So I went to see Blue Sky Riders drug along by my wife who wanted to see Kenny Loggins. not knowing what to expect. I was treated to 3 great performers who had a back-up band that could have toured on their own. Each lead musician has written hits only Kenny Loggins seemed to have gone on tour playing his own music.
I am a fan of alternative rock, not country/western. I was bit worried when I learned Gary Burr and Georgia Middleman were of Nashville origins. I am a fan of singer song writers like John Hiatt and Lyle Lovett, these guys fell into this genre. It reminded me of seeing Bodidly and Ron Wood at a side stage with 100 people at the Arizona State Fair... The next time I saw either was in a stadium with 40,000 other people. Seeing this bad rock a small venue is quite a treat. Their Nashville twang sounds very Monday Night footballish, but they go blues and rock enough that I can see them crossing over.
The trio has great chemistry, each can lead both instrumentals and vocals and the band behind them have impressive skills themselves. Together they have a big sound that blends a little rock, some blues, and country western type songs into a unique sound that rocked the house!
