So You Think You Can Dance Live! on Tour

As the name implies, the ‘So You Think You Can Dance' Live! tour is an extension of the long-running Fox TV series. Each year, top contestants from the show's most recent season go on the road and perform in front of live audiences. At these gigs, ‘SYTYCD' fans can expect the usual mix of inventive, high-quality choreography and solo and group spotlights. The format of the tour allows dancers to stretch out physically and emotionally, and to show off their unique personalities, which makes the night a resonant one. For the 2018 tour, the Top 10 finalists from Season 15 — including winner Hannahlei Cabanilla, a contemporary dance enthusiast from Orange County, California, and season runner-up Jensen Arnold — are hitting the road to show off their best moves, under the choreographic guidance of the Emmy-winning Mandy Moore.

About So You Think You Can Dance Live! Tour

Just as ‘American Idol' and ‘The Voice' have helped aspiring musicians launch a career, the judged competition ‘So You Think You Can Dance' has done the same for dancers. Contestants from the show, which premiered in 2005, have gone on to become professional actors and actresses, choreographers, and backup dancers for pop stars. ‘SYTYCD' itself has also become known for its innovative dance routines to popular music, and is a perennial Primetime Emmy winner, particularly in the Outstanding Choreography category.

The show's sterling track record is a testament to the stunning pool of talent on display during each season. ‘SYTYCD' doubles as a spotlight showcase for promising dancers specializing in various styles (hip-hop, jazz, contemporary), who then show off their best moves via group, pair, and individual dance performances. Each week, judges whittle down the field of competitors, before crowning one person the winner. After the season ends, the ‘So You Think You Can Dance' Live! tour gives top contestants a chance to strut their stuff in real life, up close and personal in front of the show's many, many fans.

    Nonstop

by Shawn on 11/12/19Genesee Theatre - Waukegan

I brought my wife and daughters because they were fans of the show. We all ended up having a great time. The show was action packed and always entertaining. Highly recommended. If you liked the tv show you'll love the live show.

    Always Delivers!!!

    by L. L. on 11/12/19Genesee Theatre - Waukegan

What an amazing show... and even better in this theater. My daughter and I go to this every year and never leave disappointed! The energy, skill, beauty and freshness of the dancers and choreography leaves you breathless. It’s even better than watching the TV show (but part of that is because you HAVE watched the TV show). Not once have e we been let down, not have we ever yawned or looked at our watches or been ready to leave. It delivers!!!

    Great dancing but blinding lights

    by B. on 11/12/19Genesee Theatre - Waukegan

The dancing was amazing. But there were blinding lights during many of the dances so it was hard to look at the stage. Plus the music was way too loud.

Because I'm an old dancer, & my husband & I LOVE watching the TV Show, he bought me tickets for my 69th birthday. We both enjoyed it SOOOO MUCH!! :-) I was thrilled it was in The Taft Theater ... such a great old intimate showcase!! Everything about the production spectacular ... & like a true fan, I even bought a hoodie!!!

The dancing was Awesome but the Seating was Beyond AWFUL!!

by MommaMoon on 11/11/19Coca-Cola Roxy - Atlanta

The dancing was great! The seating was absolutely terrible. We each had a plastic folding chair that was ziptied to the neighboring seat so each person was totally squished. We pretty much sat in each other's laps. Paying about $65 each for this is not right. There were way too many rows of seats packed in to the floor area and the rows squished into each other. Several times my knees were banging on the seat in front of me. The seats were also not staggered so it was really hard to see with the person's head right in front of me. When other spectators had to get by in the row, it was really uncomfortable with their bottom right in your face. There wasn't enough room to stand up to let them by. Lastly the front of the stage had a small barrier that was about 8 inches high so when the dancers were performing on the ground of the stage it was just about impossible to see them. I have seen the tour for the last 6 years and this was the worst venue. I really hope it moves back to The Fox or Cobb Energy Center next year.

    SYTYCD review

by JH on 11/11/19Taft Theatre - Cincinnati

The show was just amazing. The transitions from one routine to the next were flawless, and we loved Cyrus as a host. The only complaint we have was about the lighting. There were several times that there were spotlight that were shining directly in our eyes and we could barely see the dances.

    Loved it!

    by R. e. on 11/11/19Taft Theatre - Cincinnati

Enjoyed the seating and the entire performance! I loved seeing the faces of all the dancers we watched all season long and I felt they gave their best performance. Immensely enjoyed it!

    Blinded by the light

by Jes C on 11/11/19Taft Theatre - Cincinnati

The dancers were fabulous! My daughter and I really enjoyed the show. They did a great job transitioning to the next dances too. My only complaint would be the lighting. The stage was too dim to see the dancers well and they had a lot of lightning that shot out to the audience. We had to squint the whole time. It was like someone had a flashlight in my face the whole time.

    Loved the Show!

    by C. J. on 11/11/19Salem Civic Center - Salem

Loved the Show!!! Really enjoyed it. Was disappointed in the Roanoke Valley. Lack of people attending. Felt bad for the performers and hate to see the community not supporting the arts coming to the Valley. Other than that, show was great and the Salem Civic Center was good. If they come back and I hope they do, could you use the performing arts center instead? Just a thought.

So You Think You Can Dance Live Tour

by luvmydollhouse on 11/11/19Coca-Cola Roxy - Atlanta

The show was awesome as always. The venue was abysmal. Only floor seating in folding chairs. The dancers were only visible at best from the shins up, so you couldn't see their feet or any floor work (which features in a lot of contemporary dance, hip hop and b-boy). I will not go again if it is held here, and I've been attending this event for 14 years.

    AMAZING SHOW!

by Donna on 11/11/19Taft Theatre - Cincinnati

The So You Think You Can Dance Tour was an unforgettable and amazing experience. It was so fun to see the top 10 dancers that we watched on the show. They all did an excellent job on all their routines — my favorites were Bailey and Mariah. We would definitely go see the show for next season and look forward to it!

    Great Show, Terrible Venue

by KC on 11/9/19Coca-Cola Roxy - Atlanta

I attend the show every year and it’s great as usual. However, the venue (Coca-Cola Roxy Theatre) is terrible. If you sit on the main floor it is difficult to see. It’s best to sit on the second level. The show should go back to Cobb Energy Center, where visibility is so much better.!

Great Venue; Stage Was Not Setup for Dance

by DanceFan on 11/9/19Coca-Cola Roxy - Atlanta

Had great seats but the venue itself did not allow us to see the dancers feet or when they were doing dancing on the floor because the stage itself was surrounded by speakers. Wish I had bought tickets up in the balcony. Dancers were great !!!!
