About

Joan Jett grew up during a time when rock 'n' roll was off limits to girls and women, but as a teenager, she promptly blasted the door to the boys' club right off its hinges. After forming her band the Blackhearts in 1979, with whom Jett has become a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee, she has had eight platinum and gold albums and nine Top 40 singles, including the classics "Bad Reputation," "I Love Rock 'N' Roll," "I Hate Myself For Loving You," and "Crimson and Clover." With a career that has spanned music, film, television, Broadway, and humanitarianism, Joan Jett remains a potent force and inspiration to generations of fans worldwide. As a producer, she has overseen seminal albums by Bikini Kill, and the Germs' LA punk masterpiece 'GI.' Jett and Kenny Laguna (her longtime producer and music partner) co-founded Blackheart Records from the trunk of Kenny's Cadillac after rejections from no less than 23 labels. 40 years later, Blackheart is a thriving entertainment company producing music, film and television, and continues to champion emerging bands. Joan Jett and the Blackhearts continue to tour the world with headlining shows and alongside fellow rock legends like The Who, Green Day, Heart, Foo Fighters and Alanis Morrissette (Summer 2024). 'Bad Reputation,' a documentary about Jett's life, premiered to critical acclaim at the 2018 Sundance Film Festival. Following up on the band's 2022 release Changeup, their first-ever acoustic album, Joan Jett and the Blackhearts' EP Mindsets was released as a Record Store Day First vinyl piece on 11/24/23. Mindsets is available to stream now.

    Good show....but...

by RGH1966 on 9/12/23Harrah's Cherokee Resort Event Center - Cherokee

My wife and I attended the concert on a Saturday evening. It started about 7:35. Joan put on a good show, but she flew through her set list and ended the show by 8:55. There wasn't even an encore. She sang the last song and wrapped things up and walked off the stage. I attend several concerts a year and this was the shortest concert I've been to...ever. We attended the same venue earlier in the year to see Pat Benatar. Both the performers are older...Joan 64, Pat 70, but Pat sang for almost 2 hours and did an encore. We were just hoping for more from the experience.

    Amazing time

by Kimmy on 9/11/23Hollywood Casino at Charles Town Races - Charles Town

First time going to the new concert hall at the casino, it was one of the smoothest concerts I've been to no line and everyone was so very helpful I will be back again

    Sounded great

by JJF on 9/11/23Hollywood Casino at Charles Town Races - Charles Town

She seemed to be frustrated about her earpiece malfunctioning but sounded great. I was more familiar with older music but the new was really good too. The only thing is I've never been to a concert that it was so cut and dry and over..

Joan is still the Queen of Rock and Roll!

by Sarah F on 9/11/23Hollywood Casino at Charles Town Races - Charles Town

Joan was awesome, fantastic, and didn't disappoint with her high energy show. We have enjoyed her concerts every time we have went. The Blackhearts were great as well. The venue, Charles Town Race track, leaves MUCH to be desired. Seating is HORRIBLE! Seats are like old kitchen chairs, with big cushions, and are attached to one another. Everyone is literally sitting right on top of each other. You can feel the person next to you sweating on you as it's so cramped. Only a small child would have enough room to be comfortable. If you are a larger person, PLEASE seek another venue as you will end up standing against the wall as there is no room for you to sit without sitting on someone else's legs. We suffered through it as the venue is close and we wanted to see Joan. Being able to stand to dance along with the music was a welcome relief. I don't know how people tolerate the seating for comedians or sit down events. It would be nice if they would separate the chairs so a person can move. Final thought Joan 5 stars - venue 0!!

    Not worth it.

by Disappointed. on 9/11/23Hollywood Casino at Charles Town Races - Charles Town

Off tune. Lots of "down time ", due to equipment problems. "Why do we even do sound checks." Only played for an hour. Very disappointing.

Joan was good the venue just OK

by Kelly on 9/11/23Hollywood Casino at Charles Town Races - Charles Town

Joan is still getting it done. She sounded great and had a good band. There were several technical problems with her headphones but she seemed to get around it. The venue was just OK. Seats jammed together so close it was hard to be comfortable. Flat floor so not always easy to see, especially when people were standing.

    Unprofessional

by BrianN on 9/11/23Hollywood Casino at Charles Town Races - Charles Town

I saw Joan in 2022 and she was awesome. It made me excited to see her again. Unfortunately, this time, she had sound issues. She frequently stormed off stage to yell at her sound guy and stopped the concert a few times. I know sound issues can be frustrating, but I would think there is a professional way to handle it during the show. No need to subject your audience to your problems. Still, I'm glad I saw her again.

    Great show

by JO on 9/11/23Hollywood Casino at Charles Town Races - Charles Town

Best show that I've seen in a while. Venue was small and she rocks as much as she did the 1st time I saw her in 1989.

    Just a 1 hour concert

    by Amy on 8/24/23

Joan Jett and the Blackhearts were great!! But they literally only played 1 hour. I’m sure that was the Turfway Venue that was responsible for the short show. No opener, no closer. Just 7-8pm and it was over. Got the feeling they just wanted to draw you in to get you to gamble in their gambling center. They did have a band in there. Very odd event. Don’t recommend Turfway for a concert.

Seriously - What the hell JJ?

    by Aerohio on 8/24/23

Turfway Park, Florence KY. 8/19/2023. I am a huge Joan Jett fan. I've been to hundreds of concerts over the years. It's my passion. JJ is in my top 10. Normally, JJ plays warm up, so I was excited to see her headline. Sound was great, but the volume was low. You could hear people talking during the songs. Very unusual. I started noticing that the songs were rushed. I knew we were in trouble when she started playing all the hits early in the set. You could see her talking to the band during the songs. Something wasn't right. I've seen her over 10 times. After 62 minutes of rushing through, they took a bow and RAN off stage. The audience was stunned. We weren't leaving and most were expecting an encore. Huge disappointment. Everyone stood around confused after the lights came on. Many people were upset. This was a Casino show. The tickets were over $100 each. I think this was a contract show to promote the Casino - come in, do the hits and leave. For a $25 ticket, I would expect this. Not for a full price ticket. Very disappointed in the Casino and JJ. Don't do this to your fans ever again, Ms. Larkin!!!!

    Excellent show!

    by JoeR on 8/23/23

This review is for Joan Jett and Night Ranger at Choctaw Grand Theatre on August 12th, 2023. Night Ranger is celebrating their 40th anniversary! Wow I feel old now :) They played all of their hits and had non-stop energy! Seems like you're ageless if you're in a rock band! Joan Jett followed next and rocked the house! The venue is nice, and the acoustics are great! Just be aware they only serve drinks inside. If you want food be sure to eat before you go to the show. If you're into gambling you're in luck, since the exit puts you right into the casino. I'd definitely return for future shows here!

    Terrible over priced

    by Angie on 8/23/23

Only lasted 1 hour. For the price of the ticket and drinks there should have been more than 1 artist. I will take extra precautions in returning to this venue in the future

Loved JJ but not the arrangement

    by Cherry Bomb on 8/23/23

Not sure why I Joan Jett has not been nominated for the rock ‘n’ roll Hall of Fame! She has definitely paid her dues throughout the decades. As always, she has a fabulous artist and performer. The venue while, beautiful definitely had some issues. Thankfully, we were seated fairly close to this stage, because the entire venue was set up on the floor in fold up chairs. The entire wall was nothing but an open window without any kind of shades, and the sun was setting into the venue which made things very hard to see. The chairs were squeezed in so tightly to make extra aisle space, that even thin people were bumping elbows. All in all the venue called for a not so great experience. Also, this was the first concert I have been to in quite some time without any kind of encore or opening act. Without any introduction, Joan came out, played some songs, and then just suddenly stopped and left. There was definitely a feeling of no closure, Where fans weren’t sure if they were supposed to leave or not. However, I still feel blessed to have been able to see her perform in my lifetime! She is the coolest!

    Joan Jett Concert in Kentucky

    by THC4449 on 8/23/23

Still has the chops to belt out the oldies. Remarkable that she is still bouncing around at 66. Backup players were okay but just seemed to be filling in for the music, not really getting into the high energy needed for Joan's music. Overall, a good concert (albeit - short at 75 minutes). Venue was just perfect for this performance - smallish but not overcrowded. Saw her a few years ago in Columbus, OH as the openning act for the WHO. This smaller venue and her being the only act was a much better experience overall.
