    So good

by Gio on 5/21/19James M. Nederlander Theatre - Chicago

From the moment I sat down into my chair to the first note/ word that the guy playing mark says/ sings I get the chills because Rent is the kind of musical that will give you chills because it’s that good. Best experience I’ve ever had

    Rent alumni

    by J. on 5/20/19James M. Nederlander Theatre - Chicago

Not for Rent-alumni from the 90’s. Understand it had to be updated for 2019, but did not travel well. Aside from a performance that (while everyone was incredibly talented!!) didn’t match my expectation—we just live in a different era which you can’t do anything about. The height of the AIDS epidemic was so unique, somber—and just sad. Not the time for levity, unnecessary laughter and audience participation!

    Outstanding

by ToniG on 5/20/19James M. Nederlander Theatre - Chicago

There was not a weak performer in the bunch. I especially enjoyed Javon King (Angel) & Devinre' Adams (Collins). Another pleasant surprise was Lyndie Moe (Maureen) who's rendition of Over the Moon was fantastic. Very talented engaging company.

    Not as good as expected

by Katrina on 5/20/19James M. Nederlander Theatre - Chicago

This was our 5th time seeing Rent in various venues and 3rd seeing it downtown Chicago. We all felt the show was rushed and that the cast didn't seem to leave time for the audience to interact. We were very disappointed in the show.

Just as poignant and emotional as the first time I saw it 20 years ago!

    We left during intermission.

After seeing West Side Story the previous week at the Lyric, Rent was disappointing.

Great show with just a few weak notes

    by P. on 5/19/19James M. Nederlander Theatre - Chicago

We saw this at the former Oriental Theater in Chicago and were blown away at the beauty of the venue. The performance was very well done. The only two sticking points for us were a stack of speakers that ruined our sightlines of the left side of the stage from the Loge seats that I paid extra for. Also some of the cast were not as strong as others, to a noticable fault at times. But overall a great show and a good time. Would recommend to anyone who hasn't seen it.

Wow! Great cast! I loved the staging!

    by S. on 5/18/19James M. Nederlander Theatre - Chicago

My seat was limited view. It was in the Dress Circle section. Thankfully it wasn't full so I could lean over and have a good window to view the stage. The theatre is beautiful! Overall, my experience was amazing and I am so glad we took a chance on getting tickets at the last minute.

Could not hear what they were singing...

    by E. W. on 5/18/19James M. Nederlander Theatre - Chicago

Needed a songbook to read along. Must be a problem for everyone as they had a voice promoter. Maybe the microphones don’t pick up sound clearly. The theater is amazing. Staff was top notch. Would go to another show there but not this one

    Moving

    by H. V. on 5/17/19James M. Nederlander Theatre - Chicago

The performers were wonderful. The songs and choreography were incredible. The music was a little to loud and sometimes made it difficult to make out the words of the songs being sung. If I wasn't familiar with the musical that would have been more off putting for me.

    Chaos

    by R. H. on 5/15/19James M. Nederlander Theatre - Chicago

Set was too cluttered and so many actors on stage at the same time I didn't know who was speaking.
