So You Think You Can Dance Live! on Tour

As the name implies, the ‘So You Think You Can Dance' Live! tour is an extension of the long-running Fox TV series. Each year, top contestants from the show's most recent season go on the road and perform in front of live audiences. At these gigs, ‘SYTYCD' fans can expect the usual mix of inventive, high-quality choreography and solo and group spotlights. The format of the tour allows dancers to stretch out physically and emotionally, and to show off their unique personalities, which makes the night a resonant one. For the 2018 tour, the Top 10 finalists from Season 15 — including winner Hannahlei Cabanilla, a contemporary dance enthusiast from Orange County, California, and season runner-up Jensen Arnold — are hitting the road to show off their best moves, under the choreographic guidance of the Emmy-winning Mandy Moore.

About So You Think You Can Dance Live! Tour

Just as ‘American Idol' and ‘The Voice' have helped aspiring musicians launch a career, the judged competition ‘So You Think You Can Dance' has done the same for dancers. Contestants from the show, which premiered in 2005, have gone on to become professional actors and actresses, choreographers, and backup dancers for pop stars. ‘SYTYCD' itself has also become known for its innovative dance routines to popular music, and is a perennial Primetime Emmy winner, particularly in the Outstanding Choreography category.

The show's sterling track record is a testament to the stunning pool of talent on display during each season. ‘SYTYCD' doubles as a spotlight showcase for promising dancers specializing in various styles (hip-hop, jazz, contemporary), who then show off their best moves via group, pair, and individual dance performances. Each week, judges whittle down the field of competitors, before crowning one person the winner. After the season ends, the ‘So You Think You Can Dance' Live! tour gives top contestants a chance to strut their stuff in real life, up close and personal in front of the show's many, many fans.

    SYTYCD

    by J. I. on 11/9/19Coca-Cola Roxy - Atlanta

The dancers and show were amazing. The reason for the 4 stars instead of 5 is the venue , the Roxie at the Battery in Cobb County. Seating was very uncomfortable; but, worse....the dancers could not be seen when the were doing routines on the stage floor because of the barriers along the front of the stage. Not a good venue for dancing shows.

    Seating was a shambles

by Atlrosie on 11/9/19Coca-Cola Roxy - Atlanta

The show was great but the seating was a shambles. There was confusion with seating areas. I didn't realize when booking that our seats were wheel chair spaces/seats, nor did the people next to us on both sides. The seats were too close together which was very uncomfortable because I had a large frame person next to me. We couldn't see the stage without obstruction because the seats were all on one level; we had to dodge moving heads as well as cellphone cameras to get a glimpse of the dancers. There was also a row of lights or whatever on the front edge of the stage which obscured our vision of the dancers feet, eg. couldn't see Eddie the tap dancer's feet when he did his solo; also couldn't see their movements when they were flat on the floor of the stage. The music was also too loud. Coca-Cola Roxy is not a venue I will revisit for this type of show. It could maybe work for a comedian walking back & forth on the stage. Overall a very disappointing outing for the dollars spent!

First time at the CocaCola Roxy venue

by KingsPawn on 11/9/19Coca-Cola Roxy - Atlanta

The SYTYCD event was really good, however basically have two issues with this venue. First, all the floor seating is lower than the stage area so the across the front of the stage lighting blocks a lot of the on stage action. Second, the portable seating for the floor is too congested. These chairs were not meant for any people of size and it makes for cramped seating. Last years event was at the Cobb energy Center and the seating at that venue is designed for this type of event.

    Great Dancing, Terrible Venue

by SSM ATL on 11/9/19Coca-Cola Roxy - Atlanta

The performances by the Top 10 dancers on SYTYCD were terrific! All were given their own chance to shine, particularly the top 4. I loved the themes of the dances and how the evening was planned out. What I did not like was the venue of the Roxy Theater where most seating was on the floor way below the stage. No one sitting on the floor could see the dancers’ feet! It was the wrong venue for a dance performance. The chairs were plastic and temporary and the floor was not raised so you couldn’t see anything below the dancers’ knees. Last time the show was at the Cobb Performing Arts Center. This was a much better venue to view the dancing.

Great dancers, awful venue for a dance performance

    by J. S. on 11/9/19Coca-Cola Roxy - Atlanta

We watched the full season of So You Think You Can Dance and were very excited to watch the performances of the amazing dancers live. From what we could see, the dancers did not disappoint. Unfortunately, the venue is really not idea for a show where it is important to be able to see. Most of the seating is on the main floor and it is flat. That makes it very hard for most people to be able to see the dancers, especially when they are doing routines that involve laying on the floor. Next time the show comes to town, I would recommend selecting a venue that allows everyone to get a good view of the stage. I have been to concerts at the Roxy and it it a great venue for music

    Small but fun

by KG on 11/9/19Coca-Cola Roxy - Atlanta

The show was great. I went to this tour 10 years ago and it has been drastically downsized, guessing because the show has been around forever and isn’t as popular. The fold out chairs were not comfortable and definitely not what I expected, but my daughter and I loved the dances and the show was still fun.

Great dancers and choreography, bad venue

by junoble on 11/9/19Coca-Cola Roxy - Atlanta

While all ten of the SYTYCD dancers were AMAZING and put on a great show, the Coca-Cola Roxy is an awful place to showcase dance. It was difficult to see the stage from all but the closest seats. Next time come to Atlanta, SYTYCD! We have great venues in the city.

    Dancing good, venue terrible

by Alyse on 11/9/19Coca-Cola Roxy - Atlanta

The Roxy should not be a venue for anything other than music. The venue took a way from the dancing and the floor. No one could see and temporary folding chairs for a $65 ticket to see dance is embarrassing. We won’t go back unless they change the venue.

    SYTYCD Talent Triumph

by JG on 11/9/19Coca-Cola Roxy - Atlanta

SYTYCD Live was a non-stop exhibition of tremendous talent and inspiration. The performances matched the high level of outstanding choreography; and the costumes and music were impressive and memorable. Clearly the winner of the SYTYCD Title of America's Favorite Dancer, Bailey, was the crowd favorite for the Atlanta show. But Gino gave superior performance in every number he danced showing why he was in the top 4 on the TV show. The only negative was that sometimes the bright spotlights they used were shining directly in the eyes of the audience members making hard to see the dancers. Fortunately, that was infrequent and not long lasting. Overall, the show was a great crowd pleaser and a terrific value for the money.

    by K. M. on 11/7/19Salem Civic Center - Salem

After watching all seasons of the show so far, I was finally glad that they decided to bring the tour to our city. It was definitely an item checked off the bucket list! They were fantastic!

SYTYCS - - So You Think You Can Sit

by Dorothy 2 Oz on 11/7/19Salem Civic Center - Salem

Salem Civic Center is an awful venue- the steps are deep, the chairs are small & the parking spaces are few. As someone who suffers from daily pain, I wanted to leave as soon as I got there. We spent the second half sitting on the steps instead of in our seats. I will never attend another event there until a remodel occurs.

    Fantastic!

    by L. R. on 11/7/19Salem Civic Center - Salem

Fantastic! The dancers were so talented and didn't miss a step. They really gave 100% and the entertainment value was phenomenal. The venue was so easy to get in and out of, making for a perfect casual experience.

    Dance,Dance,Dance

    by C. D. on 11/6/19Beau Rivage Theatre - Biloxi

The meet and greet was disappointing. All you did was stand in line on the side and wait your turn for the picture.Five of the 10 dancers shook your hand and then you stood next to them for 1 group picture that you had to download and print yourself. You were handed the gift of a clear fannypack with sunglasses and a keychain that had so you think you can dance on it.It took all of 15 minutes including the wait in line. You then had an hour and fifteen minutes to wait for the show. The show was great, however the seats on the floor weren't the best. There were times when you had to watch on the screens because you couldn't see the performers feet. The seats had no elevation and made it difficult to see at times.

    Fantastic show! Needed better seats!

by OleMountainGoat on 11/5/19Hard Rock Live Orlando - Orlando

The show itself was incredible! The problem at this venue all the floor seats and the riser seats behind the production area, do not allow you to see the dancers when they are low to the floor. At the front of the stage there was solid lights or sound that did not give you the view. I would recommend purchasing Balcony seats, where you will be able to see each performance.

Talent was the best. Venue was the worst!

by susieq on 11/5/19Hard Rock Live Orlando - Orlando

Footlights on stage covered up the dancing foot work!!!!!!! Ushers walked in the isle every couple of minutes blocking the view of the performances. Late comers should not be allowed to be seated until intermission. Hard rock needs to get their act together for such a performance or not accept it because this was a great show that was very poorly supported by the venue. This was a dance program, not a hard rock concert! I loved the show. The dancing and choreography were top notch. However, I will not attend another program that includes dancing, like a Broadway show or so you think you can dance. Or a ballet!?! .... At the hard rock ever again! 4-5 stars or the performances. 0 stars for the venue!
