Great music of Pink Floyd; production not so much

by DannySS on 7/1/18Ascend Amphitheater part of the Journeys Concert Series - Nashville

As a fan of Pink Floyd, the music was great. The music was right on as was the vocalist. The solo guitarist really added to the performance. The production, however, left a lot to be desired. The camera shots were regularly late to pick up the key performer. It was though the technical director had never seen the show before and didn't know what to expect. Disappointing. A main feature of the show was to be a laser show. It was featured in all the promotions and the laser team was marketed as a professional production company. For the first half of the show, there were no laser effects. One could see hot spots where there were probably lasers, but no light rays, images, etc. For the second part of the show, there was mist or smoke to catch the beams, but it was anticlimactic. There were circles on the ceiling of the stage and a couple of lasers creating a flat plane overhead. Not muchto it.

    Great Experience...except the singer

by Lilskeezer on 6/21/18Ascend Amphitheater part of the Journeys Concert Series - Nashville

I loved hearing this classics with the Symphony, but the lead singer, channeling his Robert Plant-esque look, was more of the show than he should’ve been. His voice was lackluster and his stage presence/awkward conversation with the crowd took you out of the experience. In addition, adding one more vocalist for the smoother, David Gilmore style would’ve been great. Aside from that, the orchestra including the lead guitarist (wow!) were great to listen to especially in that venue.

Good music and relaxing date night

by Anonymous on 6/19/18Ascend Amphitheater part of the Journeys Concert Series - Nashville

This was very well put together show, but advertising a laser light show that didn't happen was a little disappointing. Otherwise enjoyed.

    Okay I guess

by Goodfellow54 on 6/19/18Ascend Amphitheater part of the Journeys Concert Series - Nashville

The orchestra did an outstanding job the lead guitarist was top shelf. He shredded every riff to the max. Great job. The lead singer lacked charisma and never really connected with the audience (in my opinion) he seemed to lack any chemistry with the rest of the performers and made several comments that were odd (Ok, they want me to get off the stage now... and the pianist who he was building up as playing multiple instruments stating no, all I do is play the piano and sing backup) was weird. It was also marketed to have an awesome light show, which failed miserably. I've seen Brit Floyd, another tribute band.... this was not a Brit Floyd experience.

Pink Floyd Journeys was sluggish and sweaty!

by Piab on 6/19/18Ascend Amphitheater part of the Journeys Concert Series - Nashville

Unfortunately, the concert was very disappointing in terms of the energy, performance and accompanying light show/stage design. Everything felt old and recycled, remarkably sluggish and slow; and simultaneously, it was extremely hot and sweaty! But only because of the weather ... not the show! I would consider a more unconventional, possibly younger in mind/attitude group, that was more experimental and edgy - willing to take risks and provide interpretation of music that captures the ethos and attitude of such rock legends!

    Music of Pink Floyd-ish

by BlueMargo on 6/19/18Ascend Amphitheater part of the Journeys Concert Series - Nashville

Symphony was wonderful. The band performing the Pink Floyd parts was average at best. I’ve heard much better cover bands- even here at the same venue. Take the Controls and Australian Pink Floyd to name a couple. The front man was a weak link and annoying to watch. The lady that sang did well and the male back up singer was also good. The guitarist missed key parts and sounded more like Carlos Santana towards the end. Not a good promo for the symphony which performed well.

    The Music of Pink Floyd

by lolodavis on 6/19/18Ascend Amphitheater part of the Journeys Concert Series - Nashville

Although Ascend is my favorite concert venue, i wished i had saved my money on this one. The symphony did a good job, George Citron and Kathryn Key were pretty impressive...not impressed with lead vocals or general presentation of music in general. Sometimes the music seemed a little "off" beat or it could have been the lead singer had difficulty keeping up. Either way, i would not recommend it. We spent over $100 on three tickets and wished we would have just stayed home by the pool listening to Pink Floyd.
