Iam Tongi has an amazing voice and wonderful stage presence. The audience was appreciative of his performance and the support he received from his band and backup singers. Not surprisingly, it wasn’t a polished performance. It was like watching a jam session. It was fun to be there and witness one of his early concerts, though.
Other things that could have been better:
A) Whoever was mixing had the bass way out of whack - it was distorted and annoying throughout most of the performance.
B) Megan, his warm-up singer, also has a strong voice, but it not even close to the caliber of Iam’s voice. It was easy to see why he won Idol.
C) With the exception of his back-up singers, who were amazing, the rest of the band was just okay. I hope he finds the support he needs to push himself to even higher levels of performance!
D) His duets with Kolohe Kai, especially Cool Down, were amazing!
