Enjoyed the symphony and the conductor but the problems with video made the movie hard to watch
The orchestra was fantastic as was the conductor. The film was fun, except the technical difficulties that stopped the show mid stream for at least 20 minutes. This combined with the intermission made for a long evening. It was also very disappointing for the flow of the show to be suddenly interrupted. This is inexcusable!
After a few initial technical glitches, we settled back for an enjoyable experience. Perhaps the best tribute that I can give is that after awhile you forgot the TSO was there- their performance meshed with the movie so perfectly!
We’ve been to a couple movie and symphony and several contemporary music shows and have always enjoyed. Unfortunately there was a technical problem with the soundtrack. It took awhile before the stopped the movie to fix it and then it took some time to resolve. Not much info was given during this other than one announcement and the conductor trying to keep the audience entertained with conversation. The orchestra was wonderful but it caused show to run longer. Then there was still an intermission when movie Tim’s less than 2hrs. A little disappointed this time around.
This was so much fun! Great experience!!!!! We will definitely be back for Indiana Jones
What a wonderful time at the symphony . Viewing a classic movie while the orchestra played the soundtrack. The crowd, including many young children stayed through the credits at the end while the orchestra completed their performance. I'm going back in September for their Raiders of the Lost Ark production. Very excited! Can't wait!
The attention to detail in performing this score not upheld the standards of the TSO but also the standards of John Williams. This performance was executed so well there were times I forgot the score was being played live even though I have watched the film well over 100 times. I had chills and at times tears. Words barely express how amazing this was. For a true fan of all things Star Wars I am so grateful our very own TSO chose to perform this. I would see it again and again and again.
Watching "Return of the Jedi" with the Tucson Symphony Orchestra presenting John Williams' terrific score was a fantastic experience. We loved it! One slight downer was that when I went to sit down during the Intermission, my seat collapsed! I had to be reseated, but it did not dampen my enthusiasm for the program.
This was a great experience. The orchestra is amazing and made it so much more fun to watch the movie. I love that people dressed up in costumes too.
This event was something my daughter wanted to see. She was really excited to hear the beginning and ending. The timing of the music they played was spot on. It enhanced the experience of watching the movie 10 fold. Not the biggest fan of Star Wars but, I believe it helped me understand the timeline a bit more. A + event.
A little background: I love Star Wars. So to hear the music played live by the orchestra was amazing, nostalgic and inspiring. It was also so much fun to see those younger than me enjoying the movie and the music.
A splendid experience for Mother’s Day. The magnificent of film with the majesty of music. Wonderful!
Just amazing TSO! Saw Empire Strikes Back and was blown away. Return of the Jedi did not disappoint. I highly recommend and look forward to more live score movie events from our wonderful symphony. Thank you for bringing this to our community <3
As always, the Tucson Symphony did not disappoint! The awesome music was masterfully performed by our own, wonderful symphony. It was masterfully conducted to score a great movie. The sound quality of the film was great and the orchestra did not overwhelm it. What an amazing way to experience a fantastic movie!
Was a great choice to attand for a date night. Had to chance to listen to all my favorite movie scores and spend time with my special someone
I'm a violinist, so I may have enjoyed this more than others, but it was still an incredible performance anyone would be impressed by. Live music is always vibrant, and it was amazing that I got the chance to see Hilary Hahn in person, too! The Peer Gynt Suite, and more specifically the first movement, which was so gentle and relaxing, and it wasn't putting you to sleep, you just had to keep getting big deep breaths because your heart couldn't hold all that beauty of the sound. Swan Lake is a classic, but it was so nice to hear the less-played movements, because all of them are beautiful! Of course, Tchaikovsky's Concerto in D Major was the most impressive, especially with how much effort you can tell Hilary Hahn has put into her practice and career, especially in her encore. All in all, it was a lovely night of beautiful music, and I would love to go to more!
A great show! I went to see Hillary Hahn and was amazed at the quality of the Tucson Symphony Orchestra! I had no idea that they are a first rate orchestra. Amazing musicians all and I love the fact the Concert Master/First Violin is sublime. I will go again just for the TSO.
Hilary Hahn played beautifully and the orchestra was right with her. Also the concert master played the solo in the Swan Lake suite. The Whole evening was delightful
Incredible orchestra. Wonderful performance at a nice venue!
Wonderful from start to finish! Linda Rhonstat Auditorium is very nice. Loved the finish of Carmen with the encore of Malaguena!
