    Bad pairing

    by phredd7 on 9/14/09Snoqualmie Casino-Ballroom - Snoqualmie

This concert brought out a divided audience. Half were there to see Cold Blood and left after they had played, and the other half were there to see Mountain and spent a lot of time going in and out of the ballroom during Cold Blood. Leslie West did not have his great voice from years past and used reverb to help boost his vocals. He is still one of the Guitar Gods, and his playing was exceptional. Corky Lang has not lost any of his great abilities.

Leslie West has still got it

    by cougbill on 9/14/09Snoqualmie Casino-Ballroom - Snoqualmie

The only problem was that Mountain only played about a hour and fifteen minutes. The bass player, Jones, was fantastic, one of the best I've ever seen. A great energetic show. Didn't really enjoy Cold Blood except when Lydia sang the blues. The encore was embarrassing with Lydia not knowing the words.

    West still has it

    by Eastsidenative on 9/14/09Snoqualmie Casino-Ballroom - Snoqualmie

Leslie West can still play the guitar, but next time I need to remember to bring my earplugs. I forgot he was so loud. And his new bassist is pretty odd-looking, but he was absolutely incredible.

    Lydia Pinse & Coldblood

    by GigiY on 9/12/09Snoqualmie Casino-Ballroom - Snoqualmie

I had never seen seen Lydia Pinse in person so I was really excited to see her after 30 years of listening to her music. She did not disappoint, her voice is as great as it ever was. So much soul comes out of that little woman, lord all mighty! My husband and I could have sat there and listened to her for hours. Her band is tight with strong solos by trumpet player Rich Armstrong, not to mention a strong adhesion by drummer Donny Baldwin. 3B organ was played strongly by Stephen Salinas and his playing was the backbone to Ms Pense's bluesy whaling vocals. Her band seemed to respect and love her so much, it was very sweet. It was also fun to hear a couple of songs with some a little help from the East Bay Grease (Tower of Power) Having originally come from San Francisco it was fun to hear so much music from my roots. I would very much liked to have heard Lo and Behold or You Had to Know, but alas it was not meant to be, but isn't that how an entertainer should leave us....wanting just a bit more? After the show Miss Pense sat out in the lobby and signed autographs and chatted with the fans. It was a very nice ending to a perfect evening.

    Lesley West and Mountain

    by Mondello on 9/12/09Snoqualmie Casino-Ballroom - Snoqualmie

Third time I have seen Lesley West perform. Amazing guitar work! Thoroughly loved this show. He has not missed a beat after all these years. One of the best shows I've seen in a long time. It ranks up there for me with the Drowning Pool show at Crue Fest 2. I simply love guitarists who put their hearts and souls into their music. I wish he could play a larger venue as an opening act to amplify his awesome sound. A real treat was a segue into Michael Jackson's "Beat It" during the guitar solo in "Nantucket Sleigh Ride". I would wholeheartedly recommend to anyone who loves great guitarists to see Lesley West. He has gotten better with age! Hello to my friend Kenneth John who introduced me to the world of stratospheric guitar work.

    Leslie West ROCKED!!

by keerasel on 9/2/09Water Street Music Hall - Rochester

Leslie West and the original Mountain were around oh-so-long ago, and compared to some of the other bands of their time, really didn't have a huge collection of music (compared to CSN, who also was on tour this summer). No matter though - his skill as a guitarist, and the superb Rev Jones and Corky Laing made it a show worth seeing. More people should have been there, but the crowd was enthusiastic, and given the temperature inside, it was probably just as well that they stayed home - we got a great show, and didn't have to get crushed in the process. Sorry the rest of you missed it!!

    Mountain was Outstanding!!!

    by Rando1 on 8/22/09Showcase Live - Foxboro

Leslie and the band were Very Tight. Leslie's guitar performance was right on all night. He was cranking High Voltage all evening. Corky Laing was very aggressive with his Drum performance and his great stage personality. Corky has a way to rock the crowd with his music and his movements while he is performing. Rev Jones is a Great Bass player who kept up with Corky's and Leslie's rythym. He performed a Great Bass Solo of " Somewhere over the rainbow" and " I can see clearly now." Nantucket Sleighride was great . I liked the way Leslie showed his true diversified talent with his Guitar Solo mixed the "Beat it" and "Paint it black." I really liked the "Mississippi queen" and "Never in my life," encore the Classic Mountain tunes. It was my first live performance of Mountain, it will not be my last. Outstanding Show. p.s. Soundboard cd of show for me ??
