About

This September, dive deep under the sea with Encore Theatre Collective as they bring their spectacular production of Disney’s The Little Mermaid to the Bruce Mason Centre!

In a kingdom fathoms below, Ariel, King Triton’s youngest daughter, wishes to pursue the human Prince Eric in the world above, bargaining with the evil sea witch Ursula, to trade her tail for legs. But the bargain is not what it seems, and Ariel needs the help of her colourful friends, Flounder the fish, Scuttle the seagull, and Sebastian the crab to restore order in the ocean.

Based on the 1989 Academy Award winning film, The Little Mermaid features some of Disney’s most irresistible songs, including “Part Of Your World”, “Kiss The Girl”, and “Poor Unfortunate Souls”.

Since launching in 2019, Encore Theatre Collective has dazzled thousands of audience members across Auckland with their magical and memorable productions, and continues to redefine the standard of youth theatre in New Zealand. Disney’s The Little Mermaid promises to be no exception, with astonishing costumes, stunning flying effects and an incredible cast of the country’s finest young performers.

Disney’s The Little Mermaid is theatrical entertainment that will enchant the whole family – what more is you looking for?

    The Little Mermaid

by Lifeguarddonna on 8/4/14Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts - Raleigh

The singing was wonderful and everyone loved Sebastian with his crazy antics. Didn't know before this show that Ursula and King Triton were brother and sister and that Ursula killed Ariel's mother.

by jsmith744 on 8/4/14Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts - Raleigh

I took my 13 year old daughter and we loved it!!! The actors had amazing voices and were excellent actors. The actor playing the role of Sebastian killed it. He was by far my favorite part of the musical. Would recommend this show to all, young or old.

    Wonderful show!

by thelips on 8/3/14Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts - Raleigh

I have seen this show on Broadway, and while the sets may not have been as elaborate, the talent of the main performers was just as good. Well done...I could have sat through it again as soon as it ended!

    Very fun and imaginative

by Raccoonlover89 on 8/2/14Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts - Raleigh

I went to this show with my mom (I'm 25 years old) as this was my favorite Disney movie as a child. We went as a belated Mother's Day & Birthday gift. The show was so fun. The acting was good, even from our seats on the side. The singing/ voices were great. But my favorite bit was actually the costumes. I felt there were super ingenious and was so impressed at how the mermaids were able to walk but still almost give the perception of swimming. It was obvious that they spent a lot of energy into making this a great performance and we were not at all disappointed.

    An Evening of Underwater Delight!!!!!

by 3faeries on 8/1/14Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts - Raleigh

This was a surprise birthday gift for my 10-year-old niece from my three daughters. Needless to say, she was thrilled! From the costuming and set to the incredibly talented cast, it was a truly magical experience. We were not familiar with the "new" songs that are included in the musical version (vs. the movie soundtrack), but they were absolutely enchanting. Prince Eric's "Her Voice" was a particular favorite of mine and my girls LOVED Scuttle's "Positoovity". I just can't say enough about the talented cast!!! It was humorous, touching, and comes highly recommended....

    A cartoon?

by EbdREVIS on 8/1/14Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts - Raleigh

Lots of talented performers and colorful costumes. We were disappointed by the use of cartoon-like animation on a screen. I am confident that the cast and crew could have provided us with a theatrical performance rather than rely on an poorly animated mermaid swimming to the surface. Other than that, it was about what I expected. An entertaining evening but nothing extraordinary.
