About

Drop Nineteens are a shoegaze band from Boston, Massachusetts. Frontman Greg Ackell and drummer Chris Roof founded the band in 1990 when they were classmates at Boston University, recruiting vocalist/guitarist Paula Kelly, guitarist Motohiro Yasue and bassist Steve Zimmerman to round out the original lineup. Taking inspiration from the British shoegaze scene, Drop Nineteens released their debut album Delaware in 1992 followed quickly by its sophomore successor National Coma in 1993. Shortly thereafter, Roof exited the band and was replaced by new drummer Pete Koeplin. By 1995, Drop Nineteens split up and didn’t reunite for nearly three decades. In August 2023, the band released “Scapa Flow” as their first single in 30 years; their long-awaited third album, Hard Light, arrived months later.

    A Timeless Blast

The Drop 19's kicked butt. Loved the show and venue. The band played impressively given it was only their 3rd performance. The fact it was their homecoming made it all the more special. I really liked the club layout that offered numerous good sight lines. Bring Em Back!

    Amazing beautiful noise

Such an inspiring experience. To seem them play their third show in 30 years in their hometown was amazing. As a shoegaze guitarist, it was very inspiring to see them play like they’ve never left. Definitely one of my favorite experiences I’ve had at Paradise.
