The Tucson Symphony’s tribute of Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue was spectacular in every aspect!
The TSO, conductor and guest performances were wonderful! What a great way to spend the afternoon.
The Tucson Symphony Orchestra performance of Rhapsody in Blue was stunning. Beautifully presented, it brought the audience to a standing ovation. I always appreciate Tucson’s response to these musical events, and I especially thank the Symphony for giving us this gift.
Easy parking...beautiful venue.....reasonable price for a very good seat...lower balcony. The Gershuin Concert itself was sublime and I am so happy to have the Tuscon Symphony available to me ! Thank you !
It was an amazing performance.Even sitting in upper balcony I could enjoy the performance.Next time better seats though.
We very much enjoyed our first experience with Tucson's Symphony! We've attended concerts in a number of cities across the country, and Tucson should be very proud of the collection of talent they have here. The support was indeed most apparent from the audience's response.
Tucson Symphony Orchestra.. Gershwin’s many memorable songs but Rhapsody in Blue was the highlight. Absolutely stunning performance! To listen and watch Stewart Goodyear on piano was a thrill! His hands pounded and flew over the keys!! Wish I could have recorded this whole piece. What an incredible afternoon!
The Symphony Orchestra performed flawlessly to the Gershwin tunes. The musical score was superb, and the horn in trombone sections, especially good job. The two guest performers sang beautifully and played the piano with flair and excitement.
Attended the performance of Gershwin music. The song selections and arrangements were very well done. The highlight was the performance of the pianist for Rhapsody in Blue. Fantastic show!
Saw them perform Rachmaninov's 2nd violin Concerto. Phenomenal
Excellent job by the orchestra! Singer was wonderful and the pianist was amazing!!
We went to see Tucson Symphony Orchestra’s tribute to George Gershwin led by José Luis Gomez. The concert featured An American In Paris, several of his songs and show tunes and of course, Rhapsody in Blue. The orchestra was accompanied for a few selections by Tucson’s own vocalist, Crystal Stark. She has an incredible voice and an endearing stage personality. Stewart Goodyear, a world renowned concert pianist and composer, played one song with Ms. Stark and of course rocked the house with his amazing skills playing Rhapsody in Blue. We lost count after 4 encores and when he returned for one final time, he played one of his own creations. What a thrill to have witnessed such talent! The orchestra was flawless and it was clear to see that they are thriving under the direction of their conductor. Bravo!
The TSO did a fine job presenting Gershwin, however the arrangements were way too long. Just about every one could have came to a logical conclusion much earlier, instead they were like the energizer bunny and kept going and going and going. In addition, the encore by the pianist was not in line with the theme of the rest of the production. Had I been able to get up and leave, I would have.
Simply the most enjoyable concert that I've seen this season, my first with TSO. We really appreciated the pieces selected and the execution was fantastic!
I'm fairly new to the symphony and like the closeness to my home when the orchestra is performing at the Catalina Foothills H.S. I enjoyed the performance and, especially, the guest trumpet soloist. Conductor Gomez is wonderful; a joy to watch!
The music, conducting, guest soloist were amazing. Even more amazing was the orchestra. Technically skilled and emotional feeling to the music. So skilled and professional. Thank you for coming to Green Valley! And. It should have been advertised better locally. Many people that aren’t on the email list didn’t know about it.
I was most looking forward to Bolero and was so completely amazed by the U/A School of Dance choreography and the costuming was wonderful. I wanted to stand in the middle of the performance and applaud but I waited until the end and joined in the entire audience's standing ovation. BRAVO! I was so enthralled by the dance I didn't focus enough on the music like I had want to. The entire concert was wonderful but Bolero was WELL worth the wait until the end.
Our seats were awesome! Volunteers and staff were so informative and sweet! I loved the community feel of the whole performance!
I wasn't certain what to expect. I enjoyed the orchestra performance and the U of A Dancers were amazing also.
The pairing of the TSO with the UA dancers was literally breathtaking. The TSO should pair with the UA School of Dance at least once a season.
