OLIVIA NEWTON JOHN IN CONCERT:
Olivia Newton John is one of the top-selling recording artists of all time, but to many fans she'll forever be doe-eyed Sandy from the 1978 blockbuster film Grease. Newton John's Summer Nights residency at the Flamingo in Las Vegas takes its name from one of Grease's most popular musical numbers, and a medley of beloved songs from the film's soundtrack provides the centerpiece of the show. Newton John rounds out the experience with pitch-perfect performances of her early country material, songs from the Xanadu soundtrack, and pop hits like "Physical", making for an unforgettable night of career-spanning hits, something true fans won't want to miss.
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
Born in England and raised in Australia, Olivia Newton John got her start performing with a short-lived Melbourne girl group called Sol Four. She appeared on various Australian TV programs before traveling to Britain in 1966 to record her debut single "Till You Say You'll Be Mine". In 1971 she released her first solo album If Not For You, scoring her first No. 1 hit with the title track and landing another hit with follow-up single "Banks of the Ohio". In addition to landing seven consecutive No. 1's on the Adult Contemporary chart during the '70s, she experienced considerable success as a country artist with a popular cover of John Denver's classic hit "Take Me Home, Country Roads" and her Top 10 hit "Let Me Be There", which earned her a Grammy for Best Female Country Vocal Performance. The pinnacle of her fame came in 1978 with her starring role in the musical film Grease and its accompanying soundtrack, which spent 12 weeks at No. 1 and still appears on Billboard's Top Soundtracks chart today. The '80s saw Newton John shed her good-girl image in favor of the edgier look and sound as she unveiled on 1981's "Physical", an international smash and the decade's top-selling single in the US. In 2014 she debuted her Summer Nights residency show at the Flamingo in Las Vegas, earning praise from critics and fans alike for her elegant performances and perfectly preserved voice.
Her voice is amazing! She is so graceful and gracious. Awesome concert!
This woman brings it all to her show, with enormous heart and soul, and a voice that has gotten richer and more powerful thru the years. Her performance was spot on, fun and upbeat when singing her hits, and sophisticated and touching when she moves to her ballads. THANK YOU so much for coming to Englewood, Olivia, and bringing us your beautiful talent and spirit. And keep on keeping on - because we are behind you 1,000%! God bless always!
Olivia Newton-John is one of our all-time favorite performers, ever!! Not to be missed!! Devoted to Olivia!!
Olivia was inspiring and beautiful and gave a wonderful performance! You could tell she was genuinely happy to be back on stage again, she looked amazingly beautiful, sounded great and gave an unforgettable performance. We were even treated to a surprise guest, which was Didi Conn who was sitting in the audience and wound up coming up on the stage to sing songs from Grease with Olivia. Would highly recommend seeing her on this Tour!
Wonderful concert with a classy and graceful woman with a superb voice!
I've been a fan for forty years, so seeing Olivia perform live was a dream. She did not disappoint. She sang as beautifully as always; she was funny, loving, warm, soulful, and fabulous. She connected with her audience from the start, when she came out singing "Magic." It was a night I will never forget and forever cherish.
Great concert!! Absolutely adore Olivia!! I've always been a fan.
Olivia Newton-John performs from the heart. Her voice is amazing and she sings most of her hits. It’s non stop and no fancy gimmicks just a pure crystal clear voice that sounds as fresh as she did 40 years ago. So if you have never seen the biggest female singles artist of the 70s with the biggest hit of the 80s (based on the Billboard music charts) then I recommend catching her show next time around.
Great show and Bergen PAC is a great venue! Olivia's voice sounded great and her band was fabulous! We ate at U Pie before the show...highly recommend it!
Olivia Newton-John is a national treasure and one of the sweetest people I’ve ever met. Her voice as still as angelic as it ever was. Run don’t walk if given a chance to see her!
Olivia and her show were fantastic. A charming and courageous person. She seemed to be having fun and was down to earth and put on a fun show. One of two women I know that sang pitch perfect on their records. I was amazed she can still hit those high notes. I saw Jeff Lynne (ELO) 4 months ago in London and he sang Xanadu and Olivia sang it too when I saw her a few nights ago. HOW COOL IS THAT!!!!
Her angelic voice along with her humble funny self made it a great show. I love her even more now knowing that she's an environmentalist and her positive view of life.
My wife and I had a fantastic time at the Olivia Newton-John concert. Our seats were excellent and the sound system was great (not too loud and not too soft). Olivia has maintained her lovely voice all these years. You could just feel the love that her fans had for her and the love she has for her fans. This was an event that I will never forget.
So many songs connected this packed Adler Theater with Olivia Newton-John. Hopelessly Devoted, and for over four decades. The One That (They) Want. Honestly Love You. ... Got all of those hits and so many many more, one right after the other. And that smile -- that beautiful smile that has sparkled through all of these years ... it just melts you. ... She didn't have the fancy sparkling dresses that she wears in Vegas, in fact, went with sparkling tennis shoes, but that mattered none. She was comfortable with her crowd, and the crowd was appreciative of every song, every conversation. ... No doubt, should she return, just "Let Me Be There."
Olivia has always been my favorite female singer and this is the first time I have gotten to see her live, and I, 52, so I’m very happy about that.
The entire experience was amazing! Ms Newton John was beautiful, her voice angelic. Have always enjoyed her music, some of the songs she performed were written by her and carried a special message for the world to hear. Music performers can indeed touch the audience hearts, she certainly touched many that evening.
Staff was very helpful. Offered to find my seat before I asked. Sound system is great.
We were fortunate to see Olivia in a beautiful facility in Davenport, Iowa called the Adler Theratre. She was very warm and interactive with the audience. Her voice was spot on and her optimism of life was an inspiration. If you get a chacne to see her, dont let it go by. She sang songs from the 70's, newere songs, and a set from Grease. It was a great concert. Thankyuo Olivia for sharing your talents.
We drove 2 1/2 hours to see the show, on Sunday. But the show was on Saturday :-(
This is the first time my husband and I have seen Olivia in concert. She was everything that was promised and more. She interacted with the crowed and sang beautifully. The whole band was friendly and professional. I think anybody that enjoys Olivia's music would love this show.
