    Not what I expected

by Kenla on 5/21/23Mahalia Jackson Theater for the Performing Arts - New Orleans

It was extremely unfortunate. I had a bad feeling about this performance after I paid full price for my tickets only to discover the following week that the tickets were "buy one, get one free. I accidentally chose e tickets. Big mistake. Couldn't get my phone to download immediately and everything took longer than it should have. The performance it was truly underwhelming. I had hoped to hear the talented musicians of LPO interpret the music of Queen. Instead, everything was drowned out by the rock band, which turned into a audience participation event.

    Great time

by Coco on 5/15/23Mahalia Jackson Theater for the Performing Arts - New Orleans

I went to the show with my two kids as a little pre Mother’s Day celebration. We had a blast! There is only one Freddy Mercury, but they did a fantastic job. They kept the crowd engaged and included. By the end of the night we were dancing and singing out loud. It was a great time. The orchestra was phenomenal as usual. The conductor was a blast. Overall I’d give a 10!

    Band drowned orchestra

by Freddy Fan on 5/15/23Mahalia Jackson Theater for the Performing Arts - New Orleans

Orchestra was the backdrop to a rock band with cruise ship charisma. My expectation was an integrated orchestra-forward experience so this was a disappointment.

    Not what I was expecting

by JPH on 5/15/23Mahalia Jackson Theater for the Performing Arts - New Orleans

Venue was comfortable. Performance was entertaining, but was not what I expected! Honestly, I was expecting to hear more of the Philharmonic Orchestra and was not expecting the rock band accompaniment to drown out the orchestra. It felt like more of a Las Vegas show.! The rock musicians and vocalist were talented, but, personally, I was expecting to hear more of the orchestra.

    Nice sound and venue

by Randy on 5/15/23Mahalia Jackson Theater for the Performing Arts - New Orleans

I assumed this would at least be Queen’s greatest theatrical hits. Was not . Songs by anyone besides Freddie Mercury was a let down. Seemed to be a band trying to do all the B side stuff. LPO was terrific though!
