About

The Black Keys are a garage rock duo from Akron, Ohio made up of lead vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Dan Auerbach and drummer Patrick Carney. Upon dropping out of college, the duo began making a number of self-produced albums together, including The Big Come Up (2002), Thickfreakness (2003), Rubber Factory (2004) and Magic Potion (2006). The band’s fifth studio set, Attack and Release (2008), marked a turning point — not only was it their first project to be recorded in a professional studio, but they also found a producer in Danger Mouse, who would go on to become a frequent collaborator. The Black Keys’ commercial breakthrough occurred with the 2010 release of Brothers and its 2011 follow-up El Camino. Both landed in the Top 3 of the Billboard 200 and the former earned the band their first Grammy win for Best Alternative Music Album. Their 2014 LP Turn Blue became their first No. 1 album on the all-genre chart, with later studio sets including Let’s Rock (2019), Delta Kream (2021) and Dropout Boogie (2022). The band’s twelfth studio album, 2024’s Ohio Players, will be supported by their 2024 International Players Tour.

    Great Night!

by Arty2412 on 10/18/22The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion presented by Huntsman - Woodlands

My first visit to the venue, my first encounter with the Black Keys. Venue was impressive - the night was perfect for this gig, and the crowd were astonishing. From the warm acts to the main event, the crowd got involved and encouraged and enjoyed. Then the Black Keys. Did not really know what to expect; my son and friends knew of them - I didn't. From first to last I was hooked! Excellent musicians, vocal talent and stage presence; lightshow was very intense. Each song, i would be standing, listening, caught the rhythm, shifted with the nuances and before you know it, you are just going with the sound. It mesmerized, enchanted and simply filled you up with soul stealing vibes. Best part - was when they played a few deep south slide songs with the guest artists KB and the Mississippi bass guy - that was simply wonderfully haunting and charged. Not so best bit was a couple who were in the same row, going out, coming back in, going out, coming back in during the entire evening; must have done it 10-15 times. Simply put, am a Black Keys fan now!

Sick but had a great time anyway

by Becky on 10/18/22The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion presented by Huntsman - Woodlands

This was a planned little trip for me and my husband and my cousin and her husband we had it all planned out for months in advance so when i got food poisoning Friday not only was i pretty bad off but i was gutted i might not make it . We had a hotel room so i was in a hotels bathroom way more than any normal person should be . Well when the time comes to get ready i had made my mind up i was not missing out on the concert !! I am so glad i made myself go and have a great time . The people working there were all really nice the music was amazing and the memories will merely glance past being sick and concentrate on the good parts . I do have to say i believe having cold water would be an easy thing to remedy because drinking warm recycled stadium water was kinda hard to swallow. Oh and one more slight problem we were double charged for a beer ,at about 17$ its not like we lost cout of how many we had !

Acoustics were just off... sounded too bright

by Batt on 10/17/22Ak-Chin Pavilion - Phoenix

Acoustics for the show were just below par meaning that the trouble was too high, vocals were too loud, in the grungy deep blues guitar wasn't really Audible. It may be the venue but it just didn't sound good at all

    Great Show !!!!

    by AJA8211 on 10/16/22Ak-Chin Pavilion - Phoenix

Lot's of energy, lot's of fun !!!! My only problem would be with the concession stands, be careful they don't charge you for something you didn't order, pay attention.

    Sped up

by AGod on 10/15/22Ak-Chin Pavilion - Phoenix

Everyone I went with thought they sped the songs up which really threw us off. The lead singer was spot on as usual, this was my second time seeing them and it was still a good time but someone in the band was off on their speed.

One of the Best Shows in the past year

    by CFoam1997 on 10/15/22Ak-Chin Pavilion - Phoenix

From the moment walking into the venue, I had a feeling it was going to be an excellent show. I walked in, scanned my ticket, and staff notified me of a FREE UPGRADE 🤯 Ended up with seats 12 rows from the stage, and had an absolute blast. Whoever was mixing sound that night had things dialed in extremely well. And The Black Keys are EASILY the best band I have seen in at least 2 years. I was thoroughly blown away by them AND The Velveteers. They rocked the damn house!!!

    Sad night

by Sandi on 10/13/22Ak-Chin Pavilion - Phoenix

I am sure I would give 5 stars had I actually gotten to see The Black Keys. This was the first live show for me and my 17 year old son together, and unfortunately, as soon as we walked through the gate, he headed straight to the bathroom and was sick the rest of the night and next morning. He did sit down with me for about 3-4 minutes, but that was it. I saw the opening act, The Velveteers, and the first song by Band of Horses, who sounded pretty good. I bought insurance for the tickets, but we had already had them scanned, so nothing of a refund. For 12 years I’ve wanted to see The Black Keys live, but seeing my son in pain, I had to get him home and more comfortable. Next time…

    Amazing Until The End

by Maddie on 10/13/22Ak-Chin Pavilion - Phoenix

I bought tickets back in July as a surprise birthday present for my boyfriend. It was his first concert and his favorite band. We came from northern California to Arizona to see the concert and made a road trip out of it. The concert was really good and we had lots of fun. We bought 4 shirts before the concert started. During the very last song, Lonely Boy, our shirts got stolen. They were on my chair and I was standing up so someone came from behind us and took our stuff while we were dancing. My fault for not being more responsible but what was upsetting was nobody decided to say something. There were lots of people in the rows behind us yet nobody said anything. Over $200 was wasted and I can't even find some of the shirts online for double or triple the price. Overall having something like that was very disappointing. If my stuff wasn't stolen hands down would've been the best concert I've ever been to.
