About
IGGY POP IN CONCERT:
Thereís a reason they call Iggy Pop the Godfather of Punk -- he was one of the first to tap into the raw power of rock and combine it with snarling attitude to create a new genre of music. Whether heís swinging the microphone over his head, running around the stage, or contorting his body into a provocative pose, fans canít take their eyes off the uninhibited frontman anytime he performs. Pop oozes rock and roll swagger as he screams into the microphone on ìI Wanna Be Your Dogî, but he's just as compelling when he shifts moods for the cool sexiness of ìNight Clubbingî or the gleeful abandon of ìReal Wild Childî. Now Pop is back on the road with special guests Josh Homme, Dean Fertita, and Matt Helders to bring the Post Pop Depression tour to fans across North America. When an icon like Iggy Pop teams up with some of alternative rockís best musicians, fans can count on explosive performances theyíll definitely want to see go off.
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
James Osterberg, Jr. grew up in the suburbs of Detroit, where his parents gave him unlimited freedom to explore his creative whims. After playing in various bands (including The Iguanas, which inspired him to change his name to Iggy Pop), he started the hard-driving rock band The Stooges with three of his high school friends. At the Stooges early shows, Iggyís stage antics became the stuff of punk rock myth, ranging from self-mutilation to bizarre surprises like smearing peanut butter all over his body. The three albums the band released -- a self-titled debut (1969), Fun House (1970), and Raw Power (1973) -- are some of the most important precursors to the punk rock movement. But in 1974 the band called it quits due to financial issues and Popís increasingly debilitating drug dependency. Fortunately, he made fast friends with David Bowie, who employed Pop (one of his biggest musical influences) as a backup singer. The two moved to Berlin in 1977 to get clean together and record Iggyís solo debut, The Idiot. Popís fortunes finally changed for good in 1983 when Bowieís version of ìLittle China Girlî (which he co-wrote) became a huge hit for the British rocker. The influx of cash helped support Iggy while he went into rehab, and in 1986 he re-emerged with his first chart hit ìReal Wild Childî. Pop reunited with The Stooges in 2004, playing shows to packed houses and finally enjoying the fruits of the punk rock movement that he had helped inspire. Despite his winding road to success, Iggy Pop is now regarded as one of rock's most influential musicians, both for his boundary-pushing live performances and his flair for reinvention in the studio. In 2016 Pop joined forces with Josh Homme (Queens of the Stone Age) for the album Post Pop Depression, which the pair will support with a highly anticipated tour.
Rating: 5 out of 5by Suzzzzzzzzzzzz on 5/1/16Greek Theatre - Los Angeles Rating: 5 out of 5by KROQERSTALKER1 on 5/1/16Greek Theatre - Los Angeles I I go to lots of concerts. The main reason I bought these tickets is that Josh Homme had collaborated with Iggy and I was curious.... Hats off to all, it was an amazing show. China Girl was a gift to the audience. Closest thing to David Bowie we will see live again. Iggy is a live wire and still wears his Red panties. Almost all the songs had us up and dancing and singing. Worth every penny.
Rating: 5 out of 5by Anonymous on 5/1/16Greek Theatre - Los Angeles What an awesome show this was last night! It was so Goth in the very best possible way. Iggy was in full crooner mode... And killing it. Although he resembled ET to me, he still was all over the stage. I thought Josh Homme played the perfect backseat. He was as front seat as you could get, from the backseat... In a good way. Overall I thought it was a splendid good time.

by MVPete on 5/1/16Greek Theatre - Los AngelesOne of the better shows I've ever been to. Iggy Pop was amazing. Lots of energy and beating his chest like King Kong. Josh Homme kiled it too.

by GoGoth on 5/1/16Greek Theatre - Los AngelesIggy is amazing! He is s 69 and has the energy of a 30 year old. The show was great and he sounded really good. The only thing that prevented my review from being five stars is that he played almost the whole new album and too few classics. I prefer a show where the artist plays a few new songs and all the songs we already love. I get that he needs to market the new album.
Rating: 4 out of 5 Iggy Pop with Josh Homme once in a lifetime event!

Rating: 5 out of 5 3 Hours of Solid Pop!
by faithfulsherper on 5/1/16United Palace Theatre - New YorkAlways love a concert I can just stroll up the street to in my neighborhood, and the United Palace Theatre certainly chooses their shows carefully. This vaudeville relic was packed to the rafters tonight for Iggy Pop, complete with a well rehearsed and super tight power outfit of a backing band. Iggy never fails to disappoint and this show was solid from start to finish. Opening with Lust for Life, Iggy and his group set to the tone from the very beginning. Was pleased to hear a homage to his friend David Bowie in there with China Girl. The new songs weren't half bad either. If this man is at the end of his career, you wouldn't know it....
Rating: 5 out of 5 Post Pop!
by Anonymous on 5/1/16Greek Theatre - Los AngelesSure Iggi is not getting any younger, but he still has a planty of raw power in him. It was my long time dream to see him in action and I am glad I got a chance to see him and to hear him! It was also nice to see the well aged people going to the concert with their teenager kids. And the kids were prepared! They knew the alone and they could sing along. My sit was a bit far from the stage, but after all it does not matter.
Rating: 5 out of 5 Excellent show
by Jklmhewt on 5/1/16Greek Theatre - Los AngelesThe show was fantastic. Iggy put on a great show. Interacted with the Crowd as per usual and all the guys sounded great. Josh and Matt sounded great and were grooving. First time at the Greek theatre and it did not disappoint
Rating: 5 out of 5 Catch Iggy before he retires
by ValleyChick on 5/1/16Greek Theatre - Los AngelesFor this tour, Iggy is backed by some rock geniuses: Josh Homme, Dean Fertita, and Troy Van Leeuwen of Queens of the Stone Age, and Matt Helders of Arctic Monkeys. What you'll get is awesome musicianship with Iggy's crazy stage antics. It's hard to believe Iggy is almost 70, because he is so high energy through the show. His singing voice is still solid, and even though he has a limp, he moves all over the stage, stage diving and running into the crowd. Iggy and the band played a lot of songs from Post Pop Depression, but it was nice to hear classics like Lust for Life and Passenger. This show is a must-see. You won't regret it.

by BDizzle on 4/25/16Fox Theatre Detroit - DetroitThis was my first(and most likely, my only) time that I got to see Iggy Pop and he put on a heck of a show. Extremely glad that I got to see him once in my lifetime!

by hollywoodtracy on 4/23/16The Fillmore Miami Beach at Jackie Gleason Theater - Miami BeachMy husband and I are both huge Josh Homme fans, especially Queens of the Stone Age. We also both love Iggy - although he prefers the Stooges whereas I love his solo stuff, especially the Bowie records. I knew I would love this collaboration as soon as I heard about it and I was right. It took a little longer to grow on my husband, but now he loves it too. Iggy has pushed his body to its limits performing live all these years and it shows. But his voice is still magnificent, even with a cold he claimed to have and apologized for. He still sounds amazing. And his voice with Homme doing background is just so sexxxy! I'm so glad we got to see this live. Josh has said Iggy is one of his biggest heroes and you could tell by the way he and the rest of the band were dancing and smiling ear to ear the whole show. This was one for the ages!
Rating: 5 out of 5 Don't miss Iggy! Unforgettable!
by Lipstick07 on 4/22/16The Fillmore Miami Beach at Jackie Gleason Theater - Miami BeachI've been following Iggy for over 40 years and finally got to see him Live. He did not disappoint and had the entire audience completely spellbound. He was very entertaining and even though he mentioned that he was sick and it was affecting his higher register but he gave all he had, The show was wonderful and his band was Super! Really a great show...Wouldn't miss it if I were you.
