About

Jay Z 4:44 Tour

Though his musical endeavors as an artist, label exec and producer provide the foundation for Jay-Z's empire, he's also a successful serial entrepreneur. He's made his mark in the fashion world with his Rocawear clothing line, and he's branched into the sports world -- first as a part owner of the Brooklyn Nets of the NBA, then as the owner of the Roc Nation sports and entertainment agency. As he rapped in one song, "I'm not a businessman / I'm a business, man."

Jay-Z's rise came from humble beginnings. He and his three siblings grew up in a housing project in Brooklyn's Bedford Stuyvesant neighborhood, and he was raised by his single mother after his father left when he was 11 years old. His early lyrics refer to a life rife with gun violence and drug dealing, and he's claimed that he turned to hip hop as a way out of poverty.

Carter began to get noticed as a rapper in 1989, when he joined an older performer and mentor named Jaz-O to record a song titled "The Originators," which landed them on an episode of  Yo! MTV Raps. Around this time, Carter began to perform as Jay-Z out of respect for Jaz-O and as a nod to his childhood nickname "Jazzy."

After bouncing around in relative obscurity, Jay-Z and two friends, Damon Dash and Kareem Burke, took things into their own hands by creating their own label, Roc-A-Fella Records, in 1996. Jay-Z's first album, "Reasonable Doubt," was released that June, and immediately established him as a star-in-the-making.

From there, it seemed Jay-Z could do no wrong. He's sold more than 50 million albums worldwide, amassed 17 Grammy Awards, and has become known as one of the greatest rappers ever. He married Beyonce Knowles in 2008, and Forbes has ranked the pair Hollywood's top-earning couple.
Jay-Z's concerts regularly sell out, with fans scooping up tickets to see a true living legend who can command an audience with or without a huge stage production. In fact, his early Magna Carter shows were one of his most stripped-down productions, but nonetheless generated consistent raves from fans and critics alike.

    Great show but....

    by joemg82 on 10/8/18CenturyLink Field - Seattle

Love them but Beyonce's last solo tour was way more of a production, I was expecting more. Still worth the price of a ticket as both j and b sound amazing live.

    Surprisingly Underwhelming

    by swp86 on 10/7/18CenturyLink Field - Seattle

The sound quality was great and the volume was exactly where it should be for a concert. However, I think Beyonce and Jay-Z focused too much on songs they were both a part of and didn't do very many singles of Their Own. On top of that they were trying to use trumpets and drums and guitars 2 replicate songs that didn't use any of these instruments in the first place. I personally hate it when artist do that. The stage setup was pretty cool. However it was not that great for those viewing from an angle. Couldn't see the rest of the stage behind the big screen. And the thing I hated probably more than anything was how late they started. The concert started at 7:30. There was only one opening act and they started 40 minutes late. After they were done it took almost an hour and a half for Jay Z and Beyonce to come on. Not cool or fair to fans that have to work. Especially on a Thursday night!!!

by WLTT on 10/7/18CenturyLink Field - Seattle

This was honestly my favorite Beyoncé and Jay Z concert and hands-down one of my top Beyoncé concert I have ever been to. It may be because it was their last show but it was beautiful to see their love their journey their freedom within eac it may be because it was their last show but it was beautiful to see their love, their journey, their freedom all while staying true to their art. Club carter was amazing. Dancing with their family, friends and team was also a good bonus.

    How much longer!

by Brizzlemydrizzle on 10/7/18CenturyLink Field - Seattle

The concert itself was amazing! However!! Having to wait over 2 hours after the opener performed for Beyoncé and Jay-Z to perform was not fun! Very boring and very frustrating to wait that long! Also had to leave early because the concert exceeded the time of our parking ticket. Next time, start on time!
