Hot Summer Nights was just that. HOT!!! Naughty by Nature warmed up the crowd with their 90's anthems. Monica followed with her hits sounding great. MA$E killed the crowed with his Harlem swag and showed the Bay hella love. Brandy the consummate singer sounded great and made sure the sound was right. She took her time a serenaded the crowd. She even treated us to a duet with MA$E. I wish she and Monica performed their hit "The Boy is Mine." The night ended with a tag team from Ja Rule and Ashanti. She was better than expected and Ja was great. The night was full of nostalgia. Someone should tell the performers how to pronounce Concord next time. All in all great show.
Four stars given due to heat. My husband, friends and I had an awesome time even though it's was hot as hell outside. All of the performances were great besides Brandy. She didnt sing songs, the crowd was familiar with. The DJs knew how to hype up the crowd. This is my second year going and thinking of making it a yearly event to attend. I would highly recommend if you don't mind the heat.
Monica, Brandy were exceptional - however very disappointed that they were limited to 4 songs (about 20 minutes each!) The hired DJs (between the acts) got more time than the those two ladies! Venue prices for drinks/food were outrageous! MaSe and Naughty by Nature were also very good - however problems with sound system delayed the start of the performances.
All the stars was wonderful me and my girlfriends had fun and will love too see them come back . The staff was nice helping us find our seat. Please have another one like that .
Overall the concert was fantastic. JaRule and Ashanti stole the show and I was pleasantly surprised. However, I was really looking forward to seeing Brandy. She started 30 minutes late and was doing a sound check during her performance and left the stage 6 minutes early. 24 minutes of performance was disappointing to say the least. Brandy, next time show up on time for sound check like all the other performers to give your fans the show they paid for.
This year the event was definitely appropriately named because it was a scorcher. It was a great show although due to the heat ALL of the acts (except Ja Rule & Ashanti) ending up with some technical difficulty that caused them to come on stage 15-20 minutes late. I believe they all ending up doing their full sets anyway but the heat and technical issues definitely took away from the flow of the event. But overall me and my crew had a great time going down memory lane with some great 90s music.
I'm very confused with the set layouts, almost all the groups did an 8-10 string of covers in the middle of their sets. I guess I can see the appeal but I feel each group has enough material to do more of their OWN music. That being said SWV, En Vogue and B2M still sound amazing, KC and Jojo played none of their hits and I just caught the end of Dru Hill but they sounded awesome too.
Brought me back to the good ole days, music was great, energy was great!! Tons of people feeling the music.
These types of concerts are always the most fun and enjoyable. Awesome crowds where no one is a stranger. Dancing in the isles, the music is so good, and did I mention FUN? All the acts were superb... As always, the DJ staff kept the venue vibrant and did I mention FUN?
