AMAZING...So nice, I saw it TWICE

by LoveEvents on 10/14/19Ohio Theatre - Columbus

The orchestra and singers were amazing and dynamic...Despite the fact that it was not a play, the words and music helped shape the imagery of the events in my mind and I was able to see the story all play out. I thoroughly enjoyed the talents of the wonderful cast and immediately rushed home and purchased a ticket for the following day. Bravo!

    Powerful Performance

    by S. H. on 10/14/19Ohio Theatre - Columbus

It was a thrill to experience this masterful oratorio; to feel the passion and drama unfold in a community that played a role in the transformation of so many brave and determined souls. Superb voices, individually and collectively, intertwined with compelling symphonic performance. Bravo!

Like being part of the orchestra

by T. on 7/28/19McCoy Center - New Albany

Outstanding show - and being in the small 'neighborhood' venue it was literally like being in the orchestra. The attendance was slim - so lots of folks missed out. If there's a next time we'll definitely go again - recommend others do too!

    Fabulous music, Great Showmanship

    by M. T. on 7/14/19Powell United Methodist - Powell

The Columbus Symphony Orchestra summer concert in Powell was amazing! The music was beautifully performed. The mood was informal and entertaining. I highly recommend the CSO to everyone who loves music.

    Symphony was GREAT

    by linda84 on 7/7/19Columbus Commons - Columbus

We love the symphony and all the patriotic songs as that is why we went. The fly-over was awesome and the fireworks were fantastic. I brought my 90 year old father, an Air Force Veteran, thinking that Flight One was something completely different. We love all things Air Force, but that performance we all could have done without. We just weren't there to hear 80's rock music. A picnic at the Commons is exactly what we love to do on a weekend. Keep playing and we'll be there.

    Awesome Experience

    by T. K. on 7/3/19Columbus Commons - Columbus

The concert was very good, the music was easy to hear from the lawn general admission. Wish there were more food options available. The fireworks were very impressive. The lawn area was very clean and we had plenty of room to sit.

    Lovely

    by T. P. on 7/2/19Columbus Commons - Columbus

Great show my husband would have liked more patriotic music though he loves it since it was the holidays! 80s could have been a little less since we were celebrating the 4 th of July plus he was in the Marines too

    Best Patriotic Concert

    by M. on 7/2/19Columbus Commons - Columbus

CSO is awesome. Made special with airforce fly by's. Songs by Flight One added zest to the concert, plus great fireworks display!

    Patriotic Pops

    by D. M. on 7/2/19Columbus Commons - Columbus

Enjoyed the evening and the atmosphere of the commons. I wish there had been more 4th of July type music the Broadway selection could have been more towards the military style of a play. Air Force Band was outstanding but once again the show was called the Patriotic Pops not the 80 Rock & Roll. The Fireworks were outstanding Thanks for a fun evening

    All the Pink Floyd Hits

    by R2 on 6/25/19Columbus Commons - Columbus

Windborne plus the CSO were in fine form playing all the Pink Floyd hits. Although Randy Jackson's voice was straining at times the rest of the performance was exceptional. The lead guitarist pulled off David Gilmore's riffs with ease and added some nice solos. The sax and backup singers were spot on. A nice night at the Columbus Commons.

Cover band was disappointing and drowned out the CSO

by Zim on 6/25/19Columbus Commons - Columbus

Based on previous Picnic with the Pops experiences, I was really excited for this show. However, the lead singer was a meh singer who messed up several lines of various songs. Their selection of songs was confusing. (Why would you end the concert on Run like Hell? Are you telling us all to go away?) The band completely drowned out the CSO musicians, so you lost the whole marriage of rock and orchestra. Then, the band gave their sax and guitar players long solos near the end of the show, that were not from any Pink Floyd song. Was their something in their contract where they had to let them do that? Was the band unaware that many, many Pink Floyd songs have legendary solos in them? It's a shame when you go to a Picnic with the Pops show and the best thing you can say about it is that the weather was really nice for a picnic.

    Pink Floyd

by Coach Nov on 6/25/19Columbus Commons - Columbus

The venue is awesome and the symphony was outstanding! Two criticisms- #1- get the volume right on the lead guitarist’s amp. So many Floyd songs have high pitched guitar solos that were unfortunately barely audible despite the guitarist ‘s tremendous ability. #2- sadly, the lead singer was probably the worst one on stage. Keep searching

Randy Jackson and Band Singing Pink Floyd Songs

    by R. C. on 6/25/19Columbus Commons - Columbus

I am a huge fan of Pink Floyd and love all their music. The orchestra did a wonderful job of background, but unfortunately the PF tribute band was not that good !! There were some songs that I didn't even recognize and I've been listening to PF music for 40+ years !!! There are definitely better PF tribute bands out there that you can spend your money on that won't disappoint.

    Sit in the front

by Sue on 6/25/19Columbus Commons - Columbus

Pink Floyd tribute band and orchestra did a great job- but way too much going on in the back . Folks standing, talking, kids running around. Volume far too low to hear from a distance. For real music lovers - pay extra and get at a table!!!

    Entertaining but short

by Krista on 6/24/19Columbus Commons - Columbus

Was hoping for a longer concert than 45 mins for the prep work that went into getting multiple kids there and set up. Said it was supposed to last at least an hour and I feel like there were maybe 6 songs played.

    World Class Event

Fantastic evening with Joanna Frankel and Il Cannone, it doesn’t get much better than this! Hope they put out a recording of that show

By far one of the best performances I've ever seen

by Terrell on 5/18/19Ohio Theatre - Columbus

Mayor Bucci, along with the talented violinist who serenaded our ears on Il Cannone brought an authentic Italian feel to the symphony

    Once In a Lifetime

by AndreaL on 5/18/19Ohio Theatre - Columbus

The sold-out SisterCities CSO concert was once in a lifetime experience. Everything was perfect from the ornate gold bench (upon which the Paganini violin came out of its case) to each beautifully played piece. I loved the opening with the Italian then US national anthems & the speech by the Mayor of Genoa. The pomp & circumstance of the handover of Il Cannone to Johanna Frankel suited the importance of the instrument. She played all the right music pieces beautifully. Thank you CSO & Genoa!

It was a most wonderful concert I have ever experienced.

by Cocob on 5/18/19Ohio Theatre - Columbus

Joanna's performance, Orchestra performance, both mayors speech, and everything else were so wonderful!
