    I Need a Man

by Butterfly064 on 6/11/12Progress Energy Center Raleigh Memorial Auditorium - Raleigh

The overall play was good but the key actors like Big Daddy Kane and Ginuwine did not show up. They were the reasons that I opted to attend. Then they started an 45 minutes late

    Not What I paid for!

    by Hydro1Qween on 6/11/12Willett Hall - Portsmouth

I have always enjoyed the plays at Willett Hall but this one was a GREAT DISAPPOINTMENT one of the main charters were not there .I found out not in advance but on the door when I arrived. It seemed to be very unorganized. I have seen several of Michael Mattews plays and this one I would not recommend a matter of fact my cousin saw the play before me and warned me of how much of a mess it was ,I didnt believe her due to the reputation which is usually upheld .All I can say was she was right!

    Play was terrible!!!

by Tykisha on 6/11/12Willett Hall - Portsmouth

I do not recommend the play because it seems really unorganized. Neither Big Daddy Kane nor Ginuwine were at the play and they were the major stars that I paid to see. The microphones weren't working properly, so we couldn't hear half of the play. Terrible experience. I was really disappointed.

    Easy to forget

    by Disappointed81123 on 6/11/12Willett Hall - Portsmouth

This was a very disappointing play. The people who were advertised were not there. Although they did offer us a refund at the beginning of the play, we chose to see it anyway. We wished we would have gotten the refund. Actually, we left the play during intermission. I have been to see many plays and this was the first one that was a bad experience. I really do not like to downplay anyone who is trying to follow their dreams so I will say to the producer not to give up. Take the honest criticism and turn it into something great.

    Awful

    by Sweet17 on 6/11/12Willett Hall - Portsmouth

There were advertising on the radio of several stars who were not in the play. Acting was awful. A true waste of my time. I would've enjoyed a lifetime movie With a nice Pinot noir at home much better...

I have been to many plays over the last 20 years. This is the first and only play that I did not enjoy. It started late. Most of the big named stars did not show up. The sound system was horrible. I could have dealt with that, but the worse part was the play itself. It was all over the place. There was no flow and the dialogue bordered on silly most of the time. A lot of the audience left before the play was over.

    I Need A Man

by ZionRose on 5/17/12Warner Theatre - Washington, DC

Totally the WORST experience in my life that I PAID FOR. I should have been paid to sit through that torture. I kept expecting it to get better, but it didn't. Seriously. This was false advertisement. The featured stars were a no-show, the rest of the cast was not funny. They could sing, but the audio was turned up so loud while they were singing that I had to plug my ears to keep my brain from rattling. And then when they were speaking, you could barely hear them. I kept wondering whose child was playing with the controls. The plot, or lack of one, was amatuer at best and extremely predictable. When the lights darkened for what one would think would be a scene change, I just knew that they had to be back there writing lines because there was no continuity. I know I have attended elementary school plays with a plot of more substance. Really, can I get my money back?

    Are you serious?

by mssevans4ever on 5/13/12Warner Theater - Washington DC

I have never been to a play where all of the MAJOR stars did not show!! Now Jackee and Carl Payne are stars but I would not put them on the level of Genuwine or Big Daddy Kane and others. This play in no way lived up to expectations. As others have indicated the audio was horrible. Another thing I despise is to feel taken advantage of. There was no mention of the star studded cast not performing tonight, or any refund offered. In reading reviews others were given a choice, which is the right thing to do. I will in the future make certain that any play by Michael Matthews does not receive another dollar from me. Thanks for ruining my mothers day with this mess. I would like to say that Carl Payne and Pierre were in the lobby taking photographs and socializing with patrons. That was the only good point of the evening.

    i was speechless

by gimmemymoneybackplease on 5/12/12willet hall - portsmouth

first of all, no ginuwine, no kane, no rueben. i should have known something was up when the mc offered us our money back before the show started, but i didn't leave, and i will regret that decision for years. this was the worst thing i have ever seen, not the worst play, the worst thing. the actors were terrible, the play wasn't funny and at the end of the play, i still didn't know what the play was about. there were more people in the audience looking at something on their cell phones than watching the play. it was bad, i mean bad bad bad. only stars the were cole from martin and jackee from 227 and both of them looked like they couldn't believe that they were there, i would rather see them on tv one

    Seriously I have no words.

by KokoNaki on 5/8/12PSNC AUDITORIUM - Raleigh

Ginuwine and Big Daddy Kane did not perform. At the stage play "I Need a Man"...the worst play ever. This is where stereotypical black stage plays go to die. The acting is just awful, just awful oh wait its just intermission, another hour to go, two hours of my life I cannot get back. I got a baby sitter for this..glad the tickets were free. Bad really..really bad...#gasface#

    The WORST!

    by ice3025 on 5/8/12Willett Hall - Portsmouth

Out of all the years that I have attended plays in VA, off B'way & even Off, Off Broadway, this was the WORST play that I've ever seen. Before I go seen another play, I will read the reviews. According to the reviews listed, I see that I was not the only person that was unhappy.

    THIS PLAY WAS CRAP!!!

by Anonymous on 5/7/12Willet Hall - Porstmouth

I am very disappointed with this play. The people that were supposed to have been in the play were not in the play. It was posted on the door before the play that Genuwine & Big Daddy Kane were not performing. The acting was @ a middle school level! The sound was terrible, the props were the same throughout the entire play and the costumes were outrageous! The entire time of watching the play I was sitting there thinking "What the Heck is this????" I feel this was false advertising and I purchased the most expensive tickets! If I would have known the original cast was not performing I would NOT have purchased them! I will never go to another Michael Matthews play again....TRUST!

    DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY

by Anonymous on 5/7/12WILLET HALL - PORTSMOUTH,

I DON'T EVEN NO WHERE TO BEGIN WITH THIS PLAY. FIRST OF ALL THE ACTORS WHO THEY ADVERTISED TO BE IN THE PLAY WERE A NO SHOW. THE SOUND SYSTEMS WAS HORRIBLE, THE PLOT WAS ALL OVER THE PLACE. I CANNOT BELIEVE THAT THEY DID NOT GIVE PEOPLE THEIR MONEY BACK JUST BECAUSE. I HAVE NEVER BEEN TO A BAD PLAY NOR HAVE I EVER WROTE A REVIEW, BUT I WILL TELL YOU ONE THING I WILL READ REVIEWS FROM HERE ON OUT BECAUSE I COULD HAVE SAVED MYSELF ALOT OF MONEY. DO NOT GO AND SEE THIS SHOW IT WILL HAVE YOU UPSET AT LIFE. IF THEY OFFER YOU A REFUND AT THE BEGINNING OF THE SHOW TAKE IT, BECAUSE YOU WILL BE MADE IF YOU DON'T

by Mytown on 5/6/12Willett Hall - Portsmouth

I couldn't remember why I had not been to a play at Willett Hall in a few years. The play refreshed my memory. It was truly awful. I am so sorry I wasted my money. I should have gone to the movies instead.

    Extremely disappointed!

    by Diva1913 on 5/5/12Willet Hall - Portsmouth

Big Daddy Kane-NO SHOW (a friend of mine said he's in Charlotte tonight for whatever reason)...Ginuwine-NO SHOW...Chris Martin (from Kid n Play)-NO SHOW...Pierre-only 10 minutes of stage time...Jackee Harry-only 5 minutes of stage time. The play was almost 3 hours long! Good actors...great singers...but it was HORRIBLE! The sound system director should be replaced! Mics were going out throughout the show...sound would be either to low or to high at times! I'm so embarrassed for Alyson Williams & the rest of the cast! I've seen her in some great plays too! I love plays (I've been to tooooo many to name) & this was by far the worst stage play I've ever seen! Come on Michael Matthews...you can do soooooooo much better than this!! It just went EVERYWHERE! To over the top with all the guns though...a little to "Set it off" for me! No reason for the miscellaneous "Earl" character to be in there or "Smokey" for that matter! My gay friends would have been offended by his over-the-too protrayal which wasn't very funny at all then making him"straight" all of a sudden because he went to church for 6 months...ummmmm...NO! Please rewrite this play! It was an EPIC FAIL (never wrote a review for a play before...so you know it was bad)...UUUUUUUGGGGGHHHHH! PS-did they have to go through the ENTIRE wedding ceremony at the end...now THAT was RIDICULOUS!!!

    I need a REFUND!

by Somadatthis on 5/4/12Willett Hall - Portsmouth

This was the worst play I have EVER seen in my life at the Willette Hall. First of all they Need a clock it started 30 minutes late...second of all i need the stars who were supposed to be there to have been there...number 3 i need a refund! I need you to check your speaker systems we were having to yell we cant hear her....the lady had to walk off the stage because her mic didnt work. "cole" from martin's zipper was undone and how the world can you answer a phone while it is ringing and dont you have to get shot first before you fall down...then how the world you get shot and then the play ends! THEN how does 15 minute intermission end up being 25 and how come there was no program and NO RUBEN STUDDARD! plus how the the grandfather ends up playing the love interest of the grandaughter! you fooling me! This play was absolutely HORRIBLE. And Jackie didnt show up until after the intermission. The daughter who was getting abused was tone death and was hollering and sounded like a cat getting hit by a car. Oh yeah did I forget to mention most of the performers didnt change clothes. I can go on and on...I NEED YOU TO KEEP YOUR MONEY...Oh yeah how do you enter a party thru the front door and go out the side of the stage when leaving the party? who does that? ok, i will stop now...They only reason they got one star from me because 1 was required. But they wouldnt have got that....please Mr. Matthews leave this up to Tyler Perry and step your game up!
