head coach Teri Moren has led the team since 2014.

Indiana Hoosiers at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall
The Hoosiers play out of the Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall, which first opened in 1971 as Assembly Hall and currently seats 17,222. A major renovation completed in 2016 renamed the facility after the project’s donor, Cindy Simon Skjodt. Thanks to its sloping shape and spirited student section, Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall has gained a reputation for offering one of the loudest game day experiences in college basketball. In 2022, the venue hosted First and Second Round games in the NCAA Women’s March Madness.
