    Queen & The LPO

by mace on 5/15/23Mahalia Jackson Theater for the Performing Arts - New Orleans

This was a musical performance extradinaire!! The LPO was AWESOME(as they always are) and the rock band fronting the symphony was really good!! The frontman singing it all,Mig Ayreas, was incredible as wel. his personality was infectious and he was spot on with his banter about N'awlins!!(he actually pronounced it correctly and made us aware of that fact too!). The performance went by TOO fast! The creator and conductor,Mr.Brett Havens is a genius and we are very grateful of his bringing his talented concert to N.O> Hoping they will come back again and perform real soon. AND....if they do...GO SEE THIS!!

Amazing show for Queen fans, imperfect venue

by FlashAhAhh on 5/15/23Mahalia Jackson Theater for the Performing Arts - New Orleans

MiG Ayesa's band and the local orchestra put on an amazing show, featuring well-known favorites like "Bohemian Rhapsody", "The Show Must Go On", and "We Will Rock You/We Are the Champions", as well as some of the deeper cuts that don't get as much radio play. Some of the songs performed definitely lean towards the band being much more prominent than the orchestra, but in particular the song "Who Wants to Live Forever" is an absolute highlight of the orchestra's talent and is hands-down one of the best pieces of the entire show. The only reason I'm docking a star is because the venue itself could stand to be more active in its security. Numerous times throughout the show, this one lady kept leaving her seat to dance on the floor (nearly falling on other guests at one point), and none of the ushers approached her to return to her seat. It didn't ruin the show, but it was a distraction and unfair to everyone else in the area. Overall, though, my family and I enjoyed the show immensely (despite the previously-mentioned distraction) and I'd love to be able to catch another performance from these guys again sometime.

    queen tribute

by gianca on 5/15/23Mahalia Jackson Theater for the Performing Arts - New Orleans

lead singer acted like a rock star when they should have been a tribute band supported by the excellent LPO.they played deep tracks as opposed to Queens many hits and show was spoiled by si gers antics.did not need a drum solo or piano solo either.

    Not what I expected

by Linda on 1/30/23BJCC Concert Hall - Birmingham

The Alabama Symphony was superb!!! I don't know what I expected out of this but it was way more rock concert than symphony and I was hoping for the reverse. The singer was fine but he was corny. He talked too much and tried to get the audience involved. I give it 4 stars because I don't want to penalize the Symphony.

    A Fantastic Tribute

by Macy on 1/26/23BJCC Concert Hall - Birmingham

As a younger person who loves Queen and sometimes feels bad I didn’t get to see them live, this show was a significant experience for me. I will cherish it forever (and it was on my birthday too!). The lead singer, the orchestra, the band are all amazingly talented. Great stage presence and energy AND a great mix of popular songs, solo songs, and lesser known deeper cuts!

    Fun Show!

by Lori on 1/24/23BJCC Concert Hall - Birmingham

First of all I love the orchestra! The lead singer was very good but seemed to have blown out his voice a little on some of the songs. He was very good at getting the crowd to clap and sing with him. I thought he was a lot of fun. Queen has a lot of hits but they played a few that were not that familiar. I think they could have played mostly hits and would have loved more orchestra!! Overall I would definitely go see the show again! Please add Radio GA GA! The arrangement of "Who wants to live Forever" made me cry it was so good!!

    Almost great

by CJ on 1/24/23BJCC Concert Hall - Birmingham

I vocalist was great. The song choices were passable. Queen had so many greats. I wish that the symphony had played a larger role and the band a little less prominent. I didn't really care much for the guitar solo and all of the silly introductions.

    Great show

by Carol on 1/24/23BJCC Concert Hall - Birmingham

Better than expected! It was a great performance by both the band and ASO. My 13yo daughter loves the music of Queen so I got tickets to surprise her. She absolutely loved it and said it was the best surprise. Very interactive with the audience, a fun night for everyone. I’m not sure who enjoyed it more- the band, the audience or the conductor of the ASO. I highly recommend going to any of their shows.
