Leslie West and Mountain still can deliver

by MountainManFan on 8/22/09Showcase Live - Foxboro

Saw Mountain in Foxboro Ma this week at the Showcase Live. This is the venue in the shadow of Gillette stadium where the NE Patriots play. Showcase is owned by the Krafts who also own the Patriots. Their vision was to open a small venue ( < 1000 people) where people can see a show up close. And up close we were. We were about 25 feet from the stage off to the right and had a great view of the show. Mountain started with only Leslie on the stage playing People get Ready. The show covered many of Mountain's hits - interspersed with a few covers, including Michael Jackson, Bob Dylan and the Rolling Stones. Some of the covers were included in Nantucket Sleighride I thought the band was tight and played well. There was enough improvisation that I felt I wasn't listening to a greatest hits cd and the dynamics were there - classic Mountain and they delivered.

I liked this show Mountain was great! I had never seen Leslie West way back when..... but Mountain sounded GREAT. Leslie West makes that guitar sing and has a very strong voice. Rev Jones was amazing on the bass..... I enjoyed how well he played! And Corky Laing did a great job on the drums. I was glad I went! It was nice to hear some songs I had not heard in many years!

    mountain still rocks

I saw Mountain perform 40 years ago. I was very impressed as a teenager with the massive wall of sound and great songs. 40 years later Leslie West still knows how to rock out, with sweet melodic melodies and incredible tone. He has lost nothing, and in fact is even better now with his effortless playing and precise timing.

People get Ready, Blowin in the wind, Natucket Sleigh Ride, no air conditioning in the club, Leslie West , Rev on Bass and Corky- were just incredibly perfect playing better than any of have seen in 10 years. for this show we all had so much fun and Thanks John From Water Street Music Hall. It was really hot ( temp hot ) but Les and the boys were on fire ! you would think the AC was on, great sound/ acoustics too, Love Those Budda Amps Leslie played through, Leslie West Got married onstage at Woodstock 40 , In Bethel New York on Saturday and here he is, doing a beautiful show for us in the heat, and I think I heard : I can see clearly now the rain is gone :)

    Leslie West can still play!

by Donster on 8/21/09Water Street Music Hall - Rochester

Listened to Leslie West and Mountain in the late sixties and heard he was into the blues lately; didn't get a chance to hear any of the blues, played mostly the old rock standards he was famous for. His guitart work was masterful!

    Mountain show -way too short!

    by reenie88 on 8/19/09Showcase Live - Foxboro

Mountain sounded very good, and the venue is now one of my favorites, but, I have to say my friends and I were very disappointed at the length of time the music was played. They did not even come on stage until 8:20PM, and were done by 9:30PM., and there wasn't even an opening act.

The show was great. West still can jam and his voice still sounds great. It was only him, Corky, who still rocked, and a new base player. The base guy also did an excelent solo. We enjoyed it to were we wanted alot more! Keep up the good rocken!
