My review is not against ABGT's The Weekender... I love A&B! I love the Anjuna Fam! The Gorge itself is a marvelous venue... it sells itself. But this was our first Weekender; this was our first time at The Gorge, and we were disappointed by several things. First: the add-on purchase of our camping pass. It should have been made clear during the purchase process that the camping I selected was an "add-on"and could therefore NOT be transferred alone, but it had to be transferred along with my ticket should I need to exchange/resell. I was not aware of this as I made my initial ticket purchase. My camping plans changed, and I could not resell the camping pass that I had purchased, so it went used. What a waste!
We ended up upgrading to the "Retreat Package"tickets once we arrived at the campgrounds. Again, being our first Weekender, we had heard the Retreat Package (aka VIP) was really nice, and things advertised included: shaded viewing, seating options, cooling stations, water refill stations, etc. Unfortunately, many of these things were missing! VIP does come with the nice/comfy/AC'd port-o-potties (that's pretty standard for VIP), but we found several of them were either without soap or the soap dispenser was broken, so there was just some random bag of soap (that should be in a soap dispenser) that we ended up "milking"to even get soap. My bf went into the men's restrooms to find NO soap at all! There was NO shade in the VIP Viewing area, and instead you had to go all the way to the VIP Lounge to get any shade, but that area was NOT within view of the main stage! And there was hardly any "seating options"in the VIP Viewing area. The "Cooling Station"was literally one large misting fan. There was no water refill station within VIP Viewing. You had to exit VIP or go to the Lounge just to refill water. For the size of the VIP area & amount of people in that heat - all of this was inexcusable. We were HIGHLY disappointed in the VIP/Retreat Package Experience - given the amount that we spent. Then we discovered that PAST Weekender experiences were different (as people shared photos/videos of shade structures at the previous Weekender). The "excuse"sent to Retreat Package holders were just that - excuses. One should NOT falsely advertise and not deliver on amenities. Or if they knew they could not accommodate, then notify guests so that we can come prepared. Who is at fault for not delivering what was advertised? No need to point fingers - just remedy the situation and provide guests with some type of partial refund.
