I was stunned when the guy who played as the postal worker came to me & my girlfriend and asked us if we wanted to be in the play as part of the house party scene, I thought it was a joke until he took us behind the stage where we got our what to do instructions, I always wanted to do plays but didn't take theatre in school, only did it in elementary school. I went to the 7:30pm show on Mothers day. It was a nice play but the turn out wasn't great.

    I need a Man (not)

by Castonia on 6/15/12Willett Hall - Portsmouth

The play was horrible.... So, very disappointing! I love supporting artists of all avenues but they have to produce quality and this play lacked any. None of the big name celebrities was in the play as the advertised. Acting was garbage!

I Need A Man didn't make the cut!!!

by Bigceej on 6/14/12Willett Hall - Portsmouth

This is the worst play I ever attended and I will not attend any other Michael Matthew plays. I was looking forward to seeing Big Daddy Kane, Christopher Martin and the other headliners however the only person that showed was Jackee. Throughout the play they had problems with the audio where you couldn't here what they were saying. One cast member did attempt to ad lib to accommodate. The only explanation I got for the cast members being gone was I was still getting a message out the play. I wasted my money never again.

This was the worse play I ever seen in my entire life. None of the main actors were present. Poor sound, I barely hear what was going on and some scenes were confusing. I will never attend another play director by Michael Mattews.

    The play was awful!!!

    by Kid2of3 on 6/13/12Willett Hall - Portsmouth

Some of the performers were not in attendance. I thought Jackee had a major role and she didn't. The other characters looked like somebody off the street corners of downtown Portsmouth.

Never seen a stage play this bad!!

by Anonymous on 6/12/12Willett Hall - Portsmouth

I've been to several plays throughout the "757" area and never have I seen one this bad! I later spoke with co-workers who also attended the same night but sat in different areas and they had the same reaction. The sound was horrible and most of the acting was also. Most of the time you can expect the big name actors not to show, but this had very little to do with the play itself. I've been to other plays where there were no big name actors and it still ended up being a great play!

by Groeneveldt on 6/12/12Willett Hall - Portsmouth

First Ginuwine and and some other star werent there, at was the purpose for me purchasing tickets. Invited someone from NC to come all the way to see this play that I think High School students could have done better. Micros werent working it was just horrible. Anything with the name Michael Mattews I will not waste my time again.

    I hated it

by NikkiYvette on 6/12/12Willett Hall - Portsmouth

It was the worse play I've ever been to. It was promoted that Ginuwine and Big Daddy Kane were going to be there and they were NOT. Hugely disappointed! Ginuwine went on Twitter and said he was not supposed to be in that play so I think that was awful that we were lied to. I will never go to another play put on by Michael Matthews.

I no longer need "I Need a Man"

    by MichelleK5 on 6/12/12Willett Hall - Portsmouth

This play was presented horribly. The actors were pretty good which is the only reason that I gave it two stars. The woman who sang the last song in the first act was incredibly talented. However, the lyrics to that song could have been written by a 2nd grader. Unbelievably bad. This play is billed as a comedy..but then becomes about drug use and physical abuse and there is even a shooting. Not funny at all. Finally, many of the mics were not working, the gunshot noise was made three times before the gun was actually shot, people with working mics could be heard saying...is his mic on? backstage. The entire production was amatuerish.

    Worse Play Ever!

by Rachboo on 6/12/12Willett Hall - Portsmouth

The headlining actors were not actually IN the play; Ginuwine wasn't even there. The sound was horrible, the acting was terrible and the storyline was lackluster. Too bad I couldn't get my money back!
