About

Twisted Sister's 37-year legacy with global sales of 12 million records, 33 Gold and Platinum Awards and more than 9,000 performances is nothing short of amazing. Twisted co-lead guitarist JAY JAY FRENCH formed the band in New York City in December,1972. High school buddy EDDIE OJEDA (co-lead guitar) came onboard in 1975.  With the addition of front man DEE SNIDER in 1976, the band embraced the theatricality of the shock rock movement combined with their signature hard-rock sound that continues to embrace new fans and remain loyal to their followers. Ex-Dictator, bassist MARK 'The Animal' MENDOZA joined in 1978 and Twisted Sister was steadily making a name for itself on the grueling club circuit while including more and more Snider-penned original material in the sets. The final addition of drummer A.J. PERO completed the line-up responsible for every Twisted Sister classic including, "We're Not Gonna Take It" and "I Wanna Rock." The band is currently celebrating the 25th Anniversary of their legendary mutli-platinum selling album, Stay Hungry with a special edition package of that album on CD and vinyl. A Twisted Christmas CD was released in 2006. The overwhelming success of that release and its steady, annual holiday sales were the inspiration behind what has become an annual theatrical spectacular, TWISTED CHRISTMAS ON BROADWAY. With set and stage designs created with the help of Kevin O'Callaghan, Chair of 3D Design at New York's legendary School of Visual Arts, A TWISTED CHRISTMAS ON BROADWAY is a mind-boggling, theatrical spectacle designed to kick off the holiday season with a memorable assault of lights, sound and staging.

    Very Good Show

by Twistedny on 12/8/09Nokia Theatre Times Square - New York

Twisted Sister put on a very good show Sunday night. I'm glad I was there for it. They did a good job of mixing in their hits, along with their versions of popular Christmas songs. It was cool to hear the X-Mas songs done in hard rock. They even played one new song. The show wasn't too long; if anything, it was just right. We also stayed for the Meet & Greet afterwards. The only complaint that I have is with the venue. The Nokia Theater in NY was clueless as to when the Meet & Greet would be, if there'd be any opening bands, and what time to get there roughly. I had asked them several times, and they kept telling me to call on the day of the show. I called 5-10 times on Sunday, yet no-one bothered to pick up the phone. This was a huge turn-off, as we needed to be able to plan our evening better, especially with work the next day. Overall, I highly recommend the show, and the Nokia Theater is very nice once you get it.

First Time At A Twisted Sister Concert

by ARepko on 12/8/09Nokia Theatre Times Square - New York

Ok, I was a little hesitant going to see this show only because I never got into their music. However, they did put on a great show and we had a lot of fun. We didn't see half the stage because of where we were standing. The theatre is set up general admission it's first come first seved as far as a good standing location.

Great show but better last year!

by GinaT on 12/8/09Nokia Theatre Times Square - New York

Show was great, missing Lita Ford & Mick Foley (from WWE) & Mini Kiss. They definitely made last year's show better but the band was just as good. This time there were leather bikini clad girls pulling Dee's sled, instead of Mini Kiss and a member of Rock of Ages. The lead guitarist had back surgery 3 days before the show! The meet & greet was very disorganized but the guys signed autographs & took pictures with the fans (you had to take your own pics). Overall, I would recommend seeing this show as it is a lot of fun!

    over 3 hour wait

by byvllmom on 12/7/09Nokia Theatre Times Square - New York

Over all the concert was good. I would like to say it was great however, making us wait over three hours before the band hit the stage was not cool. The only entertainment during the three hour wait was two guys telling some really nasty jokes for about 10 minutes each and listen to "piped in " rock music . Why open doors at 6 and web site said concert to start at 7pm? Then with no explaination wait until 9 to start the concert. I think it is really rude of the band to think its fans are not worth an explaination. Once the band started to sing we had a great time. But The delay really damped the event.

    TWISTED SISTER ROCKS NOKIA THEATRE

by boomermur on 12/7/09Nokia Theatre Times Square - New York

the annual christmas show was supurb. played a lot of the christmas album(which is the reason for the show) some good old tunes(can't stop r & r, stay hungry, the beast, don't let me down) a new song called "30" which is a good live tune, and of corse, the hits. would have liked to see more(like come out and play and heros are hard to find) but all in all it's a great show. dee's voice still sounds GREAT, and the band was very tight. went with a few people seeing "twisted" for their first time and they loved it!!

Super as always - needed opening band

by rotatingmass on 12/7/09Nokia Theatre Times Square - New York

Let me just say that this event is one of the best. TS are true showmen! This is my second time seeing this show and I will go again next year. The music (Twisted Christmas and TS classics), the stage, the band and the crowd make this an event worth attending. Nice reindeer this year as well as the suprise guest. Call me old school but I'd like Lita back next year. Speaking of next year, please bring back an opening band. This year it did not flow well. The Metal Show guys were good but too short and they did not get the crowd wound up. As such, the Twisted Christmas show started slow and 3 hrs after the doors opened!. Of course, Dee and team won the crowd over but it took time. See you next year. Merry Christmas

Best way to kick off the holiday season

by HitzGirl on 12/7/09Nokia Theatre Times Square - New York

This show was fantastic. I loved every bit of the performances. Dee is a freaking legend and is an awesome frontman. The only drawback to the whole experience was how long we had to wait for the band to come on. The doors opened at 6 and with the exception of the hosts from That Metal Show doing a few minutes of comedy, it was a pain to wait around until the band went on around 9. Standing for 3 hours straight was a little tough. Overall though, it was well worth the pain and waiting.

    Not your typical Sister Act!

by Swick on 12/4/09Keswick Theatre - Glenside

Let me just start by saying that I am a hard core SMF Sister fan. Going in, I knew this was going to be their Christmas show, so I was not exactly sure what to expect... in fact, I was a little nervous that it might be a bit goofy. But, I was pleasantly surprised. The show is basically 1/2 old-school Sister and 1/2 Twisted Christmas songs. For the most part they alternate original songs with Christmas songs. While the Christmas songs tend to be a bit goofy, it was fun, particularly since we had a fun crowd that was eager to participate in the choruses on songs like Deck the Halls (i.e., singing Falalalalalalalala). One thing that held true was the fact that the boys ALWAYS rock hard and put 100% effort into the show. Unfortunately, the day of the show, Eddie had emergency back surgery and was forced to miss the show. Jay Jay called a buddy that mornign to fill in. While he did an admirable job (and absolutely amazing considering he never played the TS stuff before and NEVER heard any of the Christmas stuff before), the songs were not the same without Eddie's impecable solos. Overall, I give this a 4 because #1) the boys rock their butts off and Dee's voice is still as amazing as it was 30 years ago, #2) the stage was incredible and #3) Sister knows how to get the crown fired up and there is nothing like a couple thousand people screaming in unison to the choruses (i.e., When Dee says "I Wanna Rock", the whole crowd yells "Rock").... just awesome stuff!

Twisted Sister at the Keswick Theater

by Ojane on 12/3/09Keswick Theatre - Glenside

Dee Snider is still one of the most entertaining rock and roll frontmen out there and he proved it once again at the Keswick Theater show. The band had a handicap in that axeman Eddie Ojeda had emergency back surgery that morning and couldn't do the gig. The guy who filed in put in a noble effort. Mark Mendoza is one of the most underrated bass players in the business. He is a monster and showed his chops are better than ever. Twisted's Christmas album, though blatantly tongue-in-cheek, is actually a very listenable Christmas album in it's genre (for the most part.) The fact that the Come O Ye Faithful melody fits perfectly over We're Not Going to Take It is a genius stroke (or a lucky one) but either way, it's a heck of a lot of fun watching and listening to the guys belt it out. Dee told the audience that after December 31st, the band will no longer wear the trademark makeup and '80s clothes. That announcement got mixed responses but as he said, it's about the music anyway. Looking forward to whatever the band has to offer in 2010!

    Excellent start for the Holidays!

by holidazed on 12/3/09Keswick Theatre - Glenside

Great time! Dee and the boys brought the Ho Ho Ho in a big way! The crowd was definitely into it, and we never sat down once they hit the stage! I can undestand some skeptics, but it was great fun and I'm glad we got a chance to see them.

    Twisted Xmas

by gohorse on 12/3/09Keswick Theatre - Glenside

Awesome! Was extremely saddened to find out Eddie Ojeda was in the hospital, and really wanted to see him, but Dan filled in Outstanding! And although my kids hear alot from me, and I would not have minded Dee's typical awesomely over used F'bombs, it was pleasantly surprising to hear them all keep it PG. Hope they do it again next year!!

    M3 Music Festival

by guywithbluehair on 9/20/09Merriweather Post Pavilion - Columbia

An awesome lineup however acts were so rushed, you couldn't see half of them. No festival T-Shirt was a bummer. The ability to go down to the inner circle was a plus.

The Ultimate Rock Festival - M3!

by dilansmom on 7/30/09Merriweather Post Pavilion - Columbia

My 16 year old son and I saw 15 of the 16 bands that played at the festival! All of the acts ROCKED! The only negative was that we had to leave an act early in order to get to one playing on the other stage as the times overlapped. We wanted to see all the bands so we had to cut them all a little short. The festival would have been better if the times did not overlap. I had a great time and am looking forward to another festival next year. It was awesome to see all the 80s bands and have the opportunity to meet some of them. It was a great opportunity to see a lot of bands that do not tour the east coast like XYZ, Jetboy and Keel.

KIX , Ratt, and Extreme, rocked it the best.

by RMGM on 7/29/09Merriweather Post Pavilion - Columbia

The Merriweather post pavillion was perfect for this event, parking was free and close to venue, drinks and food regular priced like all concerts. When we arrived they did not have acts and stages psoted anywhere. I heard they handed out paper schedules and ran out. So, we did not know who was playing where and at what time, unitl we found someone with a list and we took a picture of it. Most of the bands had merchandise booths, which was pretty cool. I wish Merriweather would have had a T shirt with M3 facts as well as the list of all the bands. That would have been really nice, I bet they would have sold out. All the bands really rocked hard.. It was my first time to see Twisted Sister-I loved it-Dee's energy on stage was awesome, the crowd was truly going wild when they came out. However, my opinion is Kix, Ratt ,and Extreme rocked the best. They sounded like they did 20 years ago. I almost cried, it was truly one of the most memorable concerts ever! The only thing that stopped me from rating it a 5, the two stages set up-which I knew-What I didn't know is that I would have to chose one band over another, because one band would be at the end of their set and the other would start about 10-20 mins early. Soooo, we paid to see all the bands and we didn't get to. I missed several acts I came to see.
