Comedy Sportz has transcended its humble Milwaukee origins to become an international improv institution. Originally formed in 1984 by Dick Chudnow, Bob Orvis, and Brian Green, among others, the show’s all-ages style and sports-inspired format was an instant success and created ripples that are still being felt in the world of improv comedy. The company soon expanded to cities like Chicago—often referred to as the improv capitol of the world—where today they keep audiences laughing with a busy schedule of shows every week. The group has also featured and trained top-tier talent including Jason Sudeikis, Wayne Brady, Jessica Williams, Nick Swardson, and Dan Harmon. In mid-2014, Comedy Sportz Chicago broke with their family-friendly traditions by putting on the afterhours improv set The Blue Show. The witty and talented comedians offer an edgy counterpart to the theater’s regular shows, becoming a Friday night staple for Chicago-area comedy fans in the process.
