Phoenix Suns History

As Arizona's original professional sports franchise, the Phoenix Suns were established in the NBA in 1968 and for the last 30 years have been entertaining fans in downtown Phoenix at Mortgage Matchup Center (formerly PHX Arena). The rich history of the franchise includes some of most memorable teams in NBA history, including the 1975–76 "Sunderella Suns," the 1992–93 team that featured Charles Barkley and reached the NBA Finals, and the ":07 Seconds or Less" era teams, during which Steve Nash was twice named the league's MVP.

Enshrined in the Suns’ Ring of Honor are Alvan Adams, Barkley, Tom Chambers, Jerry Colangelo, Walter Davis, Cotton Fitzsimmons, Connie Hawkins, Kevin Johnson, Dan Majerle, Al McCoy, John MacLeod, Nash, Joe Proski, Dick Van Arsdale and Paul Westphal.

The Phoenix Suns had a successful 2020–21 season, winning the Western Conference and narrowly falling in the NBA Finals to the Milwaukee Bucks. The Suns ended the 2021–2022 season with a franchise record of 64 wins and finished with the NBA's best record by eight games above the second best, the league's largest differential in 22 years. They also made back-to-back appearances in the Western Conference semifinals in 2022 and 2023.

Seats were nice location BUT the SEAT SIZE is VERY SMALL WIDTH and maybe reason not to get more games? A LOT smaller than just a few years ago........Also, cost of a simply beer.....WAY to expensive

  • Game at the stadium

by Thanos on 11/27/25Mortgage Matchup Center (formerly PHX Arena) - PhoenixRating: 4 out of 5

Getting ticket 1 day before was easy. Decided to use transportation, very clever and practical you simply park to the station then use the train FOR FREE with your ticket it's included. Great. Entering the stadium was easy. No KD for this game so if you are a fan and mainly got your ticket to see a player and he is injured or not playing you can feel doomed. Everything was ok only part is the employees working at the stands for eating where all cold not enthusiast or helping. Some of them even aggressiv bad experience when I tried at almost all places to get my free popcorn or soda with the coupon they gave me at entry. This gives a bad image of the nba and stadium. Work on that.

  • Wonderful outcome & experience!

Our group of 12 went, had rafter seats & view was great. Many first timers to an NBA game - I'm so proud of these Suns and the experience that these new fans saw.

  • A great night in the AZ desert

by L. Eric Culverson on 11/19/25Mortgage Matchup Center (formerly PHX Arena) - PhoenixRating: 5 out of 5

The Hawks @ Suns games was one of the most exciting games of the NBA season. The Hawks showed their collective strength and determination in the 4th quarter. They overcame a 22 point deficit with under 10 minutes to play, and pulled off the victory. Amazing! Even more amazing to witness it live!

  • Fantastic!

by Madmolly on 10/26/25Mortgage Matchup Center (formerly PHX Arena) - PhoenixRating: 4 out of 5

First off, thank you to Fry's for the free tickets to the home opener. It was fantastic! I didn't realize how high up we would be but we could still see pretty well. The tee shirt is very cool, can't wait to wear it to the next game. Why four stars instead of five? We're to high up to ever catch any of the tee shirts tosses. I did love the tee shirt drop thing though. Very cool. Very Hunger Games.

  • Great game, freezing cold venue

by Halljsf on 10/17/25Mortgage Matchup Center (formerly PHX Arena) - PhoenixRating: 3 out of 5

We left early because it was uncomfortably cold in the venue. Game was great! Seats were excellent! Fans and security were pleasant. Parking was okay. The cold definitely affected our experience.
