by MKMP on 5/15/11Broadway Playhouse at Water Tower Place - Chicago

The Chicago Broadway Playhouse prodution of Working is outstanding in every way - from the staging to the vibrant cast to the scene transitions. This was our second time seeing it and it only got better. The cast is excellent with each one having terrific individual moments along with great ensemble chemistry...true Broadway caliber peformances...it touches every emotion and you'll walk out of the theater uplifted and in great admiration of a great production.

    Working

by AMRL on 5/14/11Broadway Playhouse at Water Tower Place - Chicago

Great musical -- show had good energy and very interesting stories about people and their work-lives. I liked the artistic transitions between stories, the ironies between the stories, the juxtaposition of personalities and perspectives. And of course the characters changing into other characters in front of us. I found the tone about work more negative than positive (these people certainly were not examples of folks highly engaged and enthused about their work --- but then most of the situations were sad ones). . . but I suppose those are the stories that make "The Office" and "Dilbert" so effective. Unfortunately, work does produce a good number of casualties and provide a wealth of unbelievable content for theater.

    Working really works!

by amiable1 on 5/10/11Broadway Playhouse at Water Tower Place - Chicago

The singing was very good, two artists stood out. It was amazing that just six crew members could portray so many workers so realistically.

by Gregoxzx on 5/10/11Broadway Playhouse at Water Tower Place - Chicago

Working tells a wonderful story. For me it tells the story of not just the average working Chicagoan but, that of every hard working American. I recommend this show to all, It is time and money well spent!

    Working was freaking awesome!

by Crossface on 5/9/11Broadway Playhouse at Water Tower Place - Chicago

My wife has tried to culture me for years now. I have gone to other theatre events only to fall asleep half way through or check my watch constantly, hoping intermission will come and another drink will save me from the boredom. That said, Working was freaking awesome! I was entertained from start to finish. All of the actors were extremely talented and funny. They switched characters seamlessly, changing manerisms and accents with each new costume. They all sang beautifully and blew me away with the pure power of their voices. I LOVED IT!!!!

    Awesome

by Nurse1975 on 5/9/11Broadway Playhouse at Water Tower Place - Chicago

This musical was awesome!! It exceeded our expectations. It took us from laughing out loud to crying. It was truly wonderful. Probably not for kids, due to some language issues. These are adult themes. Unlikely that kids would understand.

Working was no work to watch!

by Indiana55 on 5/9/11Broadway Playhouse at Water Tower Place - Chicago

Fast paced, entertaining, great performances, very clever. I laughed and I cried, what more could you want from a musical? Theater is small and intimate, great for this show. Loved the way the actors changed costumes on stage to "become" a new character. Show really moved! One warning, there is no intermission so don't expect to get a bathroom break. However, the show was less than two hours so it was not a big deal for most people.

    Working is well worth seeing

by Thorntree on 5/8/11Broadway Playhouse at Water Tower Place - Chicago

We loved this show. Timely, funny, entertaining and sobering. The "working" theme is one we can all relate to. The audience truly gets an appreciation for the different types of jobs people work at spanning from construction worker to hedge fund manager. The actors were truly amazing --- moving in and out of different roles throughout the evening. The "backstage" like stage setting allowed us to see how these actors could transition so quickly from one character to the next.. Lots of great music with songs written by Steven Schwartz, James Taylor, and others. We highly recommend it! Only 90 minutes with no intermission.

    "Working" was awesome !!

by Calcityboy on 5/5/11Broadway Playhouse at Water Tower Place - Chicago

Being a Steelworker from Northwest Indiana, and growing up in the region. It really was easy to relate to. The play for sure hit home with the blue collar workers. The people who built not only the Region around Chcago but also America. I'm sure that anyone who has ever worked for a living would enjoy the Play. A plus for any adult to enjoy.

Working had it all humor, singing & a good message

by Nankee on 5/4/11Broadway Playhouse at Water Tower Place - Chicago

We went to a Sunday matinee & the theater was only half full. Maybe they should offer a discount for Sunday afternoons. We loved the show. Seats were spectacular, although I think most of the seats in the theatre would be good. Acting and singing were top of the line. Really liked the story which had many references to Chicago so that added a special highlight to seeing it in Chicago. Several very humorous parts to the show. Having a good laugh, enjoying wonderful voices makes you wonder why you don't take in a show more often. Highly recommend seeing this show.

    Working was captivating

by Javalady on 5/4/11Broadway Playhouse at Water Tower Place - Chicago

The stories told by the songs were somewhat sad, but ultimately uplifting in how in most cases people looked for the good in their situation and status in life. It was an interesting contrast to watch this musical after watching the royal wedding that morning. So much of our lives are shaped by the families into which we are born, and this musical captured that for the working class. This show was awesome in how it transformed the true life stories of regular working class people that Studs Terkel captured and put them in a context that made the stories entertaining and moving at the same time. The cast was amazing. Every cast member's voice and acting skills were awesome.

    Outstanding

by RSCR on 5/3/11Broadway Playhouse at Water Tower Place - Chicago

The performers began like a slow steam locomotive and began building steam as the show continued. "Working" is a tremendously satisfiying work of art to watch. The actor's characters portray occupations that everyone will relate to. At the play's conclusion we came away thoroughly excited and pleased.
