This was my first ballet; and I enjoyed it very much! The classical music was a perfect combination with the stage and costume choices. The color schemes were perfect, and gave an inviting feel to each and every performance. The dancers were spectacular with a few that really made an impression with their talents. I do intend to see more ballet in the future.
Dancing and costumes were exquisite. The performance was unique dancing all three ballets in the manner they did. We enjoyed it immensely.
The ballet was disappointing in every way. The dancers were awkward, looked amateurish, had no strength . They were not fluid in their movements, landed unsteadily and had breaks in movement when transitioning from one movement to another. The black swan was noticeably better but still subpar. With the exception of the tutu of the black swan, the costumes were cheap and unflattering. The choreography was uninspiring to put it mildly. We left at intermission as we found it too painful to watch this troup struggle. I have never seen a production of such poor quality. This should have been advertised as semi professional.
It was very good ballet. The artists were very professional. I wish that Papker Playhouse will embrace electronic or printed tickets: the lines to Will Call were huge, the event has been delayed because of it and many people got to their sits after show started.
My 87 year old mother heard the hype on radio that the Russian ballet was coming to Fort Lauderdale for one rare performance. She was familiar with the program and couldn't wait to go. The individual artists were good but not great. The music came out of 2 sets of ugly looking speakers perched on the corners of the stage. They detracted from the beauty of the costumes and performers. The crowd was interesting as well. Great to see well behaved children being exposed to the arts but the adults were another story. Some came dressed for the beach and many arrived late and were allowed to walk in after the show started creating a distraction. My mom said it wasn't what she was thought it would be and said the dinner we went to afterwards was much nicer...oh well !
I took my mom and daughter (9) to the ballet. It was a Christmas present to my mom. Had never seen this particular ballet, the Russian dancers were fantastic! Would go back to see them whenever they came back :)
The dancers were wonderful. The costumes were beautiful. It was a charming show in a charming venue. I would see it again.
The Ballet was embarrassingly bad and the the seats were worse... Only half bad cause we could only see half the stage from our orchestra seats .
I go to the ballet often. This performance was not very good. I expected greatness from a Russian troupe, what I saw was dull and quite mediocre. The Arts Ballet Theater of Florida is heads above the State Ballet of Russia.
The view, sound and spot were perfectly in the middle. Just watch your liquid intake!!! There's nothing more embarrassing than to have to ask to move during the performance.
