Marriott Theatre Presents - October Sky Tickets

This musical version of the earlier film is truly transcendent. The excellent score, acting, and production heighten the emotional struggles facing family, individuals and community in a West Virginia coal mining town caught in an era of declining coal production and increased risks to miners and the families. Homer and his three young rocket scientist friends are an excellent ensemble, but the show is really stolen by Homer's parents and culminates in their duet of conflicting parental styles and goals. This is a show I'd gladly see a second time.

Beautiful music, moving plot, heartwarming story. I laughed and I cried.

Such an enjoyable show! Fast pace - great voices and characters and a good uplifting story. I liked the intertwining story lines and was drawn in immediately in the first scene - The staging was simple and well done and I was transported to that coal mine town and the residents seemed authentic to the time and place. Both the problems and dreams rang true to the time and place. The human scale of the production seemed right for this show I really really liked the music and performances.

Everything about this musical was fantastic. The actors were wonderful and exceptionally talented, portraying the hardships within a small mining town and the beauty of family and friends pulling together through the good times and the bad times. The props, costumes and music were perfect and enhanced the theme and mood throughout the entire performance. This is a wonderful story and I highly recommend it and would see it again as well!

Very good show and accommodating theater. Some staging was a bit difficult with the surround seating style. Overall we were very impressed and left the show happy. Btw, the theater definitly serves the older community, the music was a little on the quiet side and didn't feature till many loud crescendoes, which i missed. The story hit home a couple times, definitly cried. 9/10

An excellent new production with a stellar cast of performers.

I was intrigued to see what sort of musical could be based on rocket building coal miners and this did not disappoint. The young men who played the rocket building team were amazing as was the rest of the veteran cast. Love to be able to see brand new plays making their debut here in Illinois. Almost every seat in the house would be good. See it here while you can!

Wonderful performances, voices, staging and storyline. Thoroughly enjoyed it - and moved by the events portrayed

With only a hazy memory from seeing the movie many years ago, I had little expectation of a musical centered around coal mines and rockets. Who knew? I was caught up from the first number to the last. The staging was great. The venue being a theater in the round brought you into the show. The music was seamlessly integrated into the story. The casting was fantastic. Thank you for a truly enjoyable show

Loved the musical as much as I liked the movie. The singers did justice to the beautiful songs. Don't miss it! Hope it flies to Broadway.
