About

Widely considered a feminist icon, Grammy winner Ani DiFranco is the mother of the DIY movement, being one of the first artists to create her own record label in 1990. While she has been known as the "Little Folksinger," her music has embraced punk, funk, hip hop, jazz, soul, electronica and even more distant sounds. Her collaborators have included everyone from Utah Phillips to legendary R&B saxophonist Maceo Parker to Prince. Her memoir No Walls and the Recurring Dream was a New York Times Top 10 best seller in 2019, and her debut children's book The Knowing is out now. DiFranco recently completed a 5-month run on Broadway as 'Persephone' in the Tony and Grammy Award-winning Best Musical, Hadestown. Her 23rd album Unprecedented Sh!t is out now, and a second children's book Show Up and Vote was released in August of 2024.

  • Great show!

by Catlgirl on 9/19/25Humphreys Concerts By the Bay - San DiegoRating: 5 out of 5

Humphreys is an intimate venue with great views throughout no one is far from the stage. Downside is how close the chairs are together. But when you have a great artist, doesn’t even matter. Great show!

  • Premium Venue with a Premium Artist

by rkeyfour on 9/17/25Humphreys Concerts By the Bay - San DiegoRating: 5 out of 5

What an exceptional, outdoor, venue, taking advantage of the perfect San Diego weather. The warmup band, Tone Yards, was great, and Ani DiFranco always puts on an exceptional concert. Playing both older and newer songs was great, the sound was mixed perfectly, and the guys in her band did a great job.

  • Mostly newer music, venue was sloppy

by Ani on 4/24/25Somerville Theatre - SomervilleRating: 3 out of 5

First time at the Somerville Theatre - AV fail. The cellist had issues with his sound setup right off the bat, which seemed slow to be fixed. The light display also left him randomly in the dark when the other players were spotlit, even while Ani was directly gesturing at him and congratulating him on an award he received. Yikes. I always enjoy seeing Ani but she saved almost all of her older material for the last handful of songs, which was disappointing. Wish she had sprinkled them in throughout, for the old school fans. She still rocks of course! Hope she ditches Somerville in the future and comes back to the Cabot in Beverly - beautiful show there the last time I saw her.

  • Accommodating staff

by Carolyn on 4/23/25Somerville Theatre - SomervilleRating: 4 out of 5

We purchased front row tickets as we are big fans. However, there was a hearing impaired fan in the road behind us, and therefore the signers were stationed directly in front of us so we could not see the performance at all. I approach the staff and they receded us in the front row on the other side of the stage, thankfully, we appreciated that. We wish they had thought of this prior to the performance. As we did get stuck in folding chairs, but ultimately it was a good outcome. as always the show was great.

  • Amazing Show as Always

by AmyVanJoyfulGurl on 4/20/259:30 CLUB - WashingtonRating: 5 out of 5

Ani always puts on a great live show. My favorite living songwriter, hands down. Set was missing a lot of the deep cuts I was hoping for, but that's inevitable, given a 30-year career, with a new release pretty much every year. The surprise cut from Hadestown made up for it, LOL. Venue is the perfect size. Crowd was respectful and diverse. Wryn did a great job opening as well. So glad I was able to attend.

  • As good live as she was 20 years ago

by Sdeiuliis on 4/16/25Roxian Theatre - Mc Kees RocksRating: 5 out of 5

Awesome show, awesome venue. Saw Ani in my 20’s, and she killed it in my 40’s. Her messaging is more relevant today than ever!

Ani never disappoints and it was an amazing concert. The opening act was awesome as well

  • Amazing as always!

    by Joyfulgirl34 on 2/5/25The Fillmore - San FranciscoRating: 5 out of 5

I've been going to Ani shows since 1999 and love them just as must now as then. We really need more outspoken artists like her, especially now! She is such a great musician and lyricist, and the band rocks!

  • Gettin Groovy @ the Bellwether

by KSummerZ on 1/27/25The Bellwether - Los AngelesRating: 5 out of 5

This review is for my entire experience from waiting in line to enter to being wished a very pleasant evening by the Bellwether staff. Every single person we encountered from box office to bar tenders to merch vendors were so incredibly inviting and friendly. Great vibes at the Bellwether all around. And as for the legendary Ani Difranco, I could never express how much her presence and talent and poetry speaks to me and this show was nothing less the her best. Love love love her!! Rock n roll Rightous Babe!!!!
