About

Twisted Sister's 37-year legacy with global sales of 12 million records, 33 Gold and Platinum Awards and more than 9,000 performances is nothing short of amazing. Twisted co-lead guitarist JAY JAY FRENCH formed the band in New York City in December,1972. High school buddy EDDIE OJEDA (co-lead guitar) came onboard in 1975.  With the addition of front man DEE SNIDER in 1976, the band embraced the theatricality of the shock rock movement combined with their signature hard-rock sound that continues to embrace new fans and remain loyal to their followers. Ex-Dictator, bassist MARK 'The Animal' MENDOZA joined in 1978 and Twisted Sister was steadily making a name for itself on the grueling club circuit while including more and more Snider-penned original material in the sets. The final addition of drummer A.J. PERO completed the line-up responsible for every Twisted Sister classic including, "We're Not Gonna Take It" and "I Wanna Rock." The band is currently celebrating the 25th Anniversary of their legendary mutli-platinum selling album, Stay Hungry with a special edition package of that album on CD and vinyl. A Twisted Christmas CD was released in 2006. The overwhelming success of that release and its steady, annual holiday sales were the inspiration behind what has become an annual theatrical spectacular, TWISTED CHRISTMAS ON BROADWAY. With set and stage designs created with the help of Kevin O'Callaghan, Chair of 3D Design at New York's legendary School of Visual Arts, A TWISTED CHRISTMAS ON BROADWAY is a mind-boggling, theatrical spectacle designed to kick off the holiday season with a memorable assault of lights, sound and staging.

    The Best Show Ever!!!

by vaddy11 on 5/3/11Best Buy Theater - New York

First of all the Venue: It was like being in a small, but elegant, club. The staff, amazing!! I'm disabled and then did everything possible to make my experience as awesome as it could be. I sat on the left side of the stage, close enough to see Dee Snider's sweat coming down his face. The band is still as amazing as they were back in the 80's. They played a long and varied set including a few surprises. Having been to over 100 concerts in my life this was the very best by far. The event was held to support The Pinkburst Project and it was great to find out that every cent spent on the tickets and merchandise were going to the project. And it was great for the band to acknowledge all the people that gave their time in support. The opening act Antigone Rising was unknown to me before the show and I was expecting them to be OK or worse as many opening bands are. I could not have been more incorrect. They're an all female band that leans towards country music(which I cannot stand) but they were incredible. Their last song was a cover of Pat Benetar's Heartbreaker which they knocked outta the park.

Good show. Sound was poor quality for the first few songs but improved as the night wore on. Too bad there wasn't more TS merch available. Event was a fund-raiser.

Once a SMF always a SMF.

by Spaulds on 5/2/11Best Buy Theater - New York

Antigone Rising the band that opened the show were mismatched for the audience and poorly received. They may rock a Lilith Fair audience but opening for Twisted Sister they were out of place and uncomfortable. Furthermore, they were nothing more than a garage band that you might see at any club on a Monday night. There original lacked originality although their cover of Heartbreaker at the end was decent. Tiwsted Sister more than made up this though and this was their crowd. Although I can't remember the exact setlist, this was a show for the fans by a band who knows how to deliver their best. Dee proves he is still an amazing showman as the rest of the guys stay in their comfort zone and in the pocket. This being a benefit made the evening even more special and worth while. There was no pyro, no special effect; just pure in your face rock. Something that has been Twisted's brand from the beginning. Although, Twisted Sister popularity here in the states has decreased it is easy to see why they are still headliners the world over and capable of drawing massive crowds. The capacity crowd at the Best Buy theatre definitely know this and appreciate it.

    Twisted still rockin

by JL13 on 5/2/11Best Buy Theater - New York

Despite playing for 35 years, Twisted Sister still is one of the best live bands out there. They steamrolled through nearly 20 songs for just under 2 hours. It's a lesson some of the new metal bands could learn from, when they play their 1 hour sets. Dee Snider is still one of the best front men ever. Only complaint was they didn't play Under the Blade or Destroyer. They need to come back to New York a little more often, and not for the Christmas shows.

    Mighty TS!

by antti23 on 5/2/11Best Buy Theater - New York

Went to see TS in NY show allthe way from Finland and got a lifelong memory! The band showed it's best, starting with an introduction by the stand-up comedian, who was funny and pointed out the thing I could easily sign; Dee is the greatest frontman of all times! Guys seemed to enjoy playing in their "homecourt". Especially it felt nice and touching when JJ, introducing The Fire Still Burns, pointed out that they Still Wanna Rock! And Dee showing the same thing in the back by pounding his fist into his chest. AJ did a drumsolo I've never heard before and The Animal is truly by his nickname; he's a real madman with his bass! How can he make it sound so good by pounding the bass with his fist and microphone stands? Fingers got a new guitar and I think it's no use to mention, because it's so obvious that JJ's guitars with TS-boner-logo's looked great! I enjoyed the event with the bottom of my heart and although I've seen the band a few times playing in Finland, this show meant a lot to me. Now TWISTED SISTER played with their own ground, in front of their own friends and families, not so far away from home. That must be a special event for the band too! The whole event (The Pinkburst Project) with the charity and benefits to uveitis research was organized fine and I wanna give thanks to everyone that made this event possible! JJ's daughter was enjoying every moment of the show (in the side of the stage). It was a once in a lifetime moment for me to be part of this SMF- community, in their own playground so HAIL TWISTED SISTER and thousands of thanks! In my heart, THE FIRE STILL BURNS! See You TS in Europe this summer!

    Twisted Sister Rocks...those SM*s!

by nycmusicluver on 5/1/11Best Buy Theater - New York

If you're a big fan of Twisted Sister forget my recommendation & definitely go see them. I knew what to expect...I just wanted to go back to the 1980s for a few hours & from that perspective the evening was a huge success. Always wanted to see TS & now I have! Dee Snider is one of the top frontmen (his stage banter is similar to Billy Joe Armstrong of Green Day) of all time. The band (Jay Jay French, Eddie Ojeda, Mark (the Animal) Mendoza & AJ Pero) are all top of the line musicians. TW definitely reminds me of KISS & their wall of sounds. I was sitting in the "church" section but was up & out of my seat during I Wanna Rock. Good to see a band that can remain intact over 30 years.

Twisted Sister was AMAZING as usual. Great set of their hits...along w/old school favorites such as Shoot 'em down and Tear It Loose. A highlight of the night was ex-Yankee Bernie Williams joining them onstage to play guitar on We're Not Gonna Take It!!! GREAT NIGHT!!!!!!

    Twisted was great!

by windsor5 on 12/9/09Nokia Theatre Times Square - New York

Enjoyed the show as ALWAYS, and Nokia staff are terrific...my only complaint was waiting 3 hours for the show to start.!!..)...Won't come on time next time...(waiting an hour may be ok...but 3 hours...well the crowd was ready to riot) Love the Trunk show but was there to see Twisted...The funnymen for another 1/2 hour plus...got us too restless...Loveed Twisted!!!.....For shame what the FDNY did...(too drunk and throwing the beer can at the audience was a big mistake)..and that's coming from a family of fireman...LOVED TWISTED....

TWISTED SISTER PRESENTS: A TWISTED CHRISTMAS ON BR

by Shrederdude on 12/9/09Nokia Theatre Times Square - New York

The show was absolutely amazing, Twisted never disappoint, always pull out all the stops. The band sounded as tight as ever, and really look as if the are enjoying performning these show for their hiehard fans. Were do you start, the band entering the stage one by one out a capsule, Dee being brought on the stage by the cutest reindeer, to Constintine sing a duet with Dee, a half naked Santa to finally thanking our Servicemen, Policemen and Firefighters. Pack filled and a must see next time they are in your town!!!! As for the Meet & Greet, it was a bit disorganized and even Dee himself showed his displeasure for the arrangement. Besides that, each and every member was truly there to meet the fans and provide the opportunity for a autograph and a photo op to each and every attendie. Real class act individuals. Thanks for the great time Twisted! You and your families have a great holiday season, as you started mine off on the right foot.
