About

Jimmy Eat World in Concert

Jimmy Eat World started in 1993 as a punk trio formed by childhood friends Jim Adkins and Zach Lind. After years of hard work in the studio and on the road, the band settled on a poppier sound, hitting the spotlight in 2001 with breakthrough album Bleed American. The album included several successful singles including "The Middle," which reached No. 5 on the Billboard Hot 100 and became an MTV staple. After extensive touring in support of the album, the band returned to the studio for 2004's Futures, which peaked at No. 6 and earned the band another No. 1 single with "Pain." Chase This Light in 2007 and Invented in 2010 would achieve similar success, cementing the band's role as one of the most successful indie acts in the business.

In 2013, Jimmy Eat World celebrated 20 years of independently released records with Damage, their critically-acclaimed eighth studio album. At their live concerts, the band delivers a blast of non-stop energy and enthusiasm, delighting ticket buyers with heavy guitar riffs, boisterously precise drum solos, and three-part vocal harmonies anchored by the familiar croon of frontman Jim Adkins. 2013's Damage saw the band transition from teen-angst rock towards a more sophisticated sound, with lyrical content taking on a markedly more mature tone on singles like the album's title track and "I Will Steal You Back."

Jimmy Eat World on Tour

Jimmy Eat World announced their Criminal Energy Tour in 2020. The 20-date summer run starts in Atlanta, GA on August 6, 2020 and culminates in a hometown gig in Phoenix, AZ, Labor Day Weekend, on September 5, 2020. New Jersey-based The Front Bottoms join the tour as direct support with Turnover and Joyce Manor splitting the duties of opening the festivities on select dates. Jimmy Eat World continues the 2020 roadshow in support of their "bold, brave and ultimately defiant" (NME) 10th studio album, Surviving. With 10 records to pull from, the sets will prove to satisfy all fans new and old. Over the course of their career, Jimmy Eat World have sold venues such as Saint Andrews Hall (Detroit) to capacity, as well as 713 Music Hall (Houston), and The Masonic (San Francisco).

    Awesome

    by Jonny on 7/18/23

Show was amazing. Venue was amazing. Good was pricey, but that was to be expected. Only drawback was there was only one guy running the only merch table for all three bands, so the line was huge and slow (but not the merch guys fault, he was also awesome). But if you have a chance to see any of these bands, I highly recommend it.

Switched order of appearances, tons missed the show

    by Chris on 7/18/23

We were super bummed to get tickets to Jimmy Eat World, ft Manchester Orchestra, a billing that typically would mean Manchester Orchestra opened for Jimmy Eat World. You can imagine our disappointment when we showed up 90 minutes after the doors opened to find Jimmy Eat World halfway through their set. Based on the large group of people leaving and discussing it after their set, it was a prevalent theme. Be ware if you book this tour that Jimmy Eat World is opening for Manchester Orchestra.

    Good show

    by RipS on 7/18/23

I really wish Jimmy Eat World would have played longer and been the headliner. They played the newer singles that have been released as well as fan favorites. I went for Jimmy...enjoyed the opener The Middle Kids...and left during the headliner Manchester Orchestra as they were not to my liking.

    Great sound, energy, and atmosphere

    by S. R. B. on 12/31/22

One of the best concerts I've ever been to. They killed the music, lighting was great, stellar stage presence, and the crowd's energy was the best I'd ever been apart of. You can tell everyone in the building, band and all, was there for a great time!

The DC101-derland was an amazing show!

by Mark D on 12/10/22The Anthem - Washington

Talk opened the show and did a fantastic job with the short set he had. I was second most excited to see Silversun Pickups who played second and they were incredible! The Struts were absolutely amazing and there were many people there just to see them appear. The only song I know by Spoon is "The Way We Get By" which they played and the rest of their set was also incredible. Jimmy Eat World, I am absolutely in love with their latest album, "Surviving" which they only played one track from, "All The Way", which is my least favorite song on the album. So, that was a tad disappointing. I believe every other song they played was from "Bleed American" and "Futures", which are both incredible albums. I just wish they had played more of their muisc from this decade. :\

It was great! ... except the mix

by Anjan on 12/10/22The Anthem - Washington

All of the bands were excellent, and the venue, as always, made the experience wonderful. The one downside of the evening was the mix, particularly for Jimmy Eat World. It was very bass-heavy, and the vocals were not mixed very well.

Overall Great Experience with some annoying aspects.

by Music Enthusiast on 11/4/22Arizona Financial Theatre - Phoenix

First of all, Jimmy Eat World and PVRIS were amazing. Parking was easy and $5 cheaper if you prepay online vs. in person. Come early to avoid the long Merch lines. Food was above average. Bathroom lines were long, but moved quickly. Floors were super sticky. Annoying drunk people in seats that don't belong to them.

    Amazing!

by Melissa on 11/1/22Arizona Financial Theatre - Phoenix

The whole show was sooooo good from begging to end. 5 bands in one night and you didn’t feel cheated with content. It was cool to see 3 local AZ bands on one bill and PVRIS wicked awesome. I think this was my 4th Jimmy Eat World show, and they were just as good as the first time I saw them. New songs and the old staples. These guys are great. I’ll keep coming to see them as long as they keep playing shows.

    My Youth

by Jayqueline on 11/1/22Arizona Financial Theatre - Phoenix

I didn’t really care for the other bands. Just not my style. BUT…. I almost cried seeing Jimmy Eat World live!! I was a huge fan in my younger years and never had an opportunity to see them in concert. They were amazing!! All the memories of my youth came swarming back and how their music helped me get through some tough times in my life.

Loved the music. Some stuff just went wrong

by Ethan Kempton on 11/1/22Arizona Financial Theatre - Phoenix

A couple too many starters. Not my favorite. Probably took up 2.5 hours out of the 4 hour concert. Got a shirt that said Toronto on it because they ran out of phoenix ones. Pretty disappointed with that but when Jimmy was playing it was amazing.

    Amazing!!

by Les on 11/1/22Arizona Financial Theatre - Phoenix

Concert was amazing. The atmosphere and the bands played were phenomenal. One thing I would suggest are speakers over the middle of the pit. Because when you're in the middle of the pit, you can't hear what the people on stage are saying that well. Especially when people are talking over them. So maybe try and make that work. But other than that, phenomenal!!

Insultingly brief concert yet still amazing...

by Sarge on 11/1/22Arizona Financial Theatre - Phoenix

It's the first time Jimmy has played in Arizona as the lead band since 2015 and it seemed they couldn't wait to get off stage. They played a mere 9-10 songs and provided no encore to their LOCAL fans. I still can't believe it. Make no mistake, Jimmy's lead singer Jim Atkins, is nothing short of amazing. He was in top form and induced the same level of emotion as when I first saw the band almost 30 years ago in Mesa. I can't say the same for some of the other members of the band as they seemed to be mired in a drug-induced apathy for their own fans. Who knows! Really kind of sad. On top of this insultingly-short concert, the band missed a huge opportunity to really connect with their local fans many of whom have supported them for almost 30 years.

    Great show....subpar mix

by kait35 on 11/1/22Arizona Financial Theatre - Phoenix

Jimmy Eat World is one of my favorite bands. Seen them several times and know what they will bring to the stage however the mix at Arizona Financial Theater was not very good. WAY too much sub and low end, guitars and vocals too shallow. The front of house engineer just didn't seem to focus on balance as much as he did volume.

    Gimme more

by jetjaguar on 11/1/22Arizona Financial Theatre - Phoenix

Let me start out by saying everytime I see Jimmy Eat World live, they're great. Friday's show was no exception. But, the last time I saw them live was pre-pandemic at the Crescent Ballroom. They did a 21 song set in that 500+ capacity venue and it was loud and it was awesome. So, that set the bar for all of their shows in the future. I was just a little disappointed that it was only a 15 song setlist, especially if you look at other cities where they did between 19 and 23. I thought this being their home turf, we would get something extra. "Lucky Denver Mint" is my "price of admission" song. That's the one song I would pay the price of admission to hear just that song and only that song. It was played in previous cities, but not ours. Jimmy Eat World always gives it their all at every show, but I was left wanting more. That just shows how great they are, I guess.
