    Everyone should see "Working."

by mppaula on 6/3/11Broadway Playhouse at Water Tower Place - Chicago

This play was unforgettable and thought-provoking, as well as entertaining. Many messages to absorb about life. Excellent cast. They coped incredibly well with a technical glitch that required the whole performance to be done without benefit of microphones. An amazing acoustic performance that merited the standing ovation that they received.

    Working was wonderful!

by esen on 6/3/11Broadway Playhouse at Water Tower Place - Chicago

Although the show was a bit delayed due to sound system difficulties, it was actually to our benefit to hear the beauty of the performers voices. The delay didn't affect them at all and the show was amazing!

    Working was outstanding!!!

by Formerpoe on 6/3/11Broadway Playhouse at Water Tower Place - Chicago

I have always been a fan of Studs Terkel and knew that Working would be a quality production. Well, it was absolutely fantastic! I took my husband and he gave it rave reviews, too. The topic, the performers, the singing, the musicians, the people that helped the performers change their clothing for the different characters....it was a top-notch production!!! And, we want to mention that we really like that theater, too.

They were really "working" at "Working"

by runningbarb on 6/3/11Broadway Playhouse at Water Tower Place - Chicago

Technical difficulties (loss of sound system) did not stop this group of actors and directors. The show went on, voices were lifted to make up for the "glitch," and it was pretty awesome. When it was over and the audience gave a standing ovation, the actors were in near-tears. Made the evening very special. Would recommend this show to anyone, although under 12 might be bored.

    Working works!

by Sue405P on 6/2/11Broadway Playhouse at Water Tower Place - Chicago

The sound system failed. Those of us with old ears moved to the front row. I can testify that the cast projected - I've been in other theaters where the cast did not do as good a job projecting. The show was moving, funny, and poignent. It gave me new respect for ALL work!

    Working still works

by Madison3 on 6/2/11Broadway Playhouse at Water Tower Place - Chicago

The updated version of Working that we saw was terrific. I was afraid that it might be dated - but it still works as an overview of the insights of regular people and their jobs. The cast was terrific, so very talented, each and every one of them. My teenagers loved it, too. A thumbs up from me 51 yrs old & my 15 year old & 19 year old.

    Highly Recommend Working!

by SusieCQ on 5/31/11Broadway Playhouse at Water Tower Place - Chicago

I can't believe this play is closing early. It is fantastic and should be sold out every show for the next 3 years. The concept was a tough sell for me, but so many personal friends recommended it, I had to give it a try. It will make you laugh and cry at the same time and the acting/singing is amazing. It is very entertaining, but at the same time really makes you think. I hope it comes back soon so those of you that haven't seen it get a chance!

    working worth it

by Anonymous on 5/30/11Broadway Playhouse at Water Tower Place - Chicago

Really great & novel adaption of a book that's been around a long time. Clever to make it a musical. More humorous than I remember the book being.

The show was good and "real life"-like, however, we felt the cussing was excessive (especially the use of the "f" word - seemed almost forced and on purpose). We were also surprised at some of the "costumes" on larger characters.

    Solid Performances - Great Show!

by voce on 5/30/11Broadway Playhouse at Water Tower Place - Chicago

This show was very solid. Some tightness of musical direction has been lost, but I can imagine what the MD originally set. I really enjoyed the concept of the show and the behind the scenes scene changes, but I wish it would have played more towards the end of the show. Overall, a very enjoyable show.

Fun revisions to the work from the original. Good work from the actors, especially the maid/hooker/etc.
