About

The hottest show in New York last season was the break-out comedy, Bad Jews. It is one of the most-produced new plays in America – and we're excited to bring you the Philadelphia premiere! Meet Daphna Feygenbaum, a "Real Jew" with an Israeli boyfriend that she met on Birthright. When Daphna's cousin Liam brings home his shiksa girlfriend Melody, he declares ownership of their grandfather's Chai necklace. A vicious and hilarious brawl over family, faith and legacy ensues. Bad Jews – it's about what you choose to believe when you're chosen.

    Bad Jews- Very entertaining

by kewinpa on 12/30/14Walnut Street Theatre - Philadelphia

My wife and I went with our 3 adult age children (20-26). We thoroughly enjoyed the play experience. The telltale sign for us is that we talked about it on and off for the next 24 hours. Some good points, some less positive but it provided 90 minutes of entertainment and hours and hours of conversation afterwards

I thought Bad Jews was a great perfomance played by skilled and talented actors. Me and my boyfriend took his mom for a Christmas gift and we all thought it was hilarious.

    Don't waste your time

by Novum on 12/29/14Walnut Street Theatre - Philadelphia

The show had a few moments that were truly enjoyable but, for the most part, it was a rambling, heavy-handed series of characters monologuing at each other with no real development. I would say that the script was a decent first draft, but I don't know how it actually got produced in its current form.

Great play which reflects timelessness of every generations questions about heritage, evolution, history and future

    Bad Jews

Definitely challenges the mind! Provocative, to say the least!!! Acting was good. Not a bad seat in the house. A 4 star show.

Great Show in an Intimate Setting

by AmyRebecca on 12/19/14Walnut Street Theatre - Philadelphia

I loved this show. Each actor put on a detailed performance. It wasn't until my drive home that certain things affected me because it took some processing. When I saw the show, I had recently experienced the loss of a grandparent so I did feel connected to the message of the show. Family, tradition, religion and love are all very present as themes but presented in, sometimes, conflicting ways. If you like drama mixed with comedy in an intimate setting in which detailed performances are key, go see it!

Outstanding performance of a brilliant play

by eugeneby on 12/16/14Walnut Street Theatre - Philadelphia

The acting was impeccable, the screenplay was funny and thought-provoking, and you basically got to sit on stage, so the actors were a couple feet away from you.
