About

Originating in Huntington Park, CA in 1981 as a cover band in the head-banging scene, Slayer has become one of the most important metal bands in rock history, commonly referred to in the Big 4 alongside Anthrax, Megadeath and Metallica. Their first two albums, 1983’s Show No Mercy and 1985’s Hell Awaits, were released on Metal Blade Records, before they signed to Rick Rubin’s Def Jam label in 1986. There they released their third album Reign in Blood, which caught mainstream attention and has proved to be a genre-defining thrash metal album, influencing countless bands as well as the subgenres of death metal and black metal. Tom Araya’s shouted vocals and graphic lyrics are thought-provoking and articulate, while their tight musical structures combining hardcore rock’s rhythms and speed metal’s frenzied pace generate fast and aggressive songs, intensified through the use of double bass drumming, and unconventional but engaging guitar riffs. This all-out rock offensive has been wowing ticket holders for over three decades, selling out concerts across the globe. Over the years, Slayer has been nominated for five Grammy awards, most recently 2009’s World Painted Blood, and continues to tour while working on new material.

    Sad to see them go.

by M. C. on 11/19/19Denny Sanford PREMIER Center - Sioux Falls

I've seen Slayer 5 times and they never disappoint. I can't pick one show that was better than the other but this one was special because it's probably the last time I'll see them. They didn't disappoint again. Full on pyro show with lots of smiles, head-bangs and horns. I've never seen Tom Araya smile so much. The whole show we were all smiling and having a wonderful time. I would suggest wearing ear plugs. This show was loud! I'll miss this band and what they represent. The other performers were awesome also! The Ilegals, Ministry and Primus. Great to see Phil Anselmo doing old Pantera! Dedicated to Dime and Vinnie. Ministry never disappoints. It's a New World Order! Love the old stuff from them and they sounded amazing! Primus, I've never seen them but was highly impressed. They are a wonderful band to see live. Made me feel a part of a family! Go, see this show! Enjoy every minute of the good times.

    Final tour

by t. d. on 11/19/19Denny Sanford PREMIER Center - Sioux Falls

Was great to be able Slayer one last time. They were having a great time on stage and still sound amazing. The 3 opening acts were also really good. Breaks between shows were really short which is always a plus. Great way to spend 5 hours on a Friday.

    Loud and Proud

by BrianV on 11/19/19TaxSlayer Center - Moline

Ministry stole the show for me. I have wanted to see Ministry for a long time and I was not disappointed in any way shape or form. Ministry's cover of the Black Sabbath song Supernaut blew my mind. Primus was the main reason I bought the concert ticket. I have wanted to see Primus for a very long time also. I was in awe of their set list. Many songs I did not expect to hear I did. Fantastical. Primus' cover of the Rush song Cygnus X was incredible. Then there was Slayer. What a great stage presence and pyrotechnical adventure. Not that familiar with their songs but an extraordinary show. WOW. I would go to the show again if the concert was closer to where I live. 11 out of 10 stars

    11/14/2019 Moline IL

    by J.Swift on 11/18/19TaxSlayer Center - Moline

Phil and the Illegals had the place rocking with the "Vulgar display of Pantera" . ironically my dad saw pantera in the same building 11/14/96 and never having the chance to see Pantera this was an outstanding experience.Ministry and Primus were fun. But SLAYER tore the place up. If your on the fence about seeing them. Go do it if this really is the last run for Slayer they are going out with a bang

    Great show!

by Ma on 11/18/19Denny Sanford PREMIER Center - Sioux Falls

Philip H. Anselmo and Slayer were amazing! Our only issues were with the venue. Most of the staff was great, but overall, we didn't feel they treated the VIP ticket holders very well.

    Slayer’s final goodbye

    by Striker78 on 11/17/19TaxSlayer Center - Moline

All four bands were great. Slayer was amazing with the pyros. Primus and ministry played all the classic hits during their sets. Was great seeing Phil Anselmo and the Illegals do Pantera songs.

    Awesome

by Dan on 11/17/19TaxSlayer Center - Moline

It is a bittersweet situation. I’ve enjoyed Slayer since before the turn of the century. This was my 6th time seeing them live. The first was in 1991 on the clash of the titans tour and I can say they are better now. I appreciate they are going out still able to deliver and not staying too long and besmirching their history as some bands have done, but it sucks to see one of my favorite bands hang it up. Ministry and the Illegals put on all killer no filler sets. Primus on the other hand sucked the life out of the venue. Having them last up before Slayer really nose dived the energy, thank Satan Slayer woke everybody up after them.

Can anything SLAYER! Ever be wrong?

    by Big01dram on 11/17/19TaxSlayer Center - Moline

I have yet to find a Slayer song I don’t like. Coupled with them being examples of great people, you can’t go wrong seeing Slayer. Venue was also great. Always better seats than others but it seemed my would have been nice just about anywhere. Decent restrooms. Outside the venue was great too. Found free parking not far away at all. Good places to eat and drink pretty close too. Only adverse thing that jumped at me was the bottleneck for the upper tiers when leaving. Getting downstairs took some time. Otherwise when I find a show worthy of my time I’ll be back.
