About

Dashboard Confessional on Tour

Expect robust crowd participation when seeing Dashboard Confessional, a band that sonically splits the difference between R.E.M.-like jangle-rock and moodier emo-pop. The group favors cathartic songwriting full of deep, meaningful lyrics, ensuring that beloved singles such as "Screaming Infidelities" and "Vindicated" draw loud audience sing-alongs.

Early in their career, Dashboard Confessional toured with like-minded peers Weezer and Brand New, while in 2007 they went on the Rock Band Live Tour with Panic! at the Disco. In recent years, Dashboard Confessional have toured with Third Eye Blind and, in 2020, launched a 20th anniversary tour celebrating their vast catalog.

Dashboard Confessional in Concert

Chris Carrabba initially started Dashboard Confessional as a solo acoustic project when he was still fronting another band, the Florida-based emo rock act Further Seems Forever. When the vocalist/guitarist/songwriter left that group to focus on his own music, he quickly issued the second Dashboard Confessional album, The Places You Have Come to Fear the Most, in 2001. That album went gold and contained the song "Screaming Infidelities," which became a Top 25 alternative radio chart hit and spawned a music video that won the MTV2 award at the MTV Video Music Awards.

From there, Dashboard Confessional was off and running. Album number three, 2003's gold-certified A Mark, a Mission, a Brand, a Scar, reached No. 2 on the Billboard Top 200 and spawned the hit "Hands Down." The song "Vindicated" featured prominently in the 2004 film Spider-Man 2 and reached No. 2 on the modern rock charts. Carrabba and crew continued on a hot streak with another gold album (2006's Dusk and Summer, which also topped the U.S. Top Rock Albums chart) and more studio work. Dashboard Confessional released the studio album Crooked Shadows in 2018 and celebrated their 20th anniversary by releasing a greatest hits album, The Best Ones of the Best Ones, in 2020.

    Great Short Yet Sweet Show

by Taylor on 11/8/21Ryman Auditorium - Nashville

The concert was great, Chris Carrabba is really good and still has it etc., I was just surprised how short the show was. He came on stage a little bit before 9pm and the show ended at 10:15pm. Maybe that’s the normal concert length for a Dashboard show, but I’m just not used to it a concert ending that early. All and all had a great time though!

    Amazing!

by Bev on 11/8/21Ryman Auditorium - Nashville

Loved this show!! I had never been to the Ryman before and was amazed at how gorgeous it was both inside and out! The show itself was intimate and the staff was very polite and helpful. Would love to return in the future.

Perfect ambience and the service at the venue was on point. Nothing need to be said about the band and the music as it was perfect as usual.

    Blast from the Past!

    by R. M. on 3/12/20Newport Music Hall - Columbus

What an amazing concert! Chris played all of my old favorites and brought back those memories I associated with each of his songs. Great stage presence and he seemed genuinely happy to get to share his music with all of us.

The bands were great, stage AE though is garbage

by Jimmy on 3/10/20STAGE AE - Pittsburgh

The actual bands were great. Dashboard and TGUK were awesome as always. Stage AE is a different story. Everytime I'm there I promise myself I'm never going back but here we are. As always stage ae is the slowest entry/security queue by far of any venue. We arrived an hour after doors and still waited over 30 minutes outside before we could get through security. This isn't a one time thing either. Last time we were her for an outdoor concert we arrived 15 minutes before doors opens and didn't get into the venue until the first band was finishing their set. The sound is an issue as well.....while not terrible it is average at best, also there's not enough restrooms for a sold out indoor show. There's a full bar upstairs with a big empty hallway because there's no really no place to watch the show from up there. This space is included in the fire code which results in the downstairs area being completely shoulder to shoulder so if you have to use the 1 restroom downstairs and you're on the opposite side plan on spending 5 minutes each way to make your way through the masses as there is no open walkway to be found anywhere on the first floor.

    Amazing show

Chris and crew are amazing. Newport needs to streamline the doors process, though.

Great show, but not great venue.

by TheNickiOfDoom on 3/10/20STAGE AE - Pittsburgh

Dashboard Confessional was great as always. They never fail to put on a hell of a show. Stage AE, on the other hand, is not great. It was a sold out show, which is fine, but that entire place was packed like a sardine can. Getting to the restroom was a nightmare. Forget trying to get a drink at the bar. It was impossible to move. I think next time I'll just travel to Cleveland. The House of Blues is way better.

    Venue Blues

    by B. K. on 3/10/20STAGE AE - Pittsburgh

Inside Stage AE is the worst place to see a concert. It is over crowded and uncomfortable. You can barely move, people are shoving to get in and out, the view is horrible at that point and it’s just not enjoyable. Save your money and don’t go there unless it’s an outdoors concert.

bittersweet notes of angst and storytelling sincerity

    by V. M. on 3/6/20Saint Andrews Hall - Detroit

The show was definately one I will never forget! I sat in the High Society bar imbibing a pre-show cocktail waiting on a friend that after 26 yrs of friendship choose to ghost me on our 4 month planned in advance night out. I being me accepted this as a severing of ties and found my way to a single open balcony seat. Onward and Upward always. I listened intently and was pleasantly thrilled to hear all the songs. I had forgotten about this band. I dusted off a CD of Dash that I had from the 2000's and started youtubing there newer stuff. It was all so fitting/ surreal for what had just happened. St. Andrew's is a great small venue to see a show! Carrabba's vocals and acoustics were spot on. I danced, sang, and let the energy envelop me. My timing was impecable...I inched my way from the balcony ,blazed my own trail, and ended the show at the front of the stage. Took home a Chris Kamarada, drumstick.(A Vic Firth American Classic 5B) My name is Vicki, so that was a perfect sign the universe offered that I was meant to travel this gig solo and that being steadfast/strong and letting the music guide me will always take one such as myself to higher positive plateau!

Dashboard was amazing! One of the best concerts I've ever been to in the last 15 years. Also, I forgot how much I like the House of Blues. Cool venue and I'm 5'1 and I can actually see the stage and the performer! It's a struggle sometimes.

The best one of the best ones

by Arabella on 2/29/20The Fillmore - San Francisco

This is my second time seeing them live. Every experience is different. DC does not have a rehearsed set, story, style. Chris is honest he really says what he feels is right for the moment and sings what he feels is right for the moment. That is what I love about him. Every experience is going to be unique. And I’d hands down see them again the next time they’re in town. Highly recommend.
