    Amazing!!

by SunflowerJampa on 4/30/13The Apollo Theatre - Harlem USA

I was familiar with the works of almost everyone on stage and seeing them at the same venue in basically the same performance was outstanding! The energy that vibrated in the theatre was phenomnenal. Every artist commanded their space as well as respectfully shared the vibe. Seeing Rakim out of a hip hop element was a special treat. Hands down he is my favorite rapper. This proves to me even more that his lyrics and talent are transcendental. Vernon Reid, occupied upstage in a quiet manner yet garnered the same strong adulation.

    Craig is a genius!!

by Jazzestates on 4/30/13Apollo Theater - New York

This performance brought on exceptional talent from different generations different genres and different backgrounds. Yet it was all an homage to poet Sekou Sundiata. It honored Sekou and at the same time let each artist really express themselves. The audience was diverse, and I think we were all introduced to new concepts. Hip hop, jazz, opera, poetry, African dance... There was so much going on! And all with a very positive spirit. Congratulations, Craig Harris, for bringing down the house at the Apollo!!

    Something Different

by Yolee580 on 4/29/13Apollo Theater - New York

Really enjoyed this show! It was truly somehing different. This is a good idea for poetry readings/ spoken word performaces going forward. Music and poetry together make a good mix. I got to see Rakim in a different environment. Only ciritism I have is there should have been fewer songs and more poetry and spoken word.

    The absolute best performance ever!!

by Traveller450 on 4/29/13Apollo Theater - New York

I went to this event simply exhausted after a busy day. I went because I had purchased ticket in advance. I expected to be entertained but 15 minutes into the performance I knew it was going to be spectacular. Craig Harris' tribute to Sekou Sundiata was not to be believed. The jazz, the spoken word, the beautiful voices, the rap..with contributions from Bobbi Humphrey and Regina Carter, made it an incredible night of entertainment. It was so much more than expected. I am only sorry it was a single performance and I cannot buy tickets to see this performance all over again.
