About

JUDY COLLINS IN CONCERT:

Legendary singer-songwriter Judy Collins has lent her iconic voice to an impressive range of genres over her five decade career, from her beloved folk work to acclaimed forays into rock and show tunes. Whether she's taking fans down memory lane with nostalgic performances of "Both Sides, Now" or breaking hearts with "Send in the Clowns," Collins never fails to imbue her material with the wistful romance that makes her performances so moving. Back on the road with a diverse collection of classic material, she is set to stun on her upcoming tour dates.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Born in Seattle, Collins grew up studying classical piano under the rigorous tutelage of acclaimed pianist Antonia Brico. After being exposed to folk music in her teens by her radio DJ father, she made a shift towards lyric-based guitar music. Immersing herself in Greenwich Village's folk scene, Collins worked as a street performer and played small clubs before eventually attracting the attention of Elektra Records and releasing her 1961 debut A Maid of Constant Sorrow. While her early albums offered a straightforward folk sound, she branched out on 1966's In My Life, recording songs by artists as diverse as Leonard Cohen and Jacques Brel and incorporating lush orchestration -- a bold move for a folk artist at the time.  The stylistic shift proved a success, earning her a Grammy in 1968 for "Both Sides, Now" and setting the tone for much of her later work. Collins continues to be a consummate performer, stunning fans around the world with her continued grace and charm in concert.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

"Judy Collins is an amazing talent; and her voice sounds as clear and crisp as it did 50 years ago.
Loved her storytelling and anecdotes too!"

"Cannot believe what a marvelous voice at age 74. A truly spectacular performance by a vital artist!"

    Beautiful after all these years

by Old fan on 5/7/24Coronado Performing Arts Center - Rockford

Judy Collins has a magnificent voice and sharp wit. Her concert was mostly new material from her newest album. More oldies would have been appreciated. My only complaint was the venue. The Rockford theater was too large and seemed to overwhelm her and the audience. The sound system was not state of the art which affected the tonality that we experienced.

    Amazing to the max

by CoolGuy1949 on 5/6/24Coronado Performing Arts Center - Rockford

Venue was a truly unique; a vintage auditorium, restored to it's full glory. Judy was outstanding. Great stories, some beautiful new songs, and of course her iconic standards. She also did a number one each from the two other female 'J' artists that defined an era; Join Mitchell, Joan Baez, and Judy Collins. She was in great musical and vocal form. (Piano accompanist was solid) Judy holding many long notes, and displaying her vocal range to all. The fact that she had just celebrated her 85th birthday made the evening truly remarkable. Thank you Judy, Coronado Performing Arts Center, and Ticketmaster!

    Great evening!

by old hippie on 5/6/24Coronado Performing Arts Center - Rockford

Judy Collins' voice is remarkably strong, especially on the acapella songs. I would have liked to hear more nostaglic stories about her early career and possibly more songs from that era. The Coronado Theater is a great venue and it's so nice to have shows like this there. Definitely a memorable evening!

Judy Collin’s is truly an amazing and talented woman. Her ability to sing her beautiful songs certainly hasn’t diminished over the years. The songs she has written are gorgeous. We loved her humor and superior musical expertise singing, playing the guitar and piano. God has truly blessed her with exemplary musical talent. We would certainly love to see her again.

    85 and still going strong

by Young body with an old soul on 5/6/24Coronado Performing Arts Center - Rockford

I am 33 years old, and other than a father who I saw bring his child. I believe I was the youngest individual there. I have an and the concert was absolutely phenomenal, I was deeply moved by Judy’s amazing voice still going strong after all these years. She played all the She would, as well as some songs from her new album, my favorite song she did was when she did Amazing Grace the very last song she sang, and the audience all joined in together. I highly recommend seeing Miss Collins in concert, she still has got it.

    Judy Collins is Transcendent!

by SoCal Oma on 3/5/24Luckman Fine Arts Complex - Los Angeles

As a super lifelong fan of the incomparable Judy Collins, having seen her in concert more times than I can count in every possible venue from Boston's Symphony Hall in the 70's to the intimate Cafe Carlyle in Manhattan, I can say with assurance that at 84 years old she is as spectacular as ever! Her vocals are course not as strong as 60 years ago, however she still sings like an angel, her voice piercing my heart with its range and beauty. There were many members of her family (granddaughter, great grandchildren!!) and friends (Stephen Stills!!) in the audience, and she performed with warmth and love. It was beyond wonderful. May she continue to sing and perform FOREVER.

The music and comedy of Judy Collins

by Tellie on 3/5/24Luckman Fine Arts Complex - Los Angeles

Wow, what a memorable experience I will never forget. Not only did we get her library filled music collection, with winding stories and enrapturing poetry, we got a free comedy show as well! To be honest, I never clung to Judy’s music in the past, (I’m 30 years younger) but I became obsessed with her Spellbound album the moment I heard it. Proving that music is truly transcendental and timeless..What a dame!

Judy is full of stories and songs. At 84, she still hits the high notes and enjoys performing in front of an audience. Great show.
