    Nick Lowe and Los Straitjackets

by Mrburnsnh on 11/6/23Brighton Music Hall presented by Citizens - Boston

This is an exquisite pairing of rock n' roll performers. Nick's witty lyrics and deep song catalog are perfectly accompanied by the wonderful musicianship of Los Straitjackets. A great experience.

Nick Lowe - Been great for 50 years…

by Nick Lowe fan on 11/4/23Brighton Music Hall presented by Citizens - Boston

Nick Lowe and Los Straitjackets never disappoint. They play Boston a couple of times a year in different venues. They were excellent. Nick played all the hits and newer stuff. Los Straitjackets are just a great surf guitar band. Finished with a couple encores for a great concert. First time at The Brighton Music. The space and stage are very small, almost to the point where the band of 5 could barely fit… Show was SRO even though tickets had assigned seats. 🎫

    FANTASTIC SHOW

    by TRNSNDNT on 7/14/23

Nick did all the classics and was in great voice. Los Straightjackets were amazing in their Mexican wrestler masks and playing ultimate surf music. Wild show that had me and my date in tears for the finale. Great show and the Birchmere can't be beat.

    Great show

    by MissedRockpileConcertIn1982 on 7/13/23

Nick Lowe gave a good show, almost overshadowed by his backing band, Los Straight Jackets, who put on an excellent mini-set of 6 songs during Lowe's concert. Lowe showing his age a bit at 74 but still brings a wide selection of the compelling tunes and lyrics from over the course of his career. Interesting choice to close the show with an acoustic version of Elvis Costello's "Alison', but then again Lowe did produce that album - and (joking) maybe trying to get even for Costello "owning"Lowe's "What's So Funny About Peace, Love and Understanding"for the past 40 years :-)

    The sound was terrible!!!

by DDogs on 8/16/22State Theatre - Portland

Way too loud, distorted and FEEDBACK!!! Who was at the soundboard? It sure wasn't anyone who cared how great these bands were. This should have been a crazy fun, upbeat concert and it wasn't worth staying till the end. Disappointing!

Nick was good, but the sound was terrible. Feedback, harmonies completely buried, Nick nearly buried at times. Very disappointing

Brilliant songs, old Brit rocking cool, backing surf guitars

by The skeptical cardiologist on 11/16/21

I've never seen Nick Lowe in concert before but have been a fan since 1979. He has written lots of great pop/rockabilly/country songs and been part of tremendous bands (Rockpile, Brinsley Schwarz) and his performance at Delmar Hall was wonderful. This was my first visit to Delmar Hall which is only a mile from my house and I love the venue. It fits up to 750 people and this concert was set up as a "general admission". For those arriving early there are lots of seats and tables to grab, all with good sight lines and sound. I arrived at 815 pm and listened to the OK opening duo who gabbed a little too much. I stood behind the last row of chairs/tables and. was very happy with the view and the sound. Nick Lowe and the los Straitjackets came on at 9 or so and played half a dozen Lowe songs then he left the stage and the 'jackets played a few songs of their own. They turned out to be a totally instrumental surf guitar on steroids band and were entertaining for a while. I was beginning to think we see no more of Nick when he strolled back on and played half a dozen more songs including his more well-known songs. All in all a wonderful night and great to back watching indoor live music. Lowe was also very happy to be playing live for the first time in 2 years.

I had never seen Nick Lowe in person. He was great! Loved Los Straightjacket! Great venue and parking was not a problem. Hope they come back next year

    Excellent show.

by shamin1955 on 11/16/21Delmar Hall - Saint Louis

Sound was superb. A class act. The los Straightjackets were a bit unusual @ “first look”, but we’re great backing up & solo performance!

Great to be at a fun show (or anywhere!)

by BUBUSTL on 11/16/21Delmar Hall - Saint Louis

What a fun show! Both Los Straitjackets and Nick Lowe are true professionals, and they give the audience a polished-but-not-slick performance. Lowe played his hits, some middle-deep cuts, and “some songs from our new record” (about which he made a joke that that scares audiences). Los Straitjackets’ jangly, surf-rock sound complements his pure pop for now people to perfection. And the short set they played inside the larger rocked hard, with energy, technique, showmanship, and rubber chickens. The venue sounds just great. What an outstanding place to catch a show. So glad I went. Total fun. Let’s do it again.

40 years awaiting, and it was so worth it!

    by Ohio Eric! on 9/27/19

Nick Lowe concert in Columbus, OH the other night was magical. He is such a polished songwriter and singer that his music flows from him via his supportive audience, then through your body like a wave of Peace, Love & Understanding. Los Straightjackets adds some fun and solid sound. It was a very entertaining show, his rockin' songs rocked, and his slow songs put a hush throughout the theater. Together, they performed many well-known Nick Lowe classics, some newer released songs, and he even introduced a brand-new song they are currently 'practicing' to be released sometime soon. If you are looking for a great time, clean songs and a trip down memory lane; go see Nick Lowe! So fun, so fun.

    Fantastic Show

by Chris on 9/27/19Speaker Jo Ann Davidson Theatre (formerly Capitol Theatre) - Columbus

Amazing show! Both Nick Lowe and Los Straitjackets were awesome! Nick’s vocals, particularly on the encore songs, “What’s so funny ‘bout Peace, Love, and Understanding?” and “Alison,” we’re top notch. And Los Straitjackets proved a capable backing band as well as a terrific leading act on their instrumental set. Much better show than we anticipated! At all costs, you must see them in concert if you get the chance...and buy their recordings...you won’t regret it!

    Super talented pairing

    by W. E. on 9/23/19Tralf - Buffalo

Both Nick and Los Straightjackets wrre amazing. Entertsinjng and talented as can be. Gave 4 instead of 5 stars because he didn't do Sound of Breaking Glass (a favorite of mine) and the service in the venue was absolutely horrible. But go see him.

    A breath of fresh air

by Outstanding show from an abominable showman! on 9/23/19Tralf - Buffalo

Not your typical show. Easily rivaled the other Tralf show that was also one of my favorites, Randy Newman.

    Best yet

    by Robert P on 9/23/19Tralf - Buffalo

It's been over seven years since Nick Lowe last played Toronto, so it was great to have him back again for two shows. What made this show "The Best" over the last twenty years, is the back up band "Los Straitjackets". They are a tight instrumental band with their own following and recordings. By adding Nick Lowe as the vocalist and his catalog of songs, the show is truly a winner. Nick Lowe still remains the best value for your entertainment dollar.

    Nick Never Disappoints

    by B. S. on 5/19/19Bijou Theatre - Knoxville

What a great, intimate evening. Nick, with his acoustic guitar, kept the audience entranced throughout the performance. The last song, "What's So Funny About Peace, Love, and Understanding?" was the highlight. Nick had the whole crowd mesmerized that you could have heard a pin drop. The Bijou Theater is a great venue for a night with Nick.

    Sensational

    by goalteneder5 on 4/14/19The Wilbur - Boston

Los Straitjackets were awesome, very tight Band. Nick was incredible, at 70 years Old his voice sounds as good as it ever did. His Solo Acoustic Night Cap of Elvis Costello's Alison was so good, you could hear a pin drop. The show was far better than I had anticipated Very Professional and the Sound was Crystal Clear. Los Straitjackets uses simple gear, they don't overpower one another. Great Great Show. Top 5 for me and I have seen at least a hundred or two.
