    Rain does the Beatles right

by CrimsonDynamo on 4/3/17Oriental Theatre Chicago - Chicago

These guys absolutely killed it! Note for note, they sounded like the real deal, including all the complex nuances. As close as we'll ever get to seeing the Beatles perform live. I include their keyboard player with this - he was as essential as the 4 members of Rain who were front and center. Well done, Rain, you guys nailed it all the way and then some.

    Rain was incredible !

by VJG57 on 4/3/17Oriental Theatre Chicago - Chicago

Rain was a really incredible experience. The musicians are really good and did a wonderful job of recreating the Beatles sound. The presentation was great as well. They even emulated the speech of the Beatle they portrayed. It was also nice how their appearance changed to coincide with the change in the Beatles appearance over the course of time. I loved the video clips and TV commercials from the 60's. A really humorous blast from the past.

We really enjoyed this show. Rain clearly put a tremendous amount of time and energy into becoming the Beatles. We especially loved the earlier songs.

Rain, Not your ordinary Beatle cover band!!!!

by Prophet1 on 4/1/17Oriental Theatre Chicago - Chicago

I've long been a fan of the Beatles and even though I had an opportunity to see them in Chicago back in the 60;s I let that opportunity slip by...But luckily I never let an opportunity to see Rain slip by. Rain performs songs that I've never heard other Beatle cover bands perform. Not only is their sound spot on, but their performance in terms of banter, mannerisms and looks is perfect. I imagine that watching Rain is what it would have been like had I gone to see the Beatles back in 64....except with one difference. I actually can hear the music. So while I miss John and George, Rain brings them back along with Ringo and Paul. They also help me remember why the Beatles will always be my favorite band. For that 2 hour plus experience with Rain, I'm young again.

    Venue was disappointing

by jkaf on 5/31/15Bank of America Theatre - Chicago

First of all, let me say that the musicians were AWESOME. I felt like I was really watching the Beatles - theses guys are top-notch. They get SIX stars!! My problem was that the ushers limited my ability to enjoy a concert-like experience. People tried to dance in the aisles - they were shooed back into their seats. The woman next to me tried to use a flashlight during one of the encore performance, she was tapped on her shoulder to turn it off. "No lights in the theatre allowed" the usher told her. A woman who had a little too much to drink spent her entire time with her hands in the air and was surprised that she wasn't kicked out with the number of times she was spoken to. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?? I thought that this was supposed to be enjoyed like a regular concert, but I was too afraid to show it. I only give the three stars because whoever the promoters are picked the wrong place to have this. Next time, consider the Paramount, where they are much more focused on ensuring that the audience has a great time. Unless it's for classic theatre, do not go to shows at this place.

    Fantastic .... but ....

by palos on 5/27/15Bank of America Theatre - Chicago

Rain: A Tribute To the Beatles was a wonderful performance, but my friend and I did NOT enjoy it because the sound was horribly loud and actually distorted. Let me be clear ... the performers were wonderful and I really believe my huge disappointment is with the theater, or the sound people. I had seen Jersey Boys at this same theater and almost identical seating a couple of years ago and the sound was perfect. In fact, I went twice! That was certainly NOT the case for RAIN's performance. It was so bad, that the couple sitting next to us actually left as soon as intermission came. They couldn't take it either. My friend asked to change her seat to the very back row because she couldn't take it. The music was so loud and distorted that it overpowered the voices. Now do you remember The Beatles sounding like that on the Ed Sullivan Show? I don't. I actually covered my ears. Loud is one thing ... distortion and ear piercing is another. This was such a dissapointment as it is not often that I can afford a trip into Chicago and the theater. When I do go, it is something very special to me and I pay for main floor Orchestra seating. I thought I had chosen well. Just left of center (on the end) about 10 rows back (not too close). I was so excited to have been able to get these seats ... as they are always what I attempt to obtain for other plays. As I said, Jersey Boys was perfect. So was Wicked (another theater, but similiar seating). If I could complain to someone I would, but what good would that do me now? ... so I vent here. I don't know why it was so bad for Sunday's matinee. It simply ruined it for me, my friend, and obviously other people. No one I saw appeared to be happy and upbeat as we left the theater. I will not place blame on the performers, but something went terribly wrong Sunday, May 24th, at 2:00pm at the Bank of America Theater!
