About

Michael McDonald, an alumnus of the famed Groundlings Theater in Los Angeles, has recurring roles on the hit Showtime series “House Of Lies” and “Web Therapy.”

In the 1990’s, McDonald worked steadily in television. Finally, in 1998, he obtained a starring role on “MADtv,” where he enjoyed an unprecedented ten-year run. While there, McDonald created several popular characters - most notably man-child Stuart Larkin, Marvin Tikkvah, Rusty Miller, and Mofaz, the Depressed Persian Tow Truck Man.

In 2007, McDonald left “MADtv”.  He co-starred in all three “Austin Powers” films, has appeared on every season of “Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List” and guest-starred on the hit series “Scrubs” and “Desperate Housewives.”

In addition, McDonald continues to tour as a stand-up comedian, performing to sold-out audiences across the country. His first hour-long comedy special, titled “Michael McDonald: Model. Citizen.,” aired on Showtime in 2010 and is now a best-selling DVD.

    MIchael McDonald is the best

by MarkMenloPark on 8/29/13Punch Line Comedy Club - San Francisco - San Francisco

I will definitely go again (and again) to see him, he is absolutely one of the funniest comedians out there, not only for his stand-up but also for his acting skills - he seems to be able to pull off one-man skits all by himself, and make them work. Not so many gags, just riffs on things that actually happen to him, so damned funny. Love this guy, please book him again soon!!

Michael McDonald-Look What He Can Do!

by Pearleegurlee on 8/27/13Punch Line Comedy Club - San Francisco - San Francisco

Awesome show! Michael is a funny funny man. I knew when he began with: "So I guess you like it dirty..." that we were in for a good show! Had me in stitches all night & his comebacks to hecklers were priceless. Could listen to him all night long. Was sad when he said it was time to wrap it up ("I know, it's b@lls#*t"-in best Stuart voice). Wait staff was very attentive, door & seating staff were great. Love Michael McDonald! Love Punchline! Will return soon.

    Funny Guy, Great Club

by Rodion on 8/26/13Punch Line Comedy Club - San Francisco - San Francisco

Having never seen Michael McDonald in person before, I must say that he was better than I expected, and I had pretty high expectations to begin with. If you are a fan of his work on MadTV, you'll love him live on stage. He is both interesting and very funny. Even if you've never heard of him before, I would recommend seeing his show (unless you're a prude who can't stand a few crude jokes.) I had expected him to have a more abrasive persona, like he portrayed so well on MADtv, but he was actually a very friendly guy. The only person he picked on was a poor girl who was rude enough to text while sitting right next to the stage. The Punchline is a nice, intimate venue, with a friendly staff. While I didn't sample the food, I did take advantage of their large selection of alcoholic drinks. I would definitely come here for another show.

    Michael McDonald was HILARIOUS!

by Lafillette on 5/16/11McMenamins Mission Theater - Portland

We recently saw Michael McDonald's comedy concert. Loved, loved, loved it! We will definitely go to see him again when he returns. I expected to see a lot of Mad TV characters, and yet that was a very tiny portion of a funny, funny set. What a storyteller! Soooo glad we went!

McMenamins gets MAD with Michael McDonald!

by dameduck on 5/12/11McMenamins Mission Theater - Portland

Last saturday's show at the Mission theater with Mad TV star and stand-up comedian Michael McDonald was a long time fans dream come true. He put on a great set of new and timely material, as well as briefly reintroducing some of his famous characters from MAD TV fame. The Mission theater provided the perfect back-drop for this highly entertaining and engaging performer.

I was expecting Michael McDonald the record artist

    by sensual1 on 5/9/11Triple Door - Seattle

When I first ordered my ticket, it was printed as Michael McDonald without THE COMEDIAN following his name. When I received my ticket it was printed as Michael McDonald again without THE COMEDIAN printed on it. So you can imagine my disappointment when I flew all the way from Boise, Id. expecting to see Michael McDonald the RECORDING ARTIST and ended up seeing a comedian instead. Good thing I had booked to see Keiko Matsui at the Jazz Alley the next night or it would have been a wasted trip.

I know that it is my fault but I thought I was buying tickets for the singer , Michael McDonald so we ended up not going and wasted the money. I will pay closer attention next time.
