About

CHARLES BRADLEY AND HIS EXTRAORDINAIRES IN CONCERT:

Powerhouse soul singer Charles Bradley raises the roof with raw, unrestrained emotion every time he takes the stage. Known as “the Screaming Eagle of Soul”, his raspy, take-no-prisoners vocals instantly lift ticket buyers up. While he can make an entire room feel his pain with lovesick ballads like “Let Love Stand a Chance” and his brilliantly reimagined cover of Black Sabbath’s “Changes”, the singer also knows how to cut a rug and get audiences clapping along to the party-starting beat on up-tempo jams like “You Put the Flame on It”. Throw in bobbing basslines, snappy drum beats, and sonorous horns, and Charles Bradley and his Extraordinaires guarantee a rousing soul showcase for rapturous fans.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

While some singers are lucky enough to become overnight sensations, Charles Bradley traveled a much longer road to musical success. Following a tough adolescence that included periods of homelessness, Bradley settled in California in 1977 and worked long hours as a chef while occasionally finding time to perform. In 1996 his estranged mother asked him to move back to Brooklyn so she could get to know him. While Bradley was moonlighting as a James Brown impersonator, Bosco Mann of Daptone Records discovered the singer and set up a recording session. Making up lyrics on the spot while the house band grooved, the then-54-year-old singer cut his first single "Take It as It Come". After almost of decade of touring for Daptone he released his 2011 debut album No Time for Dreaming. Bradley went viral in 2015 when he released a soulful rendition of Black Sabbath’s “Changes” in advance of his 2016 album of the same name. Just as his stirring recordings electrify listeners around the country, Charles Bradley and his Extraordinaires continue to give fans goosebumps with their dynamite live performances.

Charles Bradley and the Menahan Street Band were amazing! He is such a kind soul too - he gave roses to some audience members. The venue was really great too. One of the best sound qualities and seats were super comfy.
