Formed in 1999 by frontman Eugene Hutz, Gogol Bordello took their style of Eastern European-influenced gypsy punk and doused it deep into the underground rock of New York City. In keeping with his vision of creating an international groove, he recruited musicians of all ages, nationalities and cultures to join the ever-evolving line-up.
The group’s supercharged music is based on a gypsy two-step rhythm and is augmented by styles picked up along the way including metal, rap, flamenco, roots reggae, Italian spaghetti, western twang and dub. Their music and legendary concert performances have earned the band a global following and critical praise.
Don’t miss this aural party of instruments including violins, accordions, trumpet, marimba amongst the standard rock basics of guitars, drum and bass. A live musical experience like no other, Gogol Bordell will break boundaries this March.
"... the ever-evolving collective has defied the boundaries of continents and genres in their quest for spiritual illumination through gypsy punk." - Consequence of Sound
such a great diverse band. It's the third time I go to their show and is always better than expected Great venue
Once again, Eugene and the crew came out and blew the doors off the Pageant!! Never the same show, the lack of an accordian was missed, but overall it ROCKED!!
The venue was easy to get to, and parking wasnt bad. Once inside, things went smoothly. Gogol Bordello, as always, put on an awesome show! The type of crowd they draw is friendly, and really there to have a great time, so that really adds to the experience.
Gogol shows are always a good party, this one was no exception. My first time at the new Masquerade, the venue is great.
Great band, great energy, great people, great venue!
Excellent in every way! Performance, singing, instruments, the music, the lyrics, his interaction with the crowd and the venue. Highly energetic and gets everyone into it!! People from 8 year olds to 80 were present and all loving it! Highly recommended artist and concert to see!
my whole body is sore from the mosh pit. still the best band to see live
What a great show, so much fun. They are at an 11/10 the whole time with a superb set list. The only way to get back to 5 stars with me would be to bring back an accordion (how often do you get to write that in a review)!
Gogol is always an amazing show! I'm always singing, dancing, and clapping for days afterwards. The "good vibes" stay with you long after the show!
Of course I’m rating it 5 stars! I travel to see Gogol Bordello and will continue to do so! Epic show celebrating 20 years. The highlight for me at the Franklin Hall show was the little red haired boy surfed from audience who got up on stage to partake in Start Wearing Purple. That kid was the best!
Everything about the performance was terrific, including the songs themselves, the range of instruments (including a rock band having a violin and accordion) and of course each of the performers. The facility too was ideal, as was the length of the show. Even the price was reasonable.
Eugene's mood and energy were bright and engaging, and he was ON for a real show. The band, as always, was fantastic! Love that they still play the hits -and a bonus Hank Williams was a smart choice!
This was so much fun. Very high energy show and the band sounds so full and wonderful. Better than the recording. Loved it. Note, I'm maybe too old for the mosh pit.
Music is interesting but we waited more than 1.5 hour when show started. Also there were a lot of drunk and aggressive people on concert.
They brought the house down. Do not miss an opportunity to see Gogol Bordello live.
Even if you're not into eastern European gypsy folk punk rock - or whatever Gogol Bordello's sound is - you have to see them once. They come out swinging and they don't let up for the entire set. They're loud, weird, funny, awesome - and musically, they're tight af. I brought a friend who had never even heard of them, and when the show was over, all he could do was shake his head and say, "Wow."
I absolutely love Gogol Bordello and Lucky Chops were great, but the sound was horrible.I tried standing in two different places, and I could barely hear the lead singer, and the back up singer wasn't coming through at all. Very disappointing, as I'd really been looking forward to this show.
Went to see Lucky Chops who were supporting Gogol Bordello. Both bands are great live . It was one of the highlights of my holiday in Boston. Good venue which helped create a very good atmosphere.
I didn't know anything about this band but had seen the name before and saw they were coming to Bogarts. I saw the "gypsy punk" description and it sounded interesting so an easy check 'em out Friday night. Gypsy Punk is exactly the right description. If that doesn't help you, I will explain. Imagine traveling the world, hot, tired, broke, and not really sure what country you are in. As you walk through some anonymous plywood village, you hear music in the not too far distance. It sounds pretty cool so you head that way. Next thing you know, you are deep in a sweaty no holds barred party. Not many are wearing shirts, males and females. You don't know where the wine is coming from but it never ends. A short bit ago you were a weary traveler and now you're lost in a sea of intensity. Next thing you know, you are down to just your boxers and having a time like no other. You're not sure how the night ended but you wake up from the heat of the rising sun and realize even your boxers are gone. Others are still passed out but you grab some nameless shorts and venture towards some sort of civilization. To me, this is Gogol Bordello. A BAND TO NOT BE MISSED! And just in case, bring an extra pair of boxers.
Even with a sound mix that messed up the vocals, they put on an amazing show, and gave it everything they had for 2.5 hours. A real live tribe of gypsies that wants to entertain you.
