Outdoor festival in July in Alabama just doesn't w
by SadSlossPatron on 8/28/18Sloss Furnaces - BirminghamThe bands we were able to see were good, but lightning delays ended up cancelling around half the acts, and shortening/time shifting others into slots that were much less desirable than the original schedule. I ended up only seeing about 5 bands the entire weekend, which was nowhere near worth the price of admission. July in the south is generally pretty unstable weather wise with thunderstorms rolling through almost every afternoon. You could say the festival organizers were unlucky this year with the weather, but it may be that they were lucky this was the first time delays were so bad. Hell, don't call them unlucky at all, it's not like they lost any money because of it; they provided half an experience and kept all the profit. Even when storms aren't a problem, being outside all day in the heat is already a miserable experience. I love Birmingham and its music scene and want an event like this to succeed, but I won't be back if they continue to hold it in the middle of summer.
