Come From Away on Tour
The true story of the small town that welcomed the world.
Broadway's COME FROM AWAY has won Best Musical all across North America!
The New York Times Critics' Pick takes you into the heart of the remarkable true story of 7,000 stranded passengers and the small town in Newfoundland that welcomed them. Cultures clashed and nerves ran high, but uneasiness turned into trust, music soared into the night, and gratitude grew into enduring friendships.
Don't miss this breathtaking new musical written by Tony® nominees Irene Sankoff and David Hein, and helmed by this year's Tony-winning Best Director, Christopher Ashley. Newsweek cheers, "It takes you to a place you never want to leave!"
On 9/11, the world stopped. On 9/12, their stories moved us all.
I loved the show. I missed a lot of words though because the music was too loud compared to the voices.
Such an Amazing Heartwarming story Performed so well I would pay to see it Again
My only concern was that there weren't enough opportunities to applaud a fantastic case. The show was so high energy that the action and singing didn't give us a chance to show our appreciation. It was a wonderful birthday present from my wife. I would like to think that we would all respond like Gander did.
Awesome! It brought tears to my eyes….."""…………. ……………………….
We all "come from away"- and yet we are all connected - a message brought to life with depth, humor and heart by the touring ensemble that recently visited the RiverPark Center in Owensboro KY. "Come From Away"focused on a tiny microcosm of the people who found themselves stranded in Gander, Newfoundland, when U.S. air space was closed on 9/11. This performance brought to life the spectrum of emotions felt by passengers and the townspeople who transcended seemingly impossible challenges to feed, shelter and comfort their unexpected guests. Reflecting the truth of the human experience, this show featured drama, despair, tragedy, humor, heartbreak and love. The phrase "Never Forget"is honored in so many ways, and on so many levels.
Wonderful performances, great story filled with meaning and heart, music that gets your toes tapping. Made me tear up a little. Laughed out loud a lot!
I loved the energy of this show! It was a well told story, fast paced, and made me appreciative of the citizens of “The Rock” for their kindness and love.
Go see and then go again!!! It was sooo good! Such talented performers!
Signage could be improved for location of stairs. The ushers were extremely helpful, but it was hard to navigate without them. I enjoyed the 'smaller' feel of the theater while enjoying a high-quality broadway show.
This show… the storyline, cast & musicians, everything - simply stellar. When I think about the show, I get chill bumps. Planning for the next time I can see it again.
Come From Away is a magnificent story of strength in uncertain times, told with a sprinkle of humor and a lot of emotion. The performance was exciting and engaging. The simple staging and bright ensemble came together for one hell of a ride!
The musical was entertaining without a doubt! It was comical and the cast seemed to mesh and have fun playing their parts. The only con was that the lyrics couldn't be understood over the loud music. It wasn't until I saw the documentary on TV that I came to an understanding of what the singing was all about. The musical introduced me to a warm-hearted little town and the charity of its people.
An amazing and inspiring remembrance of an event in our history! So very well written and performed even the welcome into the theater complete with Huntsville Firefighters playing bagpipes! We will NEVER forget.
This was the best musical ever! I loved the true story! The accents were right on! May God bless the cast and crew and the people of Gander!!
Sensitively covers the truth behind some of suffering after the 9/11 attacks. Diverted travelers flood a small Canadian village for days which changed the world, and their worlds forever. Touching.
Having seen this show a few times, I knew to be prepared for a range of real emotional moments. Well. I wasn't prepared for this cast and this group of musicians. Unbelievable. I think, after a potty break, the audience would have stayed to watch and listen to the entire show again. I know I would. There aren't enough stars to rate this thrilling and moving production.
This play is well acted and the choreography is phenomenal. For those of us who were alive and old enough to understand what was going on back on 9/11, be aware- this play is quite emotional and quite capable of bringing it all back - the shock, the fear, the anger... But it also brings back how we all pulled together, put aside petty differnces, ignored politics, and were one people. It brings back the sadness of tha day, but ends with the message of hope that best summarized how we - and the world - responded.
Based on the events in the Newfoundland town of Gander during the week following the September 11 attacks, when 38 planes, carrying approximately 7,000 passengers, were ordered to land unexpectedly at Gander International Airport. The residents of the small town of Gander opened their hearts and homes to the 7,000 passengers who urgently needed help with food, clothes, places to sleep, and a welcome place in the midst of terrorist attacks in NYC, the Pentagon and Pennsylvania. Very moving and a wonderful story telling about how these residents reached out to strangers in their time of heartbreaking need.
We "Kissed the cod"not knowing it would upgrade our tickets from balcony to front row! I was concerned we would be too close to get the overall feel of the stage, but I was so wrong! It was amazing! From tears to laughter within seconds. So well done. A life experience not to be forgotten. Bravo!
Have been to Gander a couple of times and struck by the quiet pride of the Newfoundlanders who told us about this show. What an entertaining and moving tribute to the goodness of those fine people, during one of the worst periods of time for all in North America. Cast and staging was excellent. Will want to see it again!
