    Amazing Production!!!

by blackbeauty007 on 4/6/19Minskoff Theatre - New York

The Lion King production was mesmerizing from beginning to end! The costumes, lighting, and special effects were all creatively done in such a way that allowed the audience to step into the Animal Kingdom. The entire cast and production team used a variety of music, rhythms, vocals, and dances to enhance the South African influence. The role Tshidi Manye who played Rafiki was sensational! I also enjoyed the hilarious lines shared between Fred Berman who played Timon and Ben Jeffrey who played Pumbaa. I highly recommend this Broadway production to people of all ages, a must-see!

Lion King is the Pride of Bdwy

by Pegann on 4/3/19Minskoff Theatre - New York

My husband took me to see The Lion King as he had seen it and I had always wanted to. From the second the show opened my heart was pounding. The show is amazing. I had a little boy next to me that never moved the entire show. He was hooked too! It was glorious and I think I was smiling through it the entire time. Amazing wardrobe and how they made the scenes come alive was breathtaking. Absolutely beautiful. You can't help but applaud after each scene or song. This is what Broadway is all about!

    Disappointed

by Mom & her son on 4/1/19Minskoff Theatre - New York

I saw the lion king with my elder son 12 years ago. It was EXCELLENT! So, I was very excited to bring my younger son to this performance. I left the theatre tremendously disappointed, the show simply lacked energy. The dancers looked tired & solo vocalists weak, lacking thunder & emotion. Frankly, it’s the absence of Afr Americans dark skinned talent that makes me wonder who’s doing the casting! From the drummers on the balcony to the actors on stage this show look second grade due to the lack of dark skinned lead singing and dancing talent! This is NYC the average Afr Amer church would have a singer that can sing “Shadowland” & blow the audience away. Again, what going on with casting? I wonder! IDK, seeing the show a second time especially in the new Theatre, I’d thought it would be just as good or better than the first time. This show doesn’t rise above a high school or college drama dept performance, certainly not broadway.
