BROADWAY’S FUNNIEST NEW MUSICAL
“SO MUCH FUN IT SHOULD BE ILLEGAL.”
– The Times of London
WINNER! BEST MUSICAL
2017 Olivier Award
Karma can be a funny thing. So when a big-city weatherman gets stuck in small-town America, laughter is in the forecast. With his unique look on life, Phil Connors is always ready with a one-liner or clever quip about the all-too cheery people of Punxsutawney. But one extraordinary day is about to show Phil that maybe the joke is really on him. Andy Karl stars in the role that won him the 2017 Olivier Award for Best Actor in the new Broadway musical that Entertainment Weekly calls, “a wonderfully inventive show, with dazzling energy, creativity, wit, and heart.”
What a great opportunity to enjoy a thoroughly uplifting evening! Great voices, fun plot, hilarious lines, upbeat fun.
I was pleasantly surprised at how good Groundhog Day was. I loved the cleaver way they did the car chase scene, the was each day was repeated, the singing was excellent, and the message was important.
One of the most enjoyable and cleverly-staged musicals we've seen. Andy Karl is outstanding. Very surprised it is closing in September. Get there before it does- well worth it.
This show was amazing. All the seats were good, the theater is great. I'd go watch it again in a minute
This show is incredible! The songs are amazing and the staging is so creatively wonderful. You don't have much time left, but you must see this show!
This was an excessively loud and crude play. The lyrics were both vulgar and juvenile and lacked the genuine humor of the movie. We left after the first act.
Play was funny, voices were great. Great lesson That was taught.
I was beyond surprised at how great this show is...i was the one who wasn't really interested but WOW! YOU MUST SEE THIS SHOW!
I don't love the trend toward making shows unnecessarily raunchy—which is what happened here. However, I liked the show overall and the message was heartwarming.
Incredible, energetic performances. Such high energy and great music. Innovative staging which does not detract from the show itself.. One of the few musicals I have seen in recent years where the lyrics are discernible over the music. I don't understand why this show couldn't find an audience and is closing mid-September. Any theatre lover should see this,
Wonderful music, great staging -- Andy Karl is perfect. You'll laugh a lot, and not get too annoyed at the feel-good stuff st the end.
As a huge fan of the movie, I did not have high expectations for the musical. But the transition from film to stage was terrific. The cast was exceptional, and the staging was really inventive. The show deserves an audience. I strongly recommend it.
The choreography of the props, the actors, and the set pieces was extremely well done. The lead actor was amazing. Acting was well done, show was well performed. In my opinion, no memorable songs, however.
The show was amazing! Run, don't walk, to see this show before it closes.
Way too long and boring. No memorable music. Andy Karl is terrific, though.
There were 2-3 good scenes, others were boring with dull music. The play went on too long, I wanted it to end.
So great! The music and lyrics, set design and actors were spectacular. Should have swept the Emmys. I'd see it again if I can.
We had so much fun at this show! I would recommend this show to anybody who wants a fun, lighthearted night out! See it before its gone!!!
The actors were fantastic! The set was unique and had moments of pure magic in it. The audience burst out laughing more times than I could count, and you could truly feel Tim Minchin's craft behind all the lyrics. Everything came together beautifully. I sent my parents there the very next day!
I have seen this show three times now, and am planning on seeing it a fourth time. This show is an unforgettable experience. The entire cast and crew work together perfectly to create an amazing experience. The music and lyrics, written by Tim Minchin, are so well done and each song fits so perfectly into the show. The plot is interesting and there are many funny moments, but with a touch of deep moments here and there that really make you think. Barrett Doss who plays Rita Hanson does a fantastic job, she sounds amazing and plays her role well! Andy Karl, who plays the lead role of Phil Connors, is absolutely magnificent. He is extremely talented, in both his singing and his acting. Each actor who takes part in this show adds to the experience and really makes it such a great show to go see. I would recommend this show highly to anyone!
